SPORTS NEWSLETTER AUSSIE RULES AT MAGILL SCHOOL The 2017 Footy season just started and what a great start for both Adelaide teams! But probably the greatest news is coming from the Crows girls team who became the Premiership winners! Congratulations! As we all know many of the great players that we watch playing today and make us proud started Footy in their school teams. Magill School always had very enthusiastic team mates where everyone can start playing Aussie Rules and join a friendly team as you can see in the team photos. As the number of players is a little low our teams and coaches will be very happy to have more players joining the school teams. Please read some of their thoughts and have a go! TERM 1 THERE IS NO AFTER HOURS SPORT DURING THE HOLIDAY PERIOD Rohan V Thomas V Joel B Mitchell E Harry E I like playing Footy with my mates and it is super fun! I like football because I am great at pack marks. I like Footy because I want to be a football player when I am older. I like Footy because you always have fun and learn more skills. The reason I play Footy is that I enjoy it, it helps you get fit and you can play with your friends. NETBALL PRIMARY 3 WHITE COACH: GRACE BLACKEBY Players: Bianca, Sophia, Ava B, Ava W, Jasmine, Jaslyn, Pavahiny, Saanvi, Angela, Matilda, Vanessa, Farha. We had an exciting and very challenging season. Our team started in Primary 7 and won every game convincingly. After regrading we moved up 4 divisions and I am super pleased to say the girls never gave up and ended up winning a number of their games. Well done girls! NETTA 1 COACH: WENDY BOYD Players: Ella, Jessica, Cassie, Sithuki, Taliyah, Varshaa, Jia, Keira, Yasmine, Isabella, Zara and Lola. Extremely proud of the girls and their effort in the summer 2016/17 season which they played Netta 1, jumping 4 divisions from their previous season. They worked hard together on game day and never gave up hoping they would eventually win games, which they did in the last part of the season, making the last few games awesome to watch. Also a big thank you for the continued parent cheer squad, the coach and team were very grateful for the support.

NETTA 7 COACH: CLAIRE JONES Players: Kari, Chelsea, Gursakhi, Anoska, Ela, Jezeela, Sorcha, Imogen and Harneh. The Team started in Sub Junior 6. At this level, the less experienced players were given more court time to hone their match-play skills. We won all our games and were promoted to Sub Junior 5. The team had to work a lot harder, as the pace was much faster. Their hard work has been rewarded by reaching the semi-finals. I am proud of how much the girls have improved and their willingness to learn new drills and match play strategies but more importantly, I salute their unfailing enthusiasm, sporting spirit and persistence. It has been a privilege to coach this team and I hope the girls will remember to always try their best! Never give up and have fun! SUBJUNIOR 5 WHITE COACH: ANGELINE TAN Players: Phemisha, Kate, Poppy, Justine, Zoe, Miruthiny, Yara, Jasmin, Harvin and Daisy.

SUBJUNIOR 5 COACH: JACQUI BLACKEBY Players: Lilly, Bethany, Lauren, Charlotte, Jordan, Phoebe, Bhavi, Miki, Maya and Sheida. Our team has worked so hard, and even at this age where most girls are 13 you can still see huge improvements in their ball skill level. This team have been playing together for a while now and work like a well oiled unit. Last season we won our premiership. This season we have ended up on top of the ladder, with only losing 2 games. We are well on way to another premiership. NETTA 3 COACH: OLIVIA HARKER Players: Alyssa, Abigail, Chloe, Laila, Maggie, Millie, Abby, Anastasia, Vasha and Lucy. Turn on the radio, what do you hear, Magill, Magill that s our cheer We re going to beat them, bust them, that s our custom...go Magill!

PRIMARY 3 GREEN COACH: MEREDITH ORTH Players: Mia, Matilda, Xin Yi, Naaz, Isabelle, Gukiran, Nuha, Claire, Kerensa and Lucy. CONGRATULATIONS SAPSASA NETBALL AND FOOTBALL NOMINEES Congratulations to the following students who have been nominated in the following fields: Madi H & Charlotte Mc - 12 & Under Netball Team to participate at a School Sport Australia Championship Declan N & Vasily A - 12 & Under Australian Football Team to participate at a School Sport Australia Championship. Well done!

KANGA GRICKET COACHES: SAM ENGLAND & GRANT LOVERING Players: Leon T, Archie C, Xavier S, Ben A, Lachlan I, Rohan D, Thomas V, Joel B, Ghazi, Finn L, Harry E, Mitchell E, Raul K, Rohan V The two Kanga senior teams have had a great start to the year winning the majority of their games and showing consistent improvement across the season. There was a great range of skill levels across the two teams from first gamers through to our "seasoned veterans " who have progressed through from Milo Cricket. We were fortunate enough to have numbers for two teams which gave all of the boys an extra bat or bowl most weeks to help develop their games. In saying that, we could always do with some more numbers, so if there's any other Year 2 or Year 3 boys or girls that would like to come out for a bash in Term 4 we would love to have them.

SAPSASA SWIMMING DISTRICT DAY On Tuesday 7 th March, Magill School participated in the Torrens River Swimming Carnival at the Norwood Outdoor Pool. This year we placed 2 nd, being beaten by St Ignatius by 12 points thanks to the 20 swimmers who represented Magill School. This is the highest number of swimmers to represent the school for many years. We welcomed 5 new competitors in the 10 year age group that we had not been represented in for several years. The team comprised the following students: 10 Year Old Girls - Bianca K, Holly C, Kiara C 11 Year Old Girls - Rosa H, Gabby E 12 Year Old Girls - Madi H, Charlotte McL, Ebony B 13 Year Old Girls - Sheida A 10 Year Old Boys - Sam H, Riky F 11 Year Old Boys - John McN, Abrian J, Torin B Following on from Torrens River Swimming Carnival, the following students were selected to compete at the State Metro Championships: Sheida A, Marley C, Keira C, Holly C, Riky F, Thomas G, Madi H, Bianca K, Max K and Charlotte Mc. Well done to all students who participated in both District and Metro Days. 12 Year Old Boys - Marley C, Sam C 13 Year Old Boys - Darcy E, Thomas G, Max K, Angus W
