People Movers Instructions: Be sure to keep runners moving There is no stopping, standing, waiting, stretching, etc. for anyone If necessary, call security to move a runner or running group Key phrases to runners: Please keep moving, do not stop Water, Gatorade and medals are ahead The post-race party is just ahead, keep moving Example: Volunteer: Great job runners, please keep moving, water and Gatorade are ahead! Runner: but my friend is back there, I m waiting on them. Volunteer: Please keep moving, you can wait for your friend at the Post- Race Party Runner: But but... Volunteer: Keep moving you can not stop or wait here Pro tip: Just back there typically means they separated at mile 3. If not told to move, they could be waiting upwards of 20 minutes.
Gatorade Gatorade distribution Three Four layers per table Serve from the northern most tables first Keep volunteers behind the tables as much as possible Keep the area behind the tables clean Tri-table rotation system Two primary serving tables (skirted) One secondary serving table (skirted) Move to serving position when necessary Mix/pre-table (not skirted) Continue to mix until 11:00 a.m.
Water Instructions One bottle per runner Cut open the packaging; do not completely remove from the bottles Volunteers should remain behind the tables and should not take water towards the finish line. Only open pallets of water when needed; do not remove the pallet wrap from every pallet. Water volunteers can assist medal and Gatorade volunteers if needed before the first finisher or between waves. Do not remover pallet wrap until all cases of water are used
Remember Medals Volunteers must stay behind taped zones to allow runners to continue through the distribution zone. Medals will be delivered to the park in cardboard boxes and will be unpacked and hung on the medal racks on Saturday by volunteers. The medals will be covered with pallet covers overnight to secure them and protect against rain/weather. MarthonFoto photographers should remain in their photo boxes Important Each runner should ONLY receive onefinisher medal. If non-registered (no bib number) runners accompany the Finisher through the zone they are NOT ALLOWED to take a finisher s medal. Volunteers are NOT allowed to take medals.
Food Instructions Place tables against the curb not in the center of the street. Separate banana bunches and stack on the first four tables. Place boxes of unpacked food on the remaining tables; remove box flaps Instruct volunteers to hand each runner one (1) of each food item. Replenish the bananas and food items throughout the morning. Place the Mariano's bags on the last table and allow runners to take one bag. Do not allow runners to take more than one of each food item. At the conclusion of the event, stack all remaining bananas in boxes, consolidate food and re-palletize Remember Bananas and cardboard boxes are compostable!
Runner Refresh Exit Instructions Reduce the standing space within the fences Eliminate right angles where possible. Direct runners to gear check and prevent them from sitting/waiting along the fences.
