Regularly serviced, the only semi major replacement required was a new fresh water cooling heat exchanger in 2015. Apart from that, clean fuel and clean oil have kept this engine starting at the first turn of the key every time, and every condition. We have changed the injectors and the normal pressure fuel pump not because they had failed, but to be sure before a long ocean passage. The 360 litres of fuel will power Intrepid for about 1000 miles at 2000 rpm. Construction Built with reinforced strings, chainplates and shrouds, Intrepid was constructed using vacuum glass fibre technique for maximum strength, and vinyl ester to prevent osmosis. The original fin keel was amended by Ed Dubois naval architects to a bulb keel with an extra 1/3 tonne low down to provide greater stiffness for speed and stability. It also makes a big foot for on land storage! Accommodation Master bedroom with en-suite provides a double and single bed, forward cabin with double V berth has adjacent 2nd bathroom, quarter berth provides additional accommodation and/or storage, 2 single berths in the saloon if required.
