Age Group Directors The purpose of the age group directors is to provide a supportive system to further the developmental path of specified age groups. The roles of our age group directors will be to monitor training and player development initiatives. Our goal is to focus on key areas of development for specific age groups and ensure that the training and game plans support these initiatives. Kevin C. Salmon: U9 (2009) and U10 (2008) Boys and Girls Director Ken Lue Chee Lip: U11 (2007) and U12 (2006) Boys and Girls Director Ben Kamara: U13 (2005) and U14 (2004) Boys and Girls Director Marie Schweitzer: U15 (2003) through U19 (1999) Girls Director Derek Biendl: U15 (2003) through U19 (1999) Boys Director 4

NVSC Philosophy Northern Virginia Soccer Club is a non-profit organization committed to providing the young boys and girls in Prince William County and beyond an effective environment to grow as a player and person. We at NVSC, are dedicated to developing each player and understand the true value of long term success comes through the appreciation of the training process versus the short term gratification of winning. We will not sacrifice the development of our young players to win a tournament or game. However, we will train our players to be competitive each time they step on the pitch. Once our players have come to value and embrace the training process, they will see for themselves the true reward from the beautiful game through their own experience on the field. 5

Soccer Leagues that our United Travel Teams play in: CCL - Club Champions League: The CCL is based on the philosophy that the player is a member of the club as well as a member of the team and that successful clubs develop players and teams from within. The Club Champions League (CCL) was founded on a simple concept that includes three main features, 1. Superior Competition, 2. A Model for Player Development and 3. A Governing Board made up of Professional Soccer Directors from each club. CCL has clubs in Virginia, Maryland and DC. CCL has two divisions, CCL I and CCL II, NVSC teams will be placed in both divisions. NCSL - National Capital Soccer League: A Metro DC area soccer league that covers all the way to West VA and Southern Maryland. Some of our United U17 - U19 teams will play in NCSL. 7

Leagues our United Travel Teams play in: U9 (2009) and U10 (2008) Boys and Girls will play in the CCL U9/10 Program, games will be within the Metro DC area, with Scrimmagefests hosted in Fredericksburg, VA U11 (2007) - U16 (2002) Boys and Girls will play in the CCL I and CCL II programs. CCL I teams will play all of the 15x other CCL I clubs once over the soccer year splitting games over the Fall and Spring seasons. CCL II teams will play in conferences with most games being in the Metro DC area. U17 (2001) - U19 (1999) Boys and Girls will play in the CCL I league and NCSL. CCL I teams will play all of the 15x CCL I clubs once over the soccer year but the game schedule for High School age teams in CCL I will be from Late August - Late February. NCSL teams will play the normal Fall (Sept to Nov) and Spring (April to June) NCSL schedule. Home games will be played at Hellwig Park and Valley View Park for our leagues. 13

League Games, Training and Tournaments for United teams: League Games: CCL I, CCL II and NCSL hold a majority of their games on Sundays, but there will be a Saturday game possible. CCL Scrimmagefests: Scheduled once a season for U9 and U10, will be held over a weekend, usually U9 on Saturday and U10 on Sunday (all scheduled around any league weekends) Season Training: U9 (2009) and U10 (2008) will train twice a week during their seasons. Also they will have a 3rd session during the week that is Street Soccer on Friday evenings, a mandatory activity. U11 (2007) through U15 (2003) will train twice a week during their seasons. Also they will have a 3rd session during the week that is Speed and Agility (6 week course) U16 (2002) through U19 (1999) will train three times a week during the fall months. One of those trainings will be an hour training specifically for tactical awareness. During the spring months we will hold a combined High School training once a month. Winter Training: U9 (2009) through U15 (2003) will train once a week at United Sportsplex in Manassas, VA during the months of January and February. U16 (2002) through U19 (1999) will train twice a week at Hellwig Park turf fields during December, January and February (taking the two weeks around the holidays off) Tournaments: U9 (2009) and U10 (2008): Four Tournaments plus two Scrimmagefests U11 (2007) through U14 (2004): Five (CCL I teams) or Four (CCL II) Tournaments (with options to do more requested by coaching staff with Technical Staff approval) U15 (2003) through U19 (1999) - Five (CCL I teams) or Four (CCL II or NCSL) Tournaments (with options to do more requested by coaching staff with Technical Staff approval) 14

Futsal: All U9 (2009) - U19 (1999) United teams will play in the United Futsal League that is held at United Sportsplex in Manassas, VA. League games will be held in January and February. Teams will be formed and rostered as they are rostered through VYSA, so if you are on a CCL II team during the season you will be on that team for Futsal for example. UFL will make every effort to place teams in divisions appropriate for their playing level. The staff of VA United FC will hold two Futsal training sessions for our teams prior to the season. They will also have a futsal coaching session for our coaching staff. No need to sign up for the Futsal program within our registration system, it is built into the fee structure. Much easier implementation and less work for the parents. With our partnership with VA United FC they will be holding an NVSC only tryout for their futsal program. If a player would like to play for NVSC and play futsal for VA United FC this would be the tryout for them. If the player makes both clubs then they would get a $65 discount on the VA United FC yearly fee. Also they would not play futsal over the winter for their NVSC Futsal team. 15

College Guidance Program - A Four Year Process: NVSC recognizes that playing travel soccer for a lot of players is a step towards playing in college. But the fact is that not every player will play in college so it was only natural that we generate a college guidance program for not only the athlete that plans to play College soccer, but for all our athletes who chose to pursue higher education. NVSC have chosen to work with Fallon Enterprise ( https://www.fallonenterprises.com/ ) to assist in providing college guidance to all our college bound NVSC members. With the assistance of Fallon Enterprise, NVSC will conduct two college prep seminars for all rising 9 th through 12 th graders. The first will be held between mid and late June, and the second in late August. NVSC has obtained the assistance of a videographer. The videographer will be able to videotape all game and generate individual player highlights as requested for those interested in playing college soccer. As a member of the Club Champions League (CCL), NVSC 9 th through 12 th graders will have access to a program that allow each player to take an unlimited amount of ACT, SAT, PSAT practice tests for free. Our goal for our college bound members and families is to provide as much support and make available as many tools as possible to assist your player with a positive experience in transitioning to college. 16

Super Y League Program: NVSC also provides an option for our players to play in the Super Y League. Super Y League is a youth soccer league with teams from the United States and Canada. Founded in 1999. Super Y League is dedicated to the progression of future professional players and has steered the course for development of elite clubs, players and coaches. Affiliated with U.S. Soccer, the Super Y League has opened countless doors for players to be identified for U.S. National Team programs. NVSC has teams in ages groups from U10 U19 boys and girls. Tryouts take place in January with additional players added throughout the spring if needed. In 2016 NVSC had five teams advance to the North American Finals at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida and our U10 & U11 girls won their division as well. This is a league for players to train and play competitive games throughout the summer months. 17
