Details of Senior s Competitions and Entry Fees The internal competitions portfolio is designed such that it appeals to all Seniors with their respective wide ranges of abilities and wishes. There are 41 Internal Competitions divided into 5 Competitions Categories: 12 Monthly Stableford competitions held one per month plus 1 Monthly Stableford Championship 6 Board competitions 12 Trophy competitions 8 Other competitions 2 Tabulated Awards; Seniors Order of Merit and Seniors Eclectic. All competitions have a max handicap allowance of 54 unless otherwise stated! Monthly Stableford Competition and Championship The Monthly Stablefords are a series of monthly individual Stableford events, played off Yellow Tees and the handicap allowance is full. There is a token for the winner of each month s competition. Monthly Stablefords classed as individual competitions but are part of the nominated competitions for Seniors who pay the annual Competition Entry Fee. There are two optional sweepstakes into which Seniors with a competition handicap may choose to enter neither, either or both. The fee payable on the day is 1 for the Positional Sweepstake for 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th places and 1 for the Additional Sweepstake. The Additional Sweepstake is one selected from: nearest-the-pin on the second, sixth, eleventh and eighteenth holes, nearest the pin in 2 on the fifth and fourteenth holes and nearest the pin on the second and eighteenth holes, 2s on the second, sixth, eleventh and eighteenth holes, 2s on any hole, nearest the pin in 3 on the third and fifteenth holes and nearest the pin in 2 on the seventh and fourteenth holes or gross birdies other combinations of target scores for nominated holes as decided by the Competitions Manager. The on the day sweepstake prizes are:
40%, 30%, 20% and 10% of the Entry Sweepstake fee for the Positional Sweepstake for 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th places respectively 100% of the Additional Sweepstake entry fee divided equally between all winners. All sweepstake winnings from Monthly Stablefords are posted to Seniors members club cards after the completion of the competition. If there are no winners of a Sweepstake the money is donated to the Seniors Captain s charity. The April to October Monthly Stablefords count towards to the Order of Merit. Monthly Stablefords from 1 st April to 31 st October are handicap qualifying while those from 1 st November to 31 st March are handicap qualifying if course conditions satisfy CONGU directives as confirmed by our greenkeeping staff. The winners of each Monthly Stableford Competition from 1 st April one year to 31 st March the following year qualify for a Handicap Qualifying play-off, played in May or June of the following year, to decide the Overall Monthly Stableford Champion and Runner-up. The Winner receives the Lilley Saunders Trophy and a Symbolic Take Home Trophy and the Runner-Up receives a Prize Voucher.! Arnie Baxendale Greensomes Board Competitions This event is for selected pairs (i.e. individuals may choose their Pairs partner) Each pair s team handicap allowance is calculated as 60% x lower individual playing handicap + 40% x higher individual playing handicap e.g. 12 & 19 = 14.8. It is a non handicap qualifying net Stroke Play competition played from White Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophies awarded to the winners and Prize Vouchers for the runners up! Walter Benbow Medal Trophy This is an individual handicap qualifying Medal event with a maximum handicap of 28 and full handicap allowance played off White Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home! Seniors Championship An individual handicap qualifying Medal event only for Seniors holding a Kilworth Springs held competition handicap. It is played off White Tees. The Seniors Champion will be the player with the lowest gross score. In the event of a tie there will be an 18 hole Medal playoff. To minimise pace of play issues the draw will take into account handicaps so that lower handicap players go out at the top of the draw followed by higher handicap players. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophy awarded to the winner and a Prize Voucher for the runner up with the next lowest gross score.

Seniors Championship Stableford Played simultaneously with the Seniors Championship this is an individual handicap qualifying Stableford event only for Seniors holding a Kilworth Springs held handicap. There is a full handicap allowance. It is played off White Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophy awarded to the winner and a Prize Voucher for the runner up with the best Stableford scores.! Nick Melvin Memorial Cup With a full handicap allowance and played from White Tees this is an individual handicap qualifying Medal event. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophy awarded to the winner and a Prize Voucher for the runner up.! John Benson Match Play Singles Knockout This is a non handicap qualifying Singles Match Play competition played from White Tees with a full handicap difference between players. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Takehome Trophy Competitions! Janssens/Ransom Pairs Bogey This is a non handicap qualifying drawn pairs better ball event with a 90% handicap allowance. It is played from yellow tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophies awarded to the winners and Prize Vouchers to the runners up.! Spring Pairs Cup A non handicap qualifying drawn pairs better ball Stableford event with a 90% handicap allowance that is played from the Yellow Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophies awarded to the winners and Prize Voucher for the runners up.! Four Club Challenge Played from the Yellow Tees this is a non handicap qualifying Stableford event with a full handicap allowance. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophy awarded to the winner and a Prize Voucher for the runner up.
! Des O`Brien Summer Trophy An individual handicap qualifying medal event this has a maximum handicap of 28 and full handicap allowance and is played from Yellow Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Takehome! John Murphy Texas Scramble This non handicap qualifying medal team event is a four Ball Team Scramble (which may contain three Ball Teams if the number of entries are not divisible by 4). The team handicap allowance is one tenth of the combined individual playing handicaps for teams of four and one sixth for teams of three. It is played from the Yellow Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophies awarded to the winners.! The Seniors Captain s Medal With a full handicap allowance and played from Yellow Tees this is an individual handicap qualifying Medal event. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophy awarded to the winner and a Prize Voucher for the runner up.! Peter Hall Bogey Competition This is an individual handicap qualifying event with a maximum handicap of 28 and full handicap allowance played off Yellow Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home! Stableford Joker This is a handicap qualifying iyellow Tees Stableford competition with full handicap allowance in which competitors may nominate one hole on the front nine and one hole on the back nine where their Stableford score counts double. However players cannot nominate a par 3 hole where they receive two strokes. There is a Symbolic Take-home! Pairs Pinehurst Competition This is a non handicap qualifying competition. It is a selected Pairs Medal event played off Yellow Tees. Each pair has a team handicap calculated as 60% of the individual lower playing handicap plus 40% of the individual higher playing handicap e.g. 12 & 19 = 14.8. Each player in each pair hits a drive on all holes. For the second shot Player A hits Player B's ball and vice versa. The team then decides which of the second shots is the better to play for the third shot. Only one ball is played for the third shot. If this is Player A's second shot ball then Player B plays it or vice versa. A and B then play alternate shots with this ball until they hole the ball. Note: Each ball incurs any penalty when it happens to it. The player rotation remains. For example Player A hits his ball from the tee Out Of Bounds. Player B plays three from the tee with Player A s provisional ball.
The net score for the round is the gross score minus the team handicap. The lowest net score wins. There are Symbolic Take-home Trophies for the winners and Prize Vouchers for the runners-up.! Autumn Tankard (Eric Tetchner Autumn Foursomes) This non handicap qualifying drawn Foursomes medal event has a pair s handicap allowance of ½ combined individual playing handicaps. It is played from the Yellow Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophies awarded to the winners and Prize Vouchers for the runners up.! Hicks / Liddington Cup Pairs Knock-out This is a non handicap qualifying selected pairs better ball match play event with a 90% handicap difference taken from the lowest handicapped player in the match. It is played from the White Tees. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophies awarded to the winners and Prize Vouchers for the runners up.! Winter League This is a handicap qualifying, if course conditions satisfy CONGU directives as confirmed by our green-keeping staff, individual Stableford event, played off Yellow Tees, where the handicap allowance is full. It comprises seven rounds with the winner being the competitor with the highest cumulative Stableford score over his best five rounds. In the event of a tie between two or more players there will a further 18 hole Stableford play-off round to determine the winner. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home Trophy awarded to the winner and a Prize Voucher awarded to the runner up. As with the Monthly Stableford competitions, described above, there are two on-the-day optional 1 sweepstakes, for each of the seven rounds. Other Competitions! Captain s Kick Off The Seniors Captain s Kick Off event is the first of the season. It is open to all Seniors and is a non handicap qualifying four ball Texas Scramble medal. The team handicap allowance is one tenth of the combined team members playing handicaps for teams of four and one sixth of the combined team members individual handicaps for teams of three. It is played from the Yellow Tees. There is an entry fee which covers the cost of the post-competition meal. The Seniors Captain decides what prizes to award and may use his discretion to allow non competitive handicap Seniors to play.
! Seniors Captain v Seniors Vice Captain The Captain versus Vice Captain is a non handicap qualifying team event, played off Yellow Tees, to raise money for the Seniors Captain s charity. The Seniors Captain designs the event and determines both entry fees (for donation to his nominated charity) and individual prizes, and then organises and hosts it. Each team s numbers depend on the number of entrants. The Seniors Captain and Vice Captain may use their discretion to invite guests e.g. representatives from the charity to play in this event.! Boobies and Wrinklies The Seniors Captain and the Ladies Captain design, organise and host this non handicap qualifying event. Normally it is a non handicap qualifying Seniors and Ladies Texas Scramble Stableford event. This involves two Seniors and two Ladies per team of four. Seniors play off Yellow Tees and the Ladies from Red Tees. The Gentleman s Stroke indices are used. Ladies add three to their individual handicaps. When the Texas Scramble design is used teams of four have a team handicap of one tenth of combined individual handicaps while teams of three have a team handicap of one sixth of combined individual handicaps. There are normally no entry fees and the Seniors and Ladies Captain decide symbolic prizes.! Seniors Captain s Away Day The Seniors Captain s Away Day is the special event of the Seniors Section s year, designed and organised by the Seniors Captain. It is open to all members of the Seniors Section and there is an entry fee to cover green fees and dinner costs. It is subsidised by the Seniors Section by an amount decided each year by the Seniors Committee. It is a non handicap qualifying competition. The Seniors Captain, in conjunction with the Seniors Committee, determines entry fees and symbolic prizes each year. There is a Trophy awarded to the individual winner and a Symbolic Take-home Trophy may be awarded on the day at the Seniors Captain s discretion.! Beauties v Beasts This is the Seniors Section versus the Ladies Section team event. The match format is non handicap qualifying better-ball pairs Match Play. Seniors play off Yellow Tees and the Ladies from Red Tees. The Ladies add three to their individual handicaps. Then, in each match, three players receive 90% of the difference between their handicap and that of the lowest handicap player. The Seniors Captain and the Ladies Captain organise and host this event and decide how many pairs play. There are no entry fees. The winning team receives the Beauty v Beast Bowl.
! Seniors Open The Seniors Open is a non handicap qualifying better ball Stableford pairs competition open to pairs comprising any one of three options: - Both players from Kilworth Springs - One player from Kilworth Springs and one from another club - Both players from another club. It is played from Yellow Tees with a 90% handicap allowance and maximum handicap 28. Entry fees and competition symbolic prizes are decided annually by the Seniors Committee.! Lefties v Righties The informal Lefties v Righties Invitational match is to be played in the September 2018 festival. It is a team event in which: - One team, is comprised of right handed golfers - One team, is comprised of left handed golfers which may include those who play golf partially left handed or who are left handed naturally but play golf right handed or those who are made honorary left handed golfers on the day. Each team comprises Seniors and invited members of staff. There is a meal afterwards which is a curry. It is a pre-requisite of selection by each Team Captain that team members eat a curry unless given special dispensation from the Team Captain. The format is individual Stableford played off Yellow tees. Each individual Stableford score in each team is added together and divided by the number of players in the team to calculate the team score. The winning team is the one with the higher Stableford score per player. The winners of the event receive the Lefties v Righties Trophy.! Christmas Texas Scramble This medal event is a non handicap qualifying drawn 4 Ball Texas Scramble with a four member team handicap allowance of one tenth of the combined individual playing handicaps and a three member team handicap allowance of one sixth of the combined individual handicaps. It is played from the Yellow Tees. Each year following the competition there is a celebration dinner designed and organised by the Seniors Committee and hosted by the Seniors Captain. Following dinner there are prizes giving for the on-the-day competition Symbolic Prizes for each member of all participating teams, for the Club Trophies, and for the Symbolic Take-home Trophies and Prize Vouchers for winners and runners-up of all the nominated competitions during the season. Ticket prices for playing in the competition and having dinner are set by the Seniors Committee each year
! Order of Merit The Order of Merit is not a separate played competition but is awarded to the Senior who amasses the highest number of points from the 13 Seniors Committee nominated handicap qualifying singles competitions during the Competitions Summer Season. Points for each of these competitions are awarded as 10 for first place, 9 for second place and so on until 1 for tenth place. The thirteen competitions are: 7 Monthly Stablefords for April, May, June, July, August, September and October 6 of the singles Board and Trophy Competitions namely Nick Melvin Memorial Trophy, Walter Benbow Trophy, Seniors Championship Stableford, Des O Brien Summer Shield, Seniors Captain s Medal and Peter Hall Bogey. In the event of a tie between two or more players there will be a further 18 hole medal round played off White tees to determine the winner. There is a Trophy and Symbolic Take-home trophy for the winner and a Prize Voucher for the runner-up.! Del Spicer Eclectic Competition This is not a separate played competition but is awarded to the Senior with the lowest Gross round score calculated from his lowest gross score for each hole in all Seniors singles competitions played from yellow tees from the start of November one year to the end of October the following year. There is an engraved club Trophy for the winner of the competition but no Symbolic Takehome Trophy or Prize Voucher.
