A moment of silence was taken to acknowledge the death of Mark Burgermeister, former employee of the Road Commission. Attorney Juby advised his is working on license agreements for private road crossing. Commissioner Slusarski moved that the minutes of the board meeting held April 19, 2018 be approved. Commissioner Emery seconded the motion. Motion carried. Commissioner Emery moved approval of the April 27, 2018 payroll of $113,482.72. Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Commissioner Slusarski moved approval of the May 3, 2018 payables of $332,219.41. Commissioner Emery seconded the motion. Motion carried. Foreman Brower reported on the work schedule. Fleet and Facilities Manager Ramsdell discussed repairs being made to equipment 930904, 910246 and 910234. Mechanics have been working on routine repairs and maintenance. County Commissioner Driskill advised the board on county events. Bill Tucker of Stevens, Kirinovic & Tucker P.C. presented the 2017 Audit. Commissioner Slusarski seconded the motion. Motion carried. Operations Manager Schnaidt presented the Tire bids with a recommendation to approve Tommy Tire. Commissioner Slusarski moved to approve Tommy Tire for the 2018 Tire bids. Commissioner Emery seconded the motion. Motion carried.

May 3, 2018 33 Operations Manager Schnaidt provided information to the board regarding a mini excavator. LCRC has demoed three mini excavators recently. Employees Chad Gilliland and Cory Tilton tried each machine and advised the board of their experience with each machine. Both employees preferred operating the MI Cat. Payback for Education will be held on May 9, 2018. Operations Manager Schnaidt advised Stoneco is crushing at the Wheaton pit and is about one week ahead of schedule. Commissioner Emery moved to accept the 2017 audit report as presented. Commissioner Slusarski seconded the motion. Motion carried. Commissioner Slusarski motioned to approve the ACT 51 report as presented. Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Commissioner Emery moved to approve the 2017 Annual Report. Commissioner Slusarski seconded. Motion carried. Commissioner Slusarski moved that Managing Director Merillat be authorized to sign the contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation for Contract No. 2018-0415. Railroad force account work for the installation of flashinglight signals and half-roadway gates at the Indiana & Ohio Railway Company (RAILROAD) highway-railroad grade crossing of Weston Road, to be authorized by MDOT under MDOT s Master Agreement 2007-5242 with Indiana & Ohio Railroad Company. Motion supported by Commissioner Emery. YEAS: Commissioners Emery, Wilson, and Slusarski. NAYS: None. Motion carried. Commissioner Emery moved that Managing Director Merillat be authorized to sign the contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation for Contract No. 2018-0416. Commissioner Slusarski moved to approve hiring two additional Non-CDL Drivers. Commissioner Emery seconded the motion. Motion carried.
