Know Before You Go - Tournament Details Hello Kingston Invitational Teams! I hope you are looking forward to kicking off your summer next week at Kingston s 13th Annual Kingston Invitational Softball Tournament! The Kingston Kannons are looking forward to hosting you in Kingston, MA June 22nd-24th. The Tournament is hosted by the Kingston Youth Baseball and Softball League (KYBSL) and all games will be played at the OPACHINSKI field complex; located at the end of Pottle Street in downtown Kingston. In this Know Before You Go packet, you will find: 1. Tournament Schedule and Field Assignments 2. Opachinski Fields Complex Map 3. Facility Rules and Directions 4. Tournament and Home Run Derby Rules (attached to this email) Team Check In: Teams Managers/Coaches should check in at the REGISTRATION tent/t-shirt Stand near the Concession stand at least 1 hour prior to the start of your first game. Please bring with you a team roster that includes the following: Team Name and age group Coaches names Players names, date of birth and jersey numbers Insurance: Please have a copy of your PROOF OF INSURANCE on hand (copies are not required for South Shore Summer Softball League Teams). Home Run Derby: There will be a Home Run Derby for each age group. Upon check in, each Manager will nominate 1 player as their Home Run Derby contestant. Prizes will be awarded for the Champion and Runner Up in each age division. Home Run Derby times and fields are as follows (and also noted on the Pool Play Schedules): 10U - Saturday 2:20pm on B4 12U - Saturday 11:10am on B6 14U - Saturday 12:45pm on B5 Tournament Rules: A copy of the tournament rules can be printed here ( https://siplay-website-content-user.s3.amazonaws.com/portal/2556/content/documents/s oftball%20invitational/2017kirules.pdf ). They say 2017, but they are the same this year. Tournament Shirts: Shirts will be available to purchase on-site during the tournament. Tournament t-shirts are $20. Cash or check accepted.
Helmet Stickers: Each player will receive a helmet sticker for tournament participation. These will be provided at registration with your score cards. In addition, each team will give out one MVP button per game to the other team during Pool Play games. Rain Policy: In the event of rain, a rain policy will be distributed to the team Managers. Picnic Area: The Opachinski Complex offers plenty of space for teams and families to set up tents/picnic areas for their teams. Please review the facility rules below. Concession: The Opachinski Complex has a concession stand which offers a variety of food and snacks: Breakfast items Hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs Hot pretzels, popcorn and chips, fruit cups Ice coffee, lemonade, water, soda and Gatorade Ice cream, slushies etc. Restrooms: Located at the concession stand. Reporting Scores: You will receive scorecards at team check in. Each team must complete a scorecard after each game. The scorecard then needs to be turned into the Concession Stand in the box marked Scores. Pool Play results will then be updated accordingly. If there is a delay in receiving scores, there will be a delay in determining the seeding for Sunday. Due to the odd number of teams for 12U and 14U, one team in each age group was chosen at random to play an extra game to allow for all teams to play 3 games for pool play. 1 of the 4 games played will be dropped based on coin flip after all games have been played. We realize teams and parents want to know as soon as possible about Sunday games times so this will be done as soon as possible following the Pool Play games. At the conclusion of Saturday s games, the brackets will be determined for Sunday and all Managers will be notified via email. 3. Facility Rules and Directions Facility Rules Teams may practice on field behind softball fields, or in the outfield of B2. The field will be prepped for a Saturday 12:45pm game so outfield ONLY. Teams will need to be off during the game. No soft toss is allowed on the lacrosse nets, or against any of the fences. Teams should bring their own Bow Nets or they can use the batting cages for BP/soft toss. These are located in between B5 and B6, as well as beyond the outfield of B6. Parent and team spectators are the responsibility of the team Manager or Coach Any persons using Town of Kingston facilities do so at their own risk. No Dogs allowed in the Opachinski Complex and on any fields for safety and Board of Health reasons. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited from all Town fields. No tailgating including open fires or grills are allowed in the Opachinski Complex with the exception of grilling activities conducted at the concession stand. It is the responsibility of the field user to insure that any debris created by your group is properly disposed of prior to leaving the field. Failure to do so could result in the loss of field use privileges. Automobiles must park in spaces designated with a parking curb or be subject to towing. R/Vs must park in the overflow lot behind and adjacent to Field B1 at the entrance to the Opachinski Complex. No R/Vs may park in the main parking area. All players and vehicles must be out of the Opachinski Complex by 10:00 PM. Directions to the Opachinski Complex: Directions from the NORTH: (via Rte 3): Take Rte 3 to Exit 10. (Rte 53/Kingston/South Duxbury) Turn RIGHT onto Rte 3A/S. Duxbury Way (travel 0.3 mi) Turn LEFT at light onto 3A/Summer St. (travel 1 mi) Follow through one traffic light. Turn RIGHT onto Pottle Street just before the Railroad tracks/2nd traffic light. Follow Pottle Street for about 0.5 mile and the complex is at the end of the road. Directions from the SOUTH: (via Rte 3): Take Rte 3 to Exit 9. (Rte 3A/Kingston/N. Plymouth) Turn RIGHT onto Rte 3A/N. Main St (travel 1 mi) Turn LEFT at light onto 3A/Summer St. (travel 1 mi) Follow through three traffic lights. Turn LEFT onto Pottle Street just after the Railroad tracks Follow Pottle Street for about 0.5 mile and the complex is at the end of the road.
Directions from the WEST: (via Rte 106): Follow Rte 106 East into Kingston. When you reach Cumberland Farms, go slight left through the stop light onto Evergreen St. (travel 0.6 mi) At END, turn LEFT at light onto 3A/Summer St. Take immediate LEFT onto Pottle Street just after the Railroad tracks. Follow Pottle Street for about 0.5 mile and the complex is at the end of the road.
