Page 1 of 6 Newsletter September 17, 2014 Captain's Report: Vickie Posner The slate of officers to be voted on at the October Annual Meeting are: Captain Carol Hansen Co-Captain Shirley Rigo Treasurer Nancy Strite Secretary Linda Testa Awards Maureen Twombley Boards of Directors nominees are Gloria Davis, Beverly Greene, Beth Pennington, Selga Sakss, Rosemary Sherman and Joanne Simmons. Members will choose three of these nominees for Board positions. The three people remaining on the Board for another year are Carole Bardes, Brooke Taliaferro, and Gina Bowden Pierce. Those running for an office or Board position should submit a short biography by next week. Please give that to Gina Bowden-Pierce. Linda Testa has absentee ballots for anyone who will not be in attendance at the Annual Meeting.

Page 2 of 6 Two Salty Sisters are running for the SPYC Board. They are Barbara Weller and Judy McFadden. Voting is Tuesday, October 14th, 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. Janet Walker introduced the class of 2014. They are Dee Gill, Gail Poffenberger, Katie Rodgers and Jennifer Parramore. Committee chairs should e-mail their job descriptions and annual reports to Linda Testa. Hard copies of job descriptions should also be provided to new chairs. Janet Walker, Chair of the Captain s Round Table, stated she would like suggestions of topics that might be discussed at the Round Table meetings. Janet Walker also advised the Salties that TJ Redderson is still in the hospital. GUESTS: No Guests this week. CO-CAPTAIN S REPORT: Carol Hansen Sailing was rained out today, but next week the Misfit and Chile races will continue. The Edie Pace Memorial Trophy Race will be October 8th. Hopefully, the Skipper s Hat race will be held in October. Gloria Davis, Selga Sakss, and Maridell Weaver displayed the thank you plaques they received for directing Twilight Sailing this summer.

FWSA: Selga Sakss Yesterday, September 16th, the FWSA General Meeting was held at the Clearwater YC hosted by the Bow Chasers. The Dingy Dames of Davis Island have extended the Ice Bucket Challenge to all of the FWSA clubs. Interclub: Oct. 7th, Salty Sisters host at SPSC. Sailors are needed for Prams and Sunfish. Also, please sign up for Race Committee or Safety Ashore. The Championship Regatta, Oct. 22nd is at Davis Island. There are two person teams competing in 420 s, spinnaker and non-spinnaker. Els Wiemken and Maureen Twombly have signed up for these events. See Selga Sakss for NOR s or check the FSWA web site. FWSA books are for sale for $5.
