Valley Rovers Reach County U21 Football Final. On Tuesday last Valley's U21 footballers qualified for the county final after a hard fought win over Fermoy. In what was a very even game throughout Fermoy had the better of the first half and when they goaled after 12 minutes they lead on a scoreline of Valley's 0.02 to Fermoy 1.02. Fermoy kicked another 3 points in the next 10 minutes to give them a 6 point lead entering the last 5 minutes of the first half. To Valley's credit they kicked the next 2 points just before half time to put them within 4 of Fermoy to leave the score at half time Valley's 0.04 to Fermoy 1.05. In the second half Valley's came flying out of the blocks and straight off the throw they got a major bust with a goal from Jack Murphy after receiving a long ball from Gary Farrell. This was followed by 2 points from John Cottrell to turn a 4 point deficit into a 1 point lead, and this was a lead they wouldn't give up. Valley's kicked some super scores in the second half, in particular from John Cottrell and with 10 minutes to go they found themselves 3 points in front. As expected Fermoy started to put the pressure in the closing stages but to Valleys credit their defence stood strong (In particular the full back line of Colm O'Connell, Joe Lynch (R/Hill) and Don Lynch) and only allowed Fermoy to get 1 point to leave Valley's winners by 2 points on a scoreline of Valley's 1.11 to Fermoy 1.09. Best for Valley's were Joe Lynch (R/Hill), Don Lynch, Tim Cummins, Darragh Looney, Jack Murphy and in particular John Cottrell who kicked 9 points, 6 from play.team Donnacha O'Driscoll Colm O'Connell, Joe Lynch (R/Hill), Don Lynch, Darragh Crowley, Tim Cummins, Thomas O'Brien, Darragh Murphy, Gary Farrell, Eoin Fallon, Derek Canty, Eoin Delaney, John Cottrell, Darragh Looney, Jack Murphy Subs: Donal O'Brien for Eoin Fallon, Jerry Crowley for Derek Canty, Unsed Subs, David Lynch (GK), Tim Casey (GK),Aidan Walsh, David Ryan, Joe Lynch (Farnahoe), Eoin O'Reilly, Padraig Forde, Cormac Desmond, David McCarthy, Luke Counihan, Johnny Kiely, Jason Crowley, Premier Intermediate Hurling League Valley Rovers Had a comprehensive league victory over Ballygarvan in sun kissed Ballygarvan last Saturday evening. Both teams fielded under strength teams but the Rovers team were always in full control to such an extent that they finished with 13 players for last few minutes when all the Valley Substitutes had been used and a couple of injuries occurred. Valleys led 1.10 to 0.02 at half time after a Fiachra Lynch goal set them on the way. The second half once again saw a good mix of scorers and Valleys finished with a Kevin Canty goal. Team : Ger Rice, Noel O'Donovan, David Lynch, Conor Lynch, Darragh Murphy, Joseph Lynch (R/Hill) Fergal Coughlan Richie Butler, Ray O'Donovan, Eoin Fallon, Tadgh Fitzgerald, Fiachra Lynch, Kevin Canty, John Burke, Stephen Manning. Scorers: Kevin Canty 1.08,1f,Richie Butler 0.06,2f, Tadgh Fitzgerald 0.04,1f Fiachra Lynch 1.00, Ray O'Donovan 0.01, Eoin Fallon 0.01, John Burke 0.01 & Brian Lehane 0.01 Subs: Ciaran O'Riordan for Noel O'Donovan inj, Shane O'Sullivan (Dromkeen) for Darragh Murphy, Brian Lehane for Stephen Manning, Tim Cummins for Ray O'Donovan, Colm O'Connell for Fiachra Lynch. Minor Hurling Championship Valley Rovers bowed out of the Minor Championship on Friday night last when they were defeated by a stronger Fr O Neill team in Kilbarry. Valleys were holding their own until Fr O Neills struck for their first goal on 20minutes. At half time the score read Valley Rovers 0-5 to Fr O'Neills 1-9. Fr O Neils had the upper hand in the second half and eventually ran out 3-19 to 0-06 winners. The Valley Rovers Team was Page 2 of 6

Joe Bernard Brian O Leary, Cormac Desmond, Donal McCarthy Padraig Forde, Chris O Leary, Ian Crowley Danny O Sullivan, Ben Murphy David Healy, Darragh Looney, Eoin O Reilly Billy Crowley, Tadgh O Brien, Stephen O Shea U13 football League On Sat 13/07 Valley Rovers U13 footballers travelled to Mallow to play the home side in the U13 Premier Football league. Due to a number of players being away on holidays we were glad to be able to call on six under 12 players and 1 under 11 to help us not only fulfil the fixture but also come away with a win. Where we finished up winning by one point 1-08 to 1-07, we should have won by a more comfortable margin. Having played some good football how we only scored one goal remains a mystery. In the first half Valleys played with a slight advantage down the field and lead 1-4 to 0-01 at half time. Cormac Lyons was dependable in goal, Shane Lynch and Cathal O Sullivan doing well in the full back line, Mark O Leary and Adam Kenneally prominent in the half back line. Sean Barry and Niall Lawton had a right battle with a very strong Mallow midfield pairing. Kieran Rice played very well in the half forward line ably assisted by Cian Crowley and Conor Hurley up front. A special thanks to Conor for coming to the game as he competed in another sporting event earlier in the day. Mallow started the second half strongly scoring a goal and a point to reduce the lead to 2 pts, we looked in trouble at this stage but we kept battling. Switching Darragh Keane to wing forward, introducing Jason Cronin to corner forward and bringing Michael Connolly out to help at midfield helped to swing the momemtum in Valleys favour. It was all square 1-06 a piece with ten minutes to go, in those final minutes Valleys scored two points through Darragh Keane & Cian Crowley where as Mallow only managed the one point leaving Valleys the winners by the single point. Well done to the lads on the age who lead the way, ably assisted by our six U12 players and special mention to Jason Cronin (U11) who won a load of possession when introduced at corner forward. Team: Cormac Lyons, Darragh Keane (0-02), Shane Lynch, Cathal O Sullivan, Adam Kenneally, M O Leary, Matt Crowley, Niall Lawton, Sean Barry (0-01), Darragh O Shea, Ml Connolly (0-01), Kieran Rice, Darren Draper, Cian Crowley (0-04), Cormac Kilduff. Subs Conor Hurley (1-00), Jason Cronin. U8 Football Monster Blitz in Ballinhassig Our U8s played a very enjoyable football blitz in Ballinhassig, on Saturday morning last, in glorious sunshine. We entered two seven-a-side teams and we competed well against the following teams; Courcey Rovers x 2, Shamorcks, Carrigaline, Ballinhassig and Sliabh Rua. Our two teams were well encouraged and supported by the parents present. This support is very much appreciated by mentors and players. There were great skills on display from our lads; point scoring, hand passing, foot-passing, picking up the ball from the ground, catching, tackling and marking. The lads continue to train hard on Wednesday nights and are encouraged to practice their skills at home; skills that they learn in training. They get visibly stronger in each blitz that they play. The following players played in the blitz; Aaron O'Connell, Adam Lynch, Callum Reardon, Conor Desmond, Dara McCarthy, David Carthew, Emile Moisey, Enda Muldoon, Eoin Guinane, Joshua Woods, Luke O'Sullivan, Oisin McCarthy, Paul Burke, Sean Mac an tsaoi, Shane O Connell, Shane Ryan and Ted McGrath Page 3 of 6

The remaining schedule of U8 blitz competitions this summer is as follows: Date Hurling Football Location Saturday 27th July @10am Hurling Tbc Saturday 10th August @10am Football Tbc Saturday 24th August @10am Hurling Tbc Fixture Camogie Notes Munster League Final Valley Rovers v Burgess Duharra, venue and date TBC Munster League v Newport Ballinahinch On Monday last Valleys travelled to Newport in Co. Tipperary to take on the home team in their final game in this section of the competition. On a extremely hot evening, Valleys were first off the mark with a goal by Niamh Lordan within the in the opening minute. Valleys led from this to the final whistle but Newport were always chasing within a score of the lead. The game finished on a score of Valley Rovers 3-9 Newport Ballinahinch 2-7, however, Valleys were great full to see two shots on goal go narrowly wide. Panel: Gillian Harrington, Annemaire Murphy, Jessica Hawkes, Ciara Richardson, Fiona O'Sullivan, Susan O'Leary, Meg O'Sullivan, Lisa Lynch, Aoife Cummins, Liz Buglar, Connie Hawkes, Emily Palmer, Niamh Lordan, Eileen Foley, Katie Richardson, Leona Murphy. Munster League semi-final Valleys had another outing in this competition with a trip to Charleville to face Kilrune McDonagh's from north Tipperary. Valleys dominated procedures for the opening minutes with 1-1 scored before Kilrune established themselves in the game. From here to the short whistle Kilrune McDonagh's enjoyed greater possession but strong defending from Valleys backs and a brilliant save from Gillian Harrington ensured that Valleys had the minimum lead at half time on a score of 1-3 to 5pts. It was nip and tuck for the second half with the sides level on three different occasions. Halfway through the half a brilliant ground stroke gave McDonagh's their only lead but this was short lived. When it looked like ending all square two inspirational points from Aoife Cummins and Susan O'Leary gave Valleys a dangerous two point lead. In the last puck of the game McDonagh's gained possession at the edge of the square and the shot with seemed destined for the back if the net was excellently saved by Gillian Harrington which ensured that Valleys progressed to the Division 3 final. Panel: Gillian Harrington, Annemaire Murphy, Jessica Hawkes, Fiona O'Sullivan, Emily Palmer, Susan O'Leary, Meg O'Sullivan, Lisa Lynch, Aoife Cummins, Liz Buglar, Connie Hawkes, Aisling Glavin, Niamh Lordan, Eileen Foley, Orla Deasy, Aine Coughlan, Clodagh Deasy. U10 Go-Games On Saturday last Dungourney made the long journey to Brinny to play an u10 Go-Game. Both teams displayed great skills on a very warm morning and enjoyed the game, Panel: Orla O'Sullivan, Siobhan Lordan, Niamh Lordan, Laoise Collins, Rebecca Lordan, Kate Lynch, Molly Lynch, Rhian Dawkins, Aisling Fennelly, Alison Kenny, Áine Ryan, Fiona Horgan, Grace Geary, Leah White- Hoey, Ellie O'Sullivan, Emma O'Sullivan U8 Go-Games blitz The young camogie players of Valleys, Courcey Rovers, Barryroe and Ballinascarthy competed in a gogames blitz in Brinny last Saturday. These young players showed great promise for the future. Well done to all involved. Panel: Marie Hayes, Erica Mahony, Fiona Twohig, Ciara O'Sullivan, Anna Collins, Muireann McCarthy, Niamh Quinn, Cara O'Sullivan, Ericka Crowley, Leah Kearney, Jane Horgan, Ciara Dunlea, Ruby Murphy, Gracie Kearney, Nicole O'Connor, Áine O'Brien, Aoife Dullea, Alannah McCarthy, Ella Manning.
