Jake McCasland (0-2, 6.00) is slated to start on the mound for the Giants tonight. Following the current series versus the Quakes, San Jose will continue their homestand with a four-game set against the Inland Empire 66ers Friday-Monday. Split In Stockton The Giants split four games with the host Stockton Ports in a series that concluded last Sunday. Stockton earned victories of 8-2 on Thursday and 13-2 on Saturday. The 13 runs allowed by San Jose on Saturday was a season-high. The Giants two wins in the series were by an 8-5 margin on Friday and 5-0 on Sunday their first shutout of the season. The four-game set was the fourth straight weekend series for San Jose against Stockton (Giants won 7 of 13 games). Inside The Record Despite wins in two out of their last three games, the Giants enter this evening s contest just 7-13 in their last 20 contests following a 7-4 start to the season. Carbonell (3-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI, SB) led off the contest with a home run before his three-run shot in the top of the ninth broke the game open. Johneshwy Fargas (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) also delivered a key run-scoring double for the Giants. Reyes notched his first win of the season after tossing five scoreless innings. Reyes worked around four hits and four walks during his 91-pitch outing. He struck out two. Simpson and Halstead then each threw two innings out of the bullpen. Halstead struck out five and recorded the save. Denard Span Rehab San Francisco Giants outfielder Denard Span is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment with San Jose tonight. Span is recovering from a sprained right shoulder that he sustained when colliding with the fence at Colorado on April 22. Span is batting.200 (10-for-50) with four doubles and two RBI s in 14 games for San Francisco this season. The 33-year old owns a career batting average of.283 with 1,259 hits, 48 home runs and 164 stolen bases over 10 major league seasons (Minnesota 2008-12, Washington 2013-15, San Francisco 2016-17). Home Woes The Giants have lost seven out of their last nine games at home. San Jose s 5-8 mark at Municipal Stadium this season is the worst home record in the league. The Giants are averaging just 4.1 runs per game at home (5.7 road). Aramis Garcia Aramis Garcia enters tonight s contest having homered in back-to-back games. The former second round draft pick and #9 prospect (Baseball America) in the San Francisco organization leads the Giants in home runs (6) and RBI s (22) over just 15 games this season (.350 AVG). No Giants player has homered in three straight games this year. Garcia was activated from the disabled list last Wednesday after missing 12 games due to a concussion sustained on April 20. In four games since his return, Garcia is 5-for-14 (.357 AVG) with three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI s. The Long Ball The Giants are second in the California League with 29 home runs this season (Rancho Cucamonga leads with 34). Individually, Aramis Garcia is tied for second in the league in homers (6) while Gio Brusa, Dillon Dobson and Ryan Howard are tied for eighth with four home runs each. Struggling Starters Giants starting pitchers own a 6.04 ERA and a 6-15 record this season. San Jose starters have worked past the fifth inning in only six out of 31 games this year. Giants starters have walked 84 batters in 129 2/3 innings (87 ER). The San Jose bullpen has a 4.06 ERA this season and the fewest blown saves in the league (2). San Francisco Affiliation This year marks San Jose s 30th season as an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants the longest current partnership in the California League. Since their inception in 1988, the San Jose Giants have won six league championships (1998, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010), 11 North Division titles and qualified for the playoffs 22 times (in 29 seasons).
