Wow! The term is surely flying by now. Swimming Carnival Congratulations to Kroombit on their fantastic win yesterday! What a wonderful day we had yesterday at the Swimming Carnival. Thank you to my staff for your tremendous organisational skills to run such a smooth day. Thank you also to our amazing parents for their time and effort time keeping yesterday. It is a big job and we are very grateful that you worked with us to ensure a great day of participation and fun for all our students. Thank you also to our kids for their great behaviour, participation and sportsmanship throughout the day. There were some records broken yesterday. Congratulations to Jamen, Mackenna, Lincoln and Finn on their super fast times. Year 5/6 Camp What a fabulous week we had on North Keppel Island last week! The weather and the location could not have been more perfect. We had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities including snorkelling, outrigging, plankton Trawling, fishing and a multitude of lessons designed to teach us about sustainability and looking after our environment for future generations. It is hoped that we can now look at what it is we can do back here and at home to care for our environment for our future children. Thank you to Mr Carr, Mr Goodger and Mr Stewart for their help in supervising children during the week. It was great to have you along with us. Thank you also to Mrs Buchanan for helping out with all activities during the week. It was an action packed week and I am sure the children all enjoyed catching up on sleep over the weekend. MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of our school is to facilitate each child with reaching their level of excellence; Intellectually, academically, socially, morally and physically. 16th November 2016 Bob s 80 th Birthday On Monday 21 st November at 10:45am we will be having Cake with Bob to celebrate his 80 th Birthday. Please come along and share a cuppa and morning Tea with Bob and celebrate his birthday with him. Assessment It is assessment and report card writing time again. It is very important that your child attends school each and every day so that we can get assessment completed to write report card comments. Attendance Our attendance to date is sitting at 93.2%. We are nearly at our target of 94%. Well done everyone. Every day really does matter at Thangool State School. Class lists and Book Lists The class and book lists for 2017 will be coming home today so please look out for them in your child s bag. Leaving I am very saddened to inform you all that our wonderful office lady Mrs Sharon Devery will be leaving us at the end of the year. We wish her all the very best for her next adventures. Sharon, you will be missed by all of us. Bus and Morning Supervision I would like to remind you all that Supervision of your child at school starts at 8:15am. Children should not be coming to school or getting off buses until this time. If they are here prior to this time they are unsupervised by school staff. If you need to drop off children prior to this time please contact me and we can try and make arrangements for your child to keep them safe. We acknowledge the Gangulu people past and present on whose land we walk, we work and we live.

P&C NEWS. Swimming Carnival - Congratulations to Kroombit House on their win at the Interschool Swimming Carnival yesterday. Well Done to every student who participated, it was a fantastic day. Next Meeting - Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 22nd November at the Red Steer at 6.00pm. There will be a meeting first followed by a Buy Your Own Dinner afterwards. This will be our End Of Year Break Up. Everyone is welcome. Tuckshop - Fruit Salad Shakers are available for $3.00 each. Meat and Salad Shakers are $4.00 each and Salad Shakers are $3.00. New this term: Mini Fruit Cups for $1.00. We now have gluten free bread and gluten free wraps for children who are gluten intolerant. GLUTEN FREE CHICKEN NUGGETTS ARE NOW IN STOCK! We also keep Gluten Free Wraps. Tuckshop Volunteers, please join us at our End of Year Break Up at the Red Steer on the 22nd November 2016 from 6.00pm. If you wish to join in with School Banking at our school, please pop into the Commonwealth Bank in Biloela and mention School Banking at Thangool School. We will be having a school banking competition again this term and the prize will be a Dollarmite Prize pack. Simply bank 5 times via school banking this term to enter the draw. Uniforms - NEW Skorts and Shorts have arrived! Black School Jumpers with the logo on them are now in stock. These jumpers are $18.00each. We also have good supplies of all polo shirts. Uniform Orders will be filled on a Thursday. We are now specialling out the Black Unisex Basketball Shorts for $5.00, orders must be via the red bag. End Of Year Dance - The End of Year Dance is fast approaching. The P&C will be providing each student with a free sausage on bread and slushie. There will be other food items and drinks available for parents to purchase. We will also be selling Glow Sticks. Uniform Shop Days - There will be a uniform shop day held on Thursday 8th December (8-9am) and 2.30-3.30pm). We will also be having a uniform shop day on Thursday 19th January 2017 from 8.30am to 10.30am. Order forms can be collected from the office or from the school website. Edsco Online Book Ordering - Today, you will receive your book lists and class allocations for 2017. Once again, Edsco will again be offering parents the opportunity to purchase their book packs for delivery to their door. Orders must be placed by 7th December to qualify for free postage and postage tracking. Orders placed before this date should receive their order before Christmas.

Interhouse Swimming Carnival 2016 Yesterday, our Interhouse Swimming Carnival was held at the Biloela Aquatic Centre. The weather was beautiful and everyone had a fantastic day. Congratulations to Kroombit House who won the day with 532 points and Kariboe finished with 479 points. Well Done to all the swimmers who broke records and for everyone who particated. Special thanks to Dell for all her help in the lead up to the carnival and to Biloela Bluefins for the use of their equipment yesterday. Thank you to all the parents and grand parents that came along and supported all the children yesterday. Year 5-6 North Keppel Camp The Year 5-6 children spent last week at North Keppel. The location and weather were perfect and by all accounts every child had a fantastic time. Special thanks to Mr Goodger, Mr Stewart and Mr Carr for accompanying our kids and to Mrs Buchanan for helping to organise the activities.

Health News Wk 7 In Health, students are working on their class dances which will be presented on the evening of the 7th December - The School Dance. We are working on our teamwork skills as well as listening to and respecting other ideas, participating and doing our fair share, encouraging and helping others. When we are a team, we are all working together for a common goal. We hope you enjoy the class dances - they are working very hard on them.
