WELCOME Congratulations on entering the Goodlife Rottnest Running Festival. The WA Marathon Club has now held this event for 24 years, quite the feat we say! If we were to number all those laps around Rottnest, you'd be quite dizzy! The event wouldn't be the same without you, the competitors. A huge thanks to all who make a weekend or day of it! We will do our best to ensure you enjoy the experience! RACE TIMES 06:45am - Marathon 07:30am - Half Marathon 10:25am - 5km 10:30am - 10km BIB COLLECTION & EVENT EXPO This year, an Event Expo and Bib Collection will be held on Heritage Common during the following times: Saturday, 21 Ocober: 1:00pm - 4:30pm Sunday, 22 October: 6:00am - 12:00pm Participants across all events will be able to collect their bibs from this this location. Whilst there, visit the expo and check out the great range of products from Goodlife Health Clubs, Running Warehouse, Mizuno, Rocktape, Segway Tours, Skydive Geronimo, RFDS and Maxiblock. For marathoners, who have registered before 22 September, your bib will posted to the registered address. If you haven t received your Bib, no need to stress, just report to the Bib Collection area and we will organise the rest. For those arriving on the early morning ferry, simply head straight to Heritage Common to collect your Bib. As there will be two early morning ferries arriving, lines will be setup to ensure we can move through everyone as quick as possible. ONLINE REGISTRATIONS & ENTRIES ON THE DAY For all events, online registrations will be closing Thursday, 19 October, at 4:00pm. For family members and friends who don't want to miss out on the awesome experience of the Rottnest Running Festival... it s not too late! Registrations for the Half, 10km & 5km will be taken at the Heritage Common Area. All entries on the day must be in by 10:00am and will have an additional $10.00 late entry fee added. No late entries will be accepted for the Marathon due to time restrictions. DRINK STATIONS There are five drink stations on the course located at approx 2km intervals, they will be manned by volunteer army cadets, who will pass you water. Refer to the course maps for drink station locations. For the Marathon & Half Marathon, electrolyte drink will be available at drink stations 2, 4 and 5. Thirst is a poor indicator of fluid replacement needs, drink regularly and before you become thirsty. Even if the day is cool, the wind can dehydrate you by as much as 25%. Continue to drink after the run to replace the fluid loss. Special Drinks - Marathon Only Drinks must be handed in to Unit 349 (adjacent to Heritage Common) by 6pm on Saturday. Drinks must clearly identify your Bib No. and the drink station it is to be placed at (refer below). These drinks will be placed on a separate table and it will be up to the participants to retrieve their own drink. Alternatively, participants may have a supporter hand special drinks at the drink station locations so long as there is no interference with the operation of the drink station or with other participants trying to get their own special drinks. No containers will be returned if not collected. For Marathoners arriving on the early ferry, special drinks must be handed to the volunteer who will be stationed at the bib collection point in the Heritage Common area. These special drinks will be placed at Drink Station No. 5 only. Special drink stations will not be available for the Half Marathon, 10km or 5km events so please carry your own. BAG DROP For those coming to Rottnest for the day, a bag drop area will be set up in front of Unit 349. Whilst we will keep an eye out through the day, it would be best to not leave any valuables lying around. If you would like to hire a locker please contact the Rottnest Island Visitor Centre and they will be able to assist.
DISTANCE CHANGES If you wish to change the distance you have entered, please notify the WAMC office by 4:00pm, Thursday, 19 October to allow sufficient time for processing. We will have limited resources on the island and may not be able to cater to your request. WAVE S There are no official Wave Starts across all events. If you believe you will be in the top 10, please ensure you are as close to the start line as possible, prizes will be awarded on gun time. FIRST AID Talis First Aid will be located at the finish line and on course. If you require first aid assistance on course, please notify a drink station attendant, course marshal or a course bike rider who will be able to phone for help. RACE DAY ETIQUETTE 1. Although we are running the event on closed roads, vehicles may still be traveling in and around the island, such as ambulance & police. 2. Whilst we don't restrict competitors from wearing headphones, it is strongly recommended you don't. If a fellow competitor is in trouble you may not hear them, then it poses quite the issue. 3. Don t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the friendly quokkas. 4. Please be wary of other competitors on course and be courteous courteous to your fellow runners. Many distances will be run concurrently and this will create some traffic and varying athlete speeds. VOLUNTEERS We are extremely grateful to all our volunteers who have donated their time to help make the Rottnest Running Festival the event that it is, please be friendly and courteous to our volunteers, as they will be to you. This year they can be spotted wearing both blue and teal shirts with the Mizuno logo on front and Transform your Run on the back.
