Intersteps Championship 2012 Driver Package www.motaworld.co.uk
For 2012 Motaworld Racing will be running a 3 car team in the UK Intersteps Championship. Motaworld Racing are one of the most experienced teams in the pitlane in respect of the Intersteps (Formula BMW) car, having run these cars since 2004 in UK, European and Pacific championships. The Championship is fully supported by the MSA and the Racing Steps Foundation and is intended to provide professional racing on a cost effective and affordable budget. With the inception of the Intersteps Championship, the first step of the career path for young drivers has now been clearly established. Therefore the Intersteps Championship offers the perfect solution for the step from Karts to cars, providing drivers with opportunities to race at top UK circuits and develop their skills, techniques and race craft. The Intersteps Championship is a one make Championship employing the current Mygale FB02 car which has been used worldwide by BMW in their Formula BMW Championships. Rules are strictly enforced to ensure that all cars deliver the same performance thereby making the Intersteps Championship a level playing field for all drivers. The Intersteps Championship provides a quality platform to launch young drivers careers as rounds will be run at national, high profile race meetings including Dunlop Great and British events and a World Touring Car event.
The Intersteps Championship is the ONLY single seater championship approved by the MSA that allows 15 year olds to take part thus allowing youngsters to benefit from training very early in their careers.the Intersteps Championship will be a first class training ground for young racing drivers. Education is key to any driver development and through the involvement of the MSA and Racing Steps Foundation the Intersteps Championship is able to offer it s competitors lecturing and mentoring opportunities in what it will take to become a champion. The Intersteps Championship recognises the importance of the academic year and avoids race tests and meetings during the May/June exam period. Also, the race meetings are planned to minimise disruption to drivers day-to-day education (on which the organisers place enormous importance). Accordingly test sessions will be scheduled for the final hour of Friday running. Early-Sunday afternoon finishes will be given top priority too when race weekend programmes are formulated.. Currently it is anticipated that the 2012 Championship will be run over 8 events, and consist of 22 races.
The Intersteps Championship will benefit from TV coverage including stand alone 30 minute programmes on Motors TV. For 2012,it is planned that there will be 6 Official test days held both prior to and during the season. It is expected that one of the official test days will also include an initial induction where drivers will experience a race day format, go through scrutineering, visit race control and practice race starts. Through the MSA Academy Master Classes, competitors will be tutored in areas relevant to their future success in motor sport. Subjects will include motivation, nutrition, fitness, media and mechanical skills.

* Motaworld Racing was established in 1991 by Alan Waite and has competed both at National and International level. During the nineties several seasons were spent competing in the Formula Opel Euro series before switching to Formula Renault in 1999 both in UK and Europe. Formula 3 was added to the team portfolio in 2002 and Formula BMW UK in 2005 to 2007, then Formula BMW Europe and Formula BMW Pacific in 2008 to 2010. Motaworld also took part in the first year of the Autosport Young Guns Championship in 2010, the team drivers winning 11 out of the 14 races before entering the inaugural year of the Intersteps Championship in 2011 taking 2 race wins, 11 podiums, 2 pole positions and 3 fastest laps. For 2012 an old partnership has again rekindled with Motaworld merging with Andy Stapley Motorsport thereby further enhancing the competitive nature of the team. Andy Stapley is an extremely experienced race engineer and has worked with many top UK teams including Carlin Motorsport and Double R Racing. Like Alan Waite, he is extremely experienced in Formula BMW having run cars in the UK, European and Pacific Championships. It was in Asia where this partnership previously flourished with many successes, the best taking the top 2 podium steps at Macau. A brief review of Motaworld s recent years follows.
