This is new to us this year. In the past, this instruction to players was illegal. This instruction is offered for free where in the past parents would have to pay outside coaching for this sort of instruction. We are also finalizing the planning for the first of our 10 available summer coaching days. We are finalizing the summer schedule and pressing to ensure that our students are finishing strong in the eligibility quarter. Spring always brings hope. I believe that this spring brings more hope than most. Mr. Denny Morrison, Superintendent, has taken our school system by storm with his experience, enthusiasm, and hard work. His energy seems to be energizing all of us including our students. We are equally excited by the work of our new Athletic Director, Mark Stoll. He has worked tirelessly with his vast experience to reset our path and our method of operations. We are all given so much hope that we are on a path to success with these two additions. Hope also comes as I believe that we are all seeing the vision of Armic and Edna Adams come to fruition. Our spring weight lifting numbers are very strong in the number of student athletes who are working, the variety of sports that they are coming to us from, and ultimately in the gains being made. The vision that the Adams Trust had for developing the athletes of Xenia can be seen every day in our room. Dreams are being made to come true one drop of sweat at a time. Last year, we saw our first 1400 pound total (Tyler Steward) in the Bench, Squat, and Dead lift. This year before our final spring testing we have already had a sophomore (Cody Smith) Bench 300 pounds! More reasons for optimism. The Adams Trust has added pop up dummies, a new chute, and a target net for improving the training of our football players. The fence on our practice field has been moved and the surface work is beginning. We are very excited about this improvement which came from the district as the construction came to completion. I have been contacted by alumni about the week 3 game this season where Cincinnati Moeller comes to Cox Stadium. Moeller is the defending 2 time State Division 1 Champion. With the GWOC rotating Centerville and Wayne off of our schedule, this opportunity came our way and we believed it would create excitement. Apparently it has. We are hoping that we will pack the house for our chance to challenge the best Ohio has to offer. As you can see, there is much to be excited about in Xenia. I hope you will join our hardworking Touchdown Club in helping us build towards our potential. Coach Bob DeLong
