Young equestrians vie for team and individual FEI medals in the three Olympic equestrian disciplines of dressage, show jumping, eventing, and the Para-Olympic discipline of para-dressage. The competition is the only FEI championship held annually on this continent. JUNIOR & YOUNG RIDER TEAM SELECTION Two riders for each team will be determined from the 2018 Zone 10 NAJC and NAYRC Standings. Two riders and one alternate for each team will be based on points accumulated through the Zone 10 Trials. Riders top 3 scores to count from the 4 trials. In the event the trial system does not produce any riders who can attend the Championships the remaining riders and alternate will be selected using the Zone 10 NAJC and NAYRC Standings. JUNIOR TRIALS Minimum of $5,000 in prize money in each Trial. Fence heights will be 1.40m (4 7 ) with spreads of 1.40m to 1.60m. Course must include at least one double and one triple combination (or three doubles). Speed of 375 meters/minute (350m/m for indoor venues). An open water jump is mandatory with a minimum of 12 (3.65m) spread. YOUNG RIDER TRIALS Minimum of $7,500 in prize money in each Trial. Fence heights will be 1.45m (4 9 ) with spreads of 1.50m to 1.70m. Course must include at least one double and one triple combination (or three doubles). SHP JUNIOR & YOUNG RIDER TEAM SELECTION TRIAL Each Trial consists of 2 classes: Friday, May 18th: First class is Table C. Half point class (pointed as a $10,000 class). Sunday, May 20th: Second class is Table A 273.3.2.4.1. Full point class (pointed as a $25,000 class). PASSPORTS There will be a passport inspection and jog on Friday, May 18 prior to the start of the Junior and Young Rider Trials. The purpose of the inspections is to encourage preparation. A horse/rider combination will not be eliminated from the Selection Trial if their passport contains a deficiency or correction.

JUMPERS JUMPER ES: In all jumper classes, ties involving first place will be jumped off. Ties not involving first place will be broken by the fastest time. Orders will be drawn per USEF JP112. Time allowed to be based on a minimum speed of 382 yards per minute for all jumper divisions. Table II, 2(c) classes - power phase to be timed. * Indicates bonus point class. Horses must show in at least one other class in their respective division at this show to be eligible for a Classic. Grand Prix horses must show in at least one 1.30m - 1.45m Jumper Class at this show to be eligible for the Grand Prix. Riders must ride for awards in Grand Prix and Classics to be awarded the prize money. Horses do not need to show in a class to qualify to show in Open Jumper Classics. See Rule 34. HUNTERS HUNTER ES: Hunter sections will be judged on performance and soundness. Manners shall be emphasized and extreme speed penalized in all Junior and Pony Classes. In the Children s, Adult Amateur and non-rated hunter sections, horses will not be jogged for soundness. Management reserves the right to combine or cancel any divisions with insufficient entries. The annual Championship will be held the same week as the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship. The Green Hunter Incentive Program is open to horses of any age that are eligible to compete as a green hunter at 3' or 3'3 fence heights under Federation rules. Horses must be enrolled in the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Program and pay the annual enrollment fee to participate in the Green Hunter Stake classes and to be eligible for the Green Hunter Championship. Horses must be registered with USHJA and recorded with USEF to participate. HUNTER SEAT MEDALS WITH 2018 FINALS HOSTED AT SHP HUNTER SEAT MEDALS CPHA HORSEMANSHIP MEDAL 2 6 CPHA Horsemanship Medal Finals hosted at HMI Equestrian Classic, July 25-29, 2018 725 $50 This class is open to child and adult riders who in the past 10 years have never WON any medal, equitation, hunter or jumper class with fences 3 or higher. In addition any rider who has competed in any classes within the last 10 years with fences set at 3 3 is not eligible to compete in this class. Riders must maintain their eligibility until after the finals. Trainers and riders must be members of the CPHA prior to riding in this class. The class will be held over a 2 6 course with a minimum of eight fences, no combinations and at least two changes of direction. One test of either a halt or trot fence must be included in the course. At least three riders must complete the course. Three (3) points qualifies for the finals. Points for 5 or more riders: 6-4-3-2-1 Points for 4 riders: 4-3-2-1. Points for 3 riders: 3-2-1. CPHA CHILD/ADULT MEDAL 3 CPHA Child/Adult Medal Finals hosted at HMI Equestrian Classic, July 25-29, 2018 726 $50 This class is open to child and adult riders who in the past 10 years have never won any medal, equitation, hunter or jumper class with fences that may be set at 3 3 or higher. In addition any rider who has competed in any classes within the last 10 years with fences set at 3 6 is not eligible to compete in this class. The class will be held over a 3 course with a minimum of eight fences with at least two changes of direction and a combination. At least two riders shall work off using USEF tests1-8. Any class with 30 or more riders the class must be split (California split) with two sets of awards and two sets of ribbons to be distributed. Points for 5 or more riders: 6-4-3-2-1. No work off is required; but further testing is at the judge s discretion (USEF tests 1-19). Points awarded to top eight riders: 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Riders will receive double points in classes with fifteen or more riders. Six points required to qualify a rider for the Medal Finals. Winner may continue to compete throughout the year. Five riders must complete the course. Finals hosted at Strides & Tides (Sept 12-16, 2018). Finals winner to receive a CWD Saddle. No memberships required. PICKWICK JR/AM MEDAL 3 3 Pickwick Jr/Am Medal Finals hosted at SHP Season Finale, September 19-23, 2018 728 $50 To be shown over a jumper course of no less than eight fences approximately 3 3 in height. To be judged on hands, seat, guidance and control of the horse. Jumper-type horses are encouraged, and jumper equipment is allowed. A time allowed will be based on a speed of 360 yards per minute. The judge will give a numerical score for each competitor s round. The announcer will announce the judge s numerical score and then deduct time faults as follows: One point for each commenced second over the time allowed. Three refusals. There will be no work-off. Four contestants are required for the class to count. Points awarded to top eight riders: 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Riders will receive double points in classes with fifteen or more riders.
