1 RACE INFORMATION 1.1 GENERAL The Dandelion Festival and the Municipality of North Grenville are pleased to announce the 2013 edition of the equinelle Grand Prix Criterium (EQ GP). The Dandelion Festival, which takes place in Kemptville, Ontario on May 25 & 26, 2013, will feature the EQ GP Pro/Am Criterium and an Open criterium on Sunday May 26th, 2013 Proudly, the EQ GP is entering its second year of being on the Canadian National Road Calendar where the Elite Women and Elite Men will be competing for a cash purse of over $6,000 in front of close to 3000 festival spectators. The EQ GP will take place in the afternoon and early evening on Sunday May 26th, 2013 as per the schedule below. Entry is by pre-registration only. No day-of registration will be available. All participants must be prepared to present their license upon demand at the event. License must be presented during race package pick-up. Version2.0 Page 3 of 12
Athletes competing for a team different than the team indicated on license must present a signed release letter from their team permitting them to ride for the other team. Release letters will not be accepted if the rider s licensed team is also registered for the event. 2.1 PRO/AM CRITERIUM MEN S & WOMEN S ELITE RACES The men s and women s elite races are CC sanctioned National Level races open to: Provincial teams National teams (maximum four foreign national teams) Canadian trade teams / clubs affiliated UCI licensed riders The men s and women s elite races are open to athletes licensed to compete in the Elite Men or Elite Women categories only. 2.2 OPEN CRITERIUM RACE The Open race is a CC sanctioned National Level race open to athletes licensed to compete in the Master or Junior categories only. This is a combined Men s & Women s field. 2.3 REGISTRATION Event is pre-registration only. No registrations will be accepted on the day of the event. Pre-registration is available at: www.ontariocycling.org Pre-registration closes Thursday May 23/13 at 11:59pm Entry fee prior to May 19 is $40 plus applicable taxes and service fees. Entry Fee prior to May 23 midnight is $50 plus applicable taxes and service fees. Elite athletes registered past the deadline will be fined $50. For the open race there is day of registration available at $65 until 11:00am There is a 100 rider field limit for each race. If you are registering a team please contact the race director with your complete roster information. Team entries must still complete the online registration process by the specified deadline. 5 EVENT RULES rider package pick-up will be available as per the schedule outlined above rider and/or team manager must pick-up race packages at the Race Headquarters competitor sign-in is required following package pick-up (location to be announced) sign-in closes 15 minutes prior to the start a team manager/rider meeting will be held as per the schedule outlined above number placement: first number must be over the right back pocket without overlapping the seam the second number must be on the right back pocket without overlapping the seam do not trim race numbers or number plates it is the riders responsibility to ensure that their race numbers are readable riders with race numbers that are unreadable may not get a placing and may forfeit their prizes warming up on the course is not permitted while other races are in progress no feeding is permitted a free lap may be granted for each recognised mishap (a fall, a puncture, breakage of an essential part of the bicycle, being held up by a crash) all other incidents, including improperly maintained bicycles, are considered unrecognised mishaps and no free lap will be granted riders suffering mishaps shall head directly to the designated pit area via any means other than travelling backwards on the course and report to the pit commissaire the pit commissaire shall determine if a free lap is to be granted at the direction of the pit commissaire only, riders will be allowed to resume the race at the rear of the group they were riding with when their mishap occurred no free laps will be given in the final 5 laps of the event (as determined by the position of the leaders) bicycle repairs may be made in the official pit area only Version2.0 Page 6 of 12
riders are encouraged to bring their own spare wheels to be placed in the pit the start of their race dropped riders may be pulled at the order of the Commissaires, either after being lapped or just before being lapped any dropped riders must remain separate, even when being overtaken by riders in their own group if two or more riders overtake the field and remain there when there is less than 5km left in the race from the perspective of the race leader, the overtaking riders will be sprinted separately from the field. Instructions on this process will be given at the team manager/rider meeting any rider withdrawing from the race must immediately report their DNF to a commissaire there will not be any team vehicles permitted on the course in case of lightning, the race may be delayed or cancelled. If you are informed that the race has been stopped due to lightning, you are advised to seek shelter until the race can resume 5.1 SPECIFIC TECHNICAL RULES the event(s) will be run under CCA/UCI rules the UCI scale of penalties will apply UCI points will not be awarded equipment regulations will be enforced with no exceptions approved cycling helmets are mandatory and must be worn and securely fastened while training, warming up, and participating in the event traditional wheels or approved non-standard wheels are permitted (visit http://www.uci.ch for the list of approved non-standard wheels) only standard handlebars are permitted handlebar extensions, including time-trial bar extensions or other type of tri-bars are not permitted riders are required to wear jerseys corresponding to the club or team printed on their license independent riders are required to wear plain coloured jerseys with no significant logos or team names or advertising on them sleeveless jerseys are not permitted two-way radios are not permitted for use by riders and managers the use of glass containers or personal music players is prohibited during the race gear restrictions may be in effect for Junior riders in the Open race 5.2 RACE DISTANCES Open race 50 minutes plus 5 laps Elite Women 60 minutes plus 5 laps Elite/Master Men 90 minutes plus 5 laps Course will be closed to traffic From 12:00 noon until after the Elite Races There is no feed zone Version2.0 Page 7 of 12
6 EVENT LOCATION The event is being held in Kemptville, Ontario Directions: http://goo.gl/maps/mh7az Race Head Quarters will be at the North Grenville District High School on the course. Use the South entrance. Anti-doping will be located in the phys-ed office of the High School. Follow the Signs. Parking for the event is behind the high school. Teams wishing to park on course must have vehicles in before 12:00 noon as the roads will be shut down and there will be no access or exit from then on. For those wishing to leave early please park off course.
