Eastern Downs Branch Australian Stock Horse Society Futurity, Maturity, Challenge & Campdraft Rules and Regulations of Entry 1. All horses for Futurity/Maturity/Challenge must be registered with the ASHS (exception under 12 years Youth Challenge Horses) Proof of registration to be provided with nominations (photocopy of registration certificate or ASHS web print accepted). Please also bring registration certificates to event as horses will be inspected prior to competition. 2. All horses entered in the Futurity/Maturity/Challenge must compete in every section of their appropriate age classes or forfeit all points gained. 3. Australian dress and equipment is to be worn and used in all Futurities, Maturities and Challenges. All horses competing must be properly bridled with a snaffle bit. 4. Each section of the Futurity/Maturity/Challenge will have a different judge. The Judges decision is final. 5. Tie for High point is to be either a ride off or a count back at the organising Committee s discretion, with a count back to be based on ridden sections. 6. The nominated horse must have the same handler/rider in all its classes. Any alteration is at the discretion of the Committee. 7. ALL NOMINATIONS CANCELLED after 8am 23rd MAY 2018 will incur a $15 LEVY. ALL NOMINATIONS CANCELLED after 7am SATURDAY 26 th MAY 2018 WILL NOT BE REFUNDED EXCEPT IN EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES. 8. After the close of entries a draw will be conducted for the order of exhibits, commencing with the Yearlings. All riders to provide their own breastplate numbers and ride in draw order. Numbers MUST BE worn during ALL classes. 9. Competitors compete at their own risk. 10. All competitors under the age of 18 years must wear a skull cap at all times when handling or riding a horse and are not allowed to handle or ride a stallion/colt. 11. Cattle working contest: This event will be judged on cattle handling ability; to be conducted in the cutout yard and the main arena. The horse is to display control cutting out a beast in the yard, working the beast in the open arena and circling both ways, with the one gate peg being the final objective. Undesirable traits, which will be penalised, include biting, striking, running over the beast, running past the beast and using the fence to turn the beast. Fall of horse or rider, turn tail, crashing beast into fence unnecessarily will be cause for disqualification. 12. All competitors must be financial ASHS members or have taken out Temporary Membership for the event. 13. Horses in the campdrafts do not have to be registered Australian Stock Horses. 14. Preference of run starts in the campdrafts will be given to competitors who have also competed in the Futurities/Maturity or Challenges. 15. All horses arriving at the Allora Showground s MUST complete a Horse Health Declaration and hand in on arrival to the grounds. (Allora Showground PIC QKWW 2131) 16. Prizemoney cheques are to be presented within 3 months of the event. 17. The owner/s of Stallions, who have donated services, reserve the right to reject any mare they deem unsuitable. The service is non-transferable. After one breeding season the service will become null and void. Vet fees and agistment costs are the mare owner s responsibility. 18. The Committee reserves the right to alter the program, delete or adjudicate on any event as it sees fit. 19. Patterns are taken from the ASHS Pattern Book. We request that all competitors read the rules and regulations carefully before nominating and competing. 20. Entries open Tuesday 1 st May and close with the Secretary on Friday 18 th May 2018. It is expected that the Campdraft nominations will fill prior to this date. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE ENTRY FEES, COPY OF MEMBERSHIP CARD AND COPY OF HORSE S REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE OR ASHS WEB PRINT TO BE ACCEPTED. 21. NO PHONE OR EMAIL ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. NO DIRECT DEPOSITS. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE BY CHEQUE OR MONEY ORDER ONLY. PLEASE NOTE: CAMPING FEES ARE NO LONGER INCLUDED IN NOMINATIONS AND A $20/CAMPSITE FEE WILL BE CHARGED, PAYABLE WITH NOMINATIONS. Competitors please note that the program has been restructured and we ask that you read the ring timetable. Youth Challenges and Judging will be on Saturday. Hack Challenges will be on Saturday, time permitting. The Encouragement Challenge will start 7am Sunday. Cattle work for Open Challenge, 3 & 4 year old horses will be held prior to the Campdraft on Sunday starting at 7am. Riders may ride any age, registered ASH and may compete in any other events. Competitors are limited to one horse/entry in the Encouragement Challenge. PLEASE NOTE: Only Amateur riders are eligible to compete and if you are an Encouragement Rider at the first futurity of the year, you remain an Encouragement Rider for all of the Futurities that year. YOUTH EVENTS Open to all ASHS members (temporary membership available). Youth are not to handle or ride stallions or colts and must wear a helmet at all times when riding or handling horses. One horse per competitor. YOUTH JUDGING (YJ) Age groups: 8-12 years 13-17 years 18-21 years Competitors to supply own clipboard & pen (calculator optional to add up scores so they do not have a tie in the placing of the horses). No nomination fee, no prizemoney. Ribbons will be awarded. Competitors may include nomination on forms however nominations will be taken on the day at the office. Competition will start at approximately 8 am, prior to commencement of Youth Challenges.
