Happy New Year and Welcome to 2018! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and were able to spend time with the ones you care about. We experienced an eventful start to the season with capacity crowds at several of our club events which will turn into club standards. As I look back on my first year as Club Manager, I believe we have made great strides in making Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club great again. Here is a list of some accomplishments over the last year. Membership: We have experienced continued interest in Spanish Wells lifestyle with all the phone calls and visits we handle and are approaching the 400-member mark. Golf Course: We began 2017 with some of the best playing conditions, sand was added to traps and the courses were all over seeded to fill in areas to make a more enjoyable experience. Golf: Record number of golf rounds recorded November through April. Member and daily fee rounds both increased. Our Golf Professional has brought on and developed a friendly team in the Golf Pro Shop to assist you and has the shop stocked with clothes & supplies to make your golfing experience more enjoyable. Food & Beverage: Developed a calendar with entertainment and dancing with more than 12 events last season. Upgraded wine glasses and developed a wine list with multiple tiers of each varietal available by the bottle or glass. Enhance entrée appearance with new plates and offer a variety of menu specials on lunch, dinner and our Football Sunday nights. New table presentations and menu covers in our Pub. Increased staff training and server appearance. The team focused on and improved buffet presentations, themed parties, food quality, and service. The whole community was invited to summer holiday picnics and BBQ.s
Fitness, Pool, Tennis & Bocce: All tennis & bocce courts were refurbished with new surface material and lines. New furniture and floats were added to the pool with music playing for your relaxation. New equipment in workout room and up-to-date fitness programming by Cara Corr. Clubhouse: Remodeled and painted Cabana bathrooms and main stairwell, adding artwork and lighting. Upgraded to LED bulbs throughout dining areas and carpets have been professionally cleaned. Front entrance makeover including fresh foliage, landscaping and a rebuilt painted fountain. When you look at it spelled out and with your continued help, Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club is back on the map. We want all of our members to be proud of their Club and enjoy it with family, friends & guests. Dining Reservations: In order to provide you with the proper service, it is important to know if you are dining with us. Please call 239.992.5100 x 202 and the F & B Manager will confirm your reservation. If you are making a reservation for a larger party, we ask that you provide the names of all the people in your party. On event nights such as the Nine n Dine Prime Rib Dinner buffet, we will book the room to our capacity. With that said, we will begin a waitlist for reservations that will be handled by the F&B Manager, Nicholas Billy. Please call early to make your reservation and Nicholas will confirm. At times, we will not be able to make changes to increase your reservation the day of if we have a waitlist to allow first. We will do everything in our power to be accommodating and organized when you call in for these events or when you dine. From The Green Side January starts an exciting time for the Spanish Wells Golfing Family. As you read this, the New Year is here and we have some great events scheduled along with some fantastic plans for the future. By now some have had a chance to welcome our three new staff members Jorgene, Marleen, and Theo. The Golf Shop has added numerous new offerings in clothing lines and January Golf Clinics will announced soon.
