We are super excited t cntinue this lng lasting traditin this fall. Cntained in the handbk are multiple items that will help give yu guidance int this seasn under new leadership. Yu ll find ur team rules and regulatins, basic team schedule, team gals & missin, and all f the caches inf fr cmmunicatin. We are here t prvide the best experience pssible fr the athletes. GROUPS The team is brken dwn int fur grups. These grups are Varsity, Diving, JV1, & JV2. During the first day f practice Senirs & Junirs will attend the first sessin, and the Sphmres & Freshman will attend the secnd sessin. There will be a brief meeting, frms will be handed ut and then the kids will get in the water fr a small wrkut. This wrkut will give the caches the ability t place each f the swimmers int the grup which best suits the athlete s ability level. Emails will be sent ut that night and lists will als be psted n the lcker rm dr. This desn t mean that a swimmer is stuck in that grup fr the rest f the seasn. If a swimmer shws the prgress necessary and the caches agree, the swimmer can mve up grups at any time. Fr divers, there is a JV and Varsity separatin as well, but all the divers wrk with ne cach. - VARSITY: 100% Cmmitment/attendance 10 Practice/Week (4 x AMs, 5 x PMs, & 1 x Sat) 6 Sessins f Strength & Cnditining (2 Weight Rm, 4 Dryland) All Ages Minimum Events = 10 (Nt including Champinship meets) - JUNIOR VARSITY 1: 100% Cmmitment/attendance 7 Practice/Week (2 x AMs, 5 x PMs) 3 Sessins f Strength & Cnditining (3 Dryland) All Ages Minimum Events = 6 (Nt including Champinship meets) - JUNIOR VARSITY 2: 100% Cmmitment/attendance 5 Practice/Week (5 x PMs) Freshman & Sphmre (Junirs & Senirs nly at Caches discretin) Minimum Events = 1 (Nt including Champinship meets) - DIVING: 100% Cmmitment/attendance 7 Practice/Week (2 x AMs, 5 x PMs) 6 Sessins f Strength & Cnditining (2 Weight Rm, Dryland and Stretching befre practice M-Th) Must cmplete 6 dives befre Green/Gld meet TEAM RULES & INFORMATION - Equipment Training equipment will be prvided r will be available fr all grups Varsity ONLY will be receiving an equipment bag with their required equipment inside the bag. The bag must be returned at the end f the seasn in rder t receive yur seasn awards. 4
Prper dryland equipment is required! Prper gym shes! Shrts! Cmfrtable tp - NO CLUB AFILIATED APPAREL N Club Team caps during any prtin f the seasn. Training suits are fine as lng as there is n club lg n it. Clthes and ther apparel must be SHS nly if it s a team activity f ANY kind. We all cmpete fr SHS during these 3 mnths s that is the ONLY apparel we want t see. - Attendance Plicy Athletes are required t attend 100% f practices. If need t miss practice, it must cleared by cach! Meet participatin will be decided by the caches based n wh has been attending practices. Excused r Unexcused. BE ON TIME!! Being 10-15mins early is On time! Walking n deck right when practice starts in NOT! Be 100% prepared t enter the water at the start f practice First tw ffenses are verbal warnings Third ffense is email t parents Furth ffense is 1 Meet suspensin Unexcused practice penalty! 1 st Offense: 1 Meet suspensin! 2 nd Offense: 2 Meet Suspensin! 3 rd Offense: 3 Meet Suspensin etc.! Cmmunicatin is the mst imprtant part f absences. Please cmmunicate with yur cach abut dates yu will be missing because f a schl r ther extracurricular activities. Caches wuld prefer a list f all the dates an athlete will be missing at the beginning f the seasn r at least a week befre the absence. Illness Absences! Yu get 1 free excused absence fr being sick r ill. This must be cmmunicated immediately t yur cach.! Cmmunicating an illness after a practice has passed will cunt as unexcused.! Any further absences will nly be excused frm a dctr s nte r a nte frm the schl nurse. - Participatin Recgnitin In rder t be recgnized as participating in the Girls Swimming & Diving prgram yu must cmpete in the minimum number f events fr each grup and als the final/champinship event. If the swimmer des nt d s they will nt be rewarded the minimum participatin award. - Academic Standards fllw the SHS Athletic C-Curricular Cde f Cnduct - Schedule There is a basic schedule fr ALL grups in this handbk but the schedule is always flexible. There is always a pssibility f changes. 5
A Ggle calendar will be set up fr all grups plus ur Meet schedule & Team Events that everyne can sync t their mbile devices.! If yu have any truble with this please cntact the Head Cach - Patrit Pride Cap at the end f each week, each grup will verbally nminate n wh demnstrated Patrit Pride the mst. Frm thse nminatins, the cach f the grup will decide wh gets the wear the gld Team cap the fllwing week. Once yur week is ver yu lse the cap. Yu may retain the cap if nminated again. - BE RESPECTFUL TO YOUR TEAMMATES, YOUR COACHES, & YOUR SCHOOL! SWIM MEETS During the seasn the team will participate in multiple types f meets. We have Dual meets, Invitatinals, and Champinship meets. We will prvide a brief explanatin f each type f meet. Dual Meets: Dual meets are between Stevensn and ne ther team. These meets take place during the schl week, and fr the mst part are n either Tuesdays r Thursdays. These meets typically start at 5:00pm and they usually last abut tw and a half r three hurs. The caching staff decides upn athlete participatin in these meets. Unfrtunately nt everyne will be able t participate in every meet but the caching staff will d their best t give everyne as many pprtunities as pssible. If we are able t bring everyne t the meet, each event will have a heat f JV2, JV, and then Varsity. Diving will als have this separatin fr scring, but all divers participate during the diving prtin f the meet. SCORING: PLACE " 1 st 2 nd 3 rd 4 th 5 th 6 th RELAYS 8 4 2 INDIVIDUALS 6 4 3 2 1 0 Invitatinals: Invitatinals are meets that include a number f different teams. These meets take place n Saturdays. Fr a swimmer t g t an Invitatin they will be infrmed by the Head Cach that they are participating in the meet. Mst invites begin at 1:00pm and last abut three t three and a half hurs. Invites can be the nrmal high schl rder f events r it can be relay events that the hst team picks. Invitatins als include diving, and the Diving Cach will let the divers knw wh will be participating in each f these meets. Diving invitatinals typically start at 9:00am. Champinship Meets: Champinship meets are the meets at the end f the seasn. These meets are Prairie Lake Invite, Cnference, Sectinals, and State. The Prairie Lake Invite is fr all swimmers and divers that will nt be participating in the Cnference r Sectinal Meets. The Cnference and Sectinal Meets are selectin meets, and the Head Swimming and Diving Caches will select the team members fr these meets. The State Meet is a qualifying meet, and nly swimmers wh participate in Sectinals and make the qualifying standards qualify t swim at State. T qualify a swimmer r diver must when the Sectinal, r make a State qualifying time standard. INDIVIDUALS 16 13 12 11 10 9 7 5 4 3 2 1 Transprtatin t Meets: The schl will prvide transprtatin fr all athletes t every away meet. The head cach will send ut emails infrming everyne when they need t be n the bus and an apprximate time when we wuld be returning. We will als prvide an address t the pl they are cmpeting in. Athletes are required t travel t the meet and back with the team n the bus. The nly way an athlete may ride with parents hme if a nte is delivered t the head cach 24hrs befre hand and has been apprved thrugh the Athletic Department. Head Cach will decide n what the traveling apparel is fr that meet. TEAM APPAREL All team members are required t have a team suit, and swimmers are als required t have a team cap at all cmpetitins. The schl pays fr a prtin f the suit and cap, and yu will find this infrmatin f the suit rder frm. Swimmers and divers will als have the pprtunity t buy team apparel. We will be having a fitting day that will be annunced by the head cach, where athletes can lk at the different apparel and try it n. All frms will have due dates n the frm. PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES S many times peple frget that it is the parents that keep ur sprt running. Withut yur incredible effrts t get yur children where they need t be when they need t be there, we wuld have n team. That is why we want t give all the parents special thanks befre we even get started this seasn. The caches truly appreciate the wrk yu d and the sacrifices yu make fr yur children and ur team.
