The George H. Henderson Jr. or Angelina County Exposition Center has worked hard to clean up and update the facility, and we believe you will enjoy the changes they have made. Although the arena is not climate controlled, there are the big fans in and around the arena for air circulation. The stalls are on dirt, and there is a warm up arena available to use. For those of you who have RV s; the main hook-ups are on the north and east side of the stall barn. Please remember to keep the facility nice, Absolutely NOTHING may be TAPED, STAPLED, or NAILED onto ANY surface, including stalls, on the grounds except for the designated bulletin boards; otherwise fines will be imposed. Please place trash and manure in the dumpsters provided outside. Stall decorations are encouraged. Located in the beautiful Texas Forest Country, Lufkin is filled with surprises for all ages; and is located near major cities like Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Waco. The Expo Center facility is next to the Ellen Trout Park & Zoo. Nearby are three 18- hole golf courses, including Crown Colony Country Club; and Lake Sam Rayburn, the largest reservoir completely in the state of Texas. Also of interest is the Texas Forestry Museum and the Museum of East Texas. Downtown Lufkin has many eating establishments, unique retail shops and antique collections. A historic walking tour reveals the interesting history of Lufkin. There are five beautiful murals painted by Lance Hunter throughout the downtown area, each depicting historic businesses or tales of Lufkin. In city hall, you will find the Medford Western Art Collection, which features beautiful western art. Lufkin offers many different activities to enjoy during your time at the show. The map above is an area directional map to Lufkin. The Expo Center (designated above with the star ) is located off the north side of Ellen Trout Drive, TX Loop 287 and US Hwy 69 North; at 1200 Ellen Trout Drive. Turn north onto Martin Luther King Drive, which is along the west side of the Expo Center (between the Expo and the zoo), and go past the Expo Center coming in at Gate 7. It is approximately 170 miles southeast of Dallas, 165 miles east of Waco and 125 miles northeast of Houston. Our host hotel is Mainstay Suites (Bldg. A) {point B on the above map} and is next to the Sleep Inn & Suites (Bldg. B) The hotel is located 2.2 miles east of the Exposition Center, off of TX Loop 287 and US Hwy 69 North; at 2409 North Timberline Drive. It is a newer facility with an outdoor pool and hot tub, work-out room, business center, free hot breakfast, weekday newspaper and guest laundry room; a 24 hour convenience store, where snacks/drinks may be purchased, free wi-fi; pets are not allowed.
