We must be doing something right at the moment as the weather gods have been very nice to the girls and boys to date. Saturday was a great day and whilst the day deteriorated, the final siren sounded as the rain came down. Our netball girls were too strong on the day and all of the teams had good wins. The Under 9's, 12 reserves and 14 seniors were the only teams on the day not to get a win, with the 12's going down by a couple of goals and the 14's by 3 points. Overall all games were played to a high standard. The next day at a cold Western oval our Lakers Girls team won their first game! Well done to the girls, Fiona and Tim. It was also good to see some of our boys there to support the girls. DATES TO REMEMBER Parents Night 80 s Footy Theme Night - Saturday 23rd June Lock away the 23rd June for a 80's Footy function for parents. Dads get out your Warwick Capper Shorts and Mum's your duffle coats for what will be a fun night at the Invermay Hall. Tickets will be $20 per person. Racial & Religious Comments made at Junior Football/Netball The Ballarat Football Netball League has made a concerted effort in 2012 to try and stamp out all forms of racial and religious vilification from our league through the promotion of our respect matters program that includes our no
limits message of social inclusion of people from all backgrounds. Over the past few weeks, the league has had to deal with issues relating to prejudicial comments made in relation to race and religion, and what makes this even more disappointing is that it has occurred in our Junior competition. With tough new sanctions to protect players, officials and spectators from vilification, the Ballarat FNL is serious about creating an environment that welcomes people from all backgrounds into Australian football and netball. The BFNL has requested we raise this matter with all players, officials and spectators at all clubs to raise the awareness of the league s stance on this matter. Please note that a zero tolerance approach will be taken against those who decide to breach the league s policies. The BFNL are serious about creating an all inclusive environment at all of our clubs so that people from all walks of life feel welcome and included at all times. ** MILESTONES ** Congratulations to Sam Le Lievre who will plays his 50th game this week.
