President s Message Dear Members: The Holiday Season is upon us. December marks a real slow down on the course, but the food and beverage department usually does well due to all the holiday functions. As you know the board has approved a budget for 2004. Our goal is to balance the expenses to the revenue and maintain the course and the club in the condition 2463 we deserve. This is not an easy task and part of our discussion always comes to improvements and repairs, wish lists and actual needs. On our current Five-year plan we have talked about the following improvements: New well in or by pond on hole #2- Better water for front and insurance against problems with back well- Cost $40,000. Rocks around #2, 3, 10 and 17 ponds to prevent erosion. Cost- $50,000 Expansion of irrigation systems to cover current areas missed- Cost $50,000 New landscaping for all Club facilities- $15,000 Remodel of Pool, pool restrooms- Cost $40,000 Remove wall and fireplace in formal dinner area so that we could have one large room for events. - Cost- $15,000. Shop to become a workout/weight room. Cost TBD, but not inexpensive. All of this adds up and are projects that we would like to do to help the club grow and prosper, but can not without funds to support. We are currently around 290 golfing members and 140 social members. We will need at least 60-75 more members to have the cash flow to work on the above projects. Until then we are in a position of focusing on what we need to maintain the club with normal repairs and small incremental improvements to the course. This is the balancing act that we have tried to accomplish with our budget, the balancing of expenses and revenue so that we break even as a non-profit organization. In closing, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and when we have a nice day encourage everyone to come out and bring your guests to enjoy the course. Since the holiday season is a time to give thanks for what we have, I would like to thank our Department Heads and their staff for their hard work and dedication to the Maumelle Country Club. Thank you, Cimarron, Terry, Tina, Wayne, Joseph and all the staff! I would also like to thank the membership for their support and utilization of our course and I am looking forward to a great 2004!
