Newcastle is a fabulous city in the north of England boasting excellent transport links, great accommodation options and, most importantly, one of the best sporting venues in the UK; Sport Central. The venue regularly hosts major professional sporting fixtures and is ideally suited to an event like this. Newcastle itself is a hot spot for fencing boasting one of the UK s few dedicated fencing centres and a number of very strong clubs which have produced many international fencers. England Fencing is keen to showcase the event so as to promote the sport widely and to engage with the local community. OFFICIAL DINNERS We expect to be holding official evening events on the nights of Thursday 26 th July and Monday 30th July. Tickets will be available through the Online Management System and during the event if available. CATERING There will be extensive catering options both on and very near the site. Official Accommodation can be tailored to include breakfast and dinner if required. ENTRIES Entry Fees will be GBP60 per individual entry GBP140 per team entry Note that it is a condition of entry that all fencers and team staff use the official accommodation. REFEREE LEVY In accordance with the CFF Championship rules, we will charge a referee levy which has been set at 70 per individual entry. This covers the cost of all the referees who attend the event excluding two international referees paid for by the event. TEAM STAFF A certain number of team staff accreditation are provided free of charge depending on the number of entries from your federation. TICKETING Everyone entering the event will need either an accreditation or a ticket Ticket prices will be GBP12 per day or GBP45 for a whole 8 day event ticket. Children aged 10 and under will be allowed free entry but must still book a ticket All tickets will be available to purchase online prior to the event or at the ticket desk in the social area during event (if available) A limited number of premium tickets will be available including VIP seating and an exclusive merchandise item EVENT FORMAT The event will be run across 24 pistes in three areas. Last 16 stages onwards for individual events will be held in the finals hall on four coloured pistes. Each evening there will be a gala finals session featuring high level of presentation covering all medal matches Semi finals in each weapon will be run concurrently followed by each gold medal match in turn. VENUE Sport Central is a multi-purpose sports centre and events arena located in the heart of Newcastle. It forms part of the Northumbria University campus and houses facilities for swimming, track running, climbing, golf, squash, basketball, netball, badminton, and volleyball. The main sports and events arena has a capacity for over 3,000 spectators.sport Central opened in 2010, at a cost of 30 million. It is the home of British Basketball League team Newcastle Eagles, and Netball Superleague side Team Northumbria. 5

OFFICIAL ACCOMMODATION Official Accommodation must be booked through the Online Management System Accommodation for Fencers & Team Staff We have three accommodation blocks available for fencers and team staff. All options include individual rooms (no twins) with either en suite or shared bathroom facilities. These are student type flats comprising several individual bedrooms and communal meeting areas. We will always put federation teams together in flats. Note that each flat must contain at least one person who is over 18 Note that it is a condition of entry that all fencers and team staff use the official accommodation. New Bridge Street (En Suite Bathrooms) New Bridge Street offers ensuite accommodation less than a five-minute walk to the venue. Each flat in New Bridge Street has between four to seven bedrooms sharing an open plan kitchen/living area and a small communal area is available in the reception. This area includes a pool table and table tennis. It has a Sainsbury s Local at the top of the street and it is located across the road from City Campus East, which has its own restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday. Winn Studios (En Suite Bathrooms) Winn Studios also offers ensuite accommodation and is a five to seven minute walk from the venue. Each flat has between four to ten bedrooms sharing an open plan kitchen/living area and a small communal area is available in the reception, which includes a pool table. Room Only Bed & Breakfast Half Board Win Studios GBP58 tbc tbc Glenamara House (Shared bathrooms) Glenamara House is more traditional student accommodation with each flat sharing shower and toilet facilities but is the closest to the venue at around 2 minutes walk. All of the bedrooms have recently been refurbished and offer three quarter beds with a washbasin in each room Each flat has between six to eight bedrooms sharing an open plan kitchen/living area. Accomodation for Friends and Family We can provide accomodation very close to the venue for family and supporters. This must also be booked through the OMS. Trinity Square Trinity Square is a twenty minute walk from Sports Central or one stop on the Metro. All rooms in Trinity Square are ensuite, have double beds and guests will also have access to our small onsite gym. Most flats either have three or five bedrooms per flat and we would allocate families together. There are also indivudal Studio flats available in Trinity House with kitchens. TRANSPORT Airport Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is located approximately 6 miles from the city centre on the northern outskirts of the city near Ponteland and is the larger of the two main airports serving the North East. It is connected to the city centre by both train and the Metro Light Rail system and a journey into Newcastle city centre where the venue and accommodation is takes approximately 20 minutes. The airport handles over five million passengers per year, and is the tenth largest, and the fastest growing regional airport in the UK and over 90 destinations are available worldwide. Major international hubs served by Newcastle are London Heathrow (British Airways), Dubai (Emirates), Amsterdam (KLM) Paris (Air France) all of which have between 1 and 4 daily flights to Newcastle Train Newcastle Central Station is on the main East Coast line and has direct connections to London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Road Newcastle is on the A1, one of the main roads linking Scotland to the south of England on the east side of the UK Parking There is very limited parking on the University Site itself but there are number of multistorey car parks close to the venue 10

Some of the major tourist draws to the area include Castles; Alnwick Castle (used in Harry Potter films), Bamburgh Castle & Newcastle Castle Museums : The Discovery Museum, The Biscuit Factory, The Great North Museum Historical Sites: Hadrian s Wall, Roman Forts and Museums Durham City & Cathedral Lindesfarne Island We will be providing organised excursions designed to suit groups of fencers on days off.
