Optimization of a Proven Technology Second Generation closed-circuit breathing apparatus
Symbiose The new BG 4 closed-circuit breathing apparatus is a symbiosis of reliable Dräger technology and practical user requirements. Breathing is life. For more than a century, the name Dräger has stood for safe breathing worldwide. Wherever this vital human function is made difficult or is endangered, our products monitor, protect and support human health. We have undertaken to continuously monitor our high standards of quality and to ensure that new generations of products benefit fully from our extensive practical experience and take into consideration the needs and wishes of our customers. We have now optimized a proven technology, the result being the second generation of the BG 4 closed-circuit breathing apparatus. The new BG 4 The BG 4 closed-circuit breathing apparatus supplies the device wearer with breathing air for up to four hours, thereby making him independent of low-oxygen, contaminated ambient air. The slight positive pressure in the breathing circuit protects the wearer by preventing contaminants from penetrating the breathing circuit. The BG 4 is ideally suited for longer operations in toxic environments, and with its reinforced lid is extremely robust, able to withstand even the toughest applications. Strengthening rings in the shoulder area provide constant support for the breathing hoses, while assembling the hoses is now even easier thanks to the new bayonet rings. The BG 4 is equipped with a CO 2 absorber in which the carbon dioxide is removed from the exhaled air. The breathing air from the oxygen cylinder is enriched with 400 litres of oxygen. During normal breathing the constant dosage system ensures an adequate supply of oxygen, with additional oxygen being added automatically through the minimum valve if the breathing rate increases. The device wearer also has the option of manually feeding extra oxygen into the breathing circuit via the bypass valve. The basic device version is not fitted with regeneration cartridges, and whether a disposable or refillable cartridge is used depends on the wearer s individual needs. The breathing air cooler can be used either with or without ice, and the customer has the choice between seven different mask designs to suit the task in hand.
Brief Description EN / NIOSH approval Areas of application: mining, industry, fire service Positive pressure system 4 hours operation time Either disposable or refillable cartridge High degree of wearing comfort Maintenance without special tools Integrated cooling device Simple operation Components 1 mask 2 breathing connector 3 exhalation breathing hose 4 dust-filter 5 CO 2 -absorber 6 breathing bag 7 relief valve 8 minimum valve 9 cooler 10 constant dosage 11 inhalation breathing hose 12 drain valve 13 oxygen cylinder 14 cylinder valve 15 pressure reducer 16 Monitron Basic Unit 17 Monitron Display Unit
Monitron The Monitron comprises three components: a high pressure sensor at the pressure reducer an inner basic unit an outer display unit The pressure is displayed electronically on the display unit, both in digital and analogue form. When residual or low pressure is reached, the Monitron warns the device wearer by means of audible and visible signals. Alarms are indicated by a loud horn sound and by a red lamp lighting up, while functions are acknowledged by a quiet horn and a green lamp. The Monitron is powered by commercially available 9 Volt alkali batteries which can be replaced quickly and easily. New Software Monitron, the electronic warning, test and pressure display system supplies the wearer with precise information about the BG 4 device status. When the cylinder valve opens, the battery-operated electronics module Monitron automatically switches itself on and performs a system, battery, high and medium pressure leak and constant dosage test. Throughout the operation, the device wearer is constantly informed of the current cylinder pressure. The residual pressure warning is activated once the cylinder pressure reduces 55 bar. Increased Safety Electronic pressure display Display of operation time Large illuminated display unit Automatic high pressure and medium pressure leak test Constant dosage test Audible and visual residual pressure and low pressure warning Housing for tough use Reinforced cable Explosion-proofing standards to EEX ia I an EEX ia IIC T4
