DFA Coaching Development Plan 2017-2020

Coaching Development plan Introduction The main purpose of educating coaches is to prepare competent coaches for teams at all levels starting from Grassroots up to the national teams, to conduct regular trainings and to prepare high skilled football players. All models given by the main football countries in the world highlight the absolute necessity to train the young players at the early age, with the pratical standards according to the age, from discovery and introduction (as 5-6 y. old) to the end of the formation (18-20 y. old). Football associations and clubs have the need and responsibility to educate the youth, to become not only good players, but also to be better citizens with an education, human values, with respect and fair play. There is no education, learning process without the involvement of experts, with education and knowledge. The future of football is in the hands of coaches.

Coaching Development plan - Objectives There is clearly a lack of qualified coaches and educators in Dominica Football. This deficiency is visible at all the levels of football, in youth clubs, seniors clubs and with the national teams. To increase the number and the quality of the coaches and educators is one of the priority to develop the football in Dominica. The requirements : To Prepare a Dominica Coaching Curriculum based on Concacaf Coaching system. To increase competence and number of the coaches and educators, and gradual adaptation to coaching licensing system over the coming years. To recruit and train coaches to become instructors to further teach the courses. To set up a programme to follow-up and to assist the coaches and educators in the long term. To propose refresher courses to keep coaches and educators up to date. To increase the level of qualifications with international experience or the presence of international expert for the coaches in charge of national teams.

CONCACAF Courses The CONCACAF development policy concentrates on a key principle: To train the trainers, and to disseminate knowledge to qualified instructors in all four fields of football development, i.e. Coaching, Refereeing, Administration and sports Medicine. CONCACAF launched in 2013, the CONCACAF Coaching Licensing System. This licensing program seeks to set and promote benchmarks regarding coaching on the continent and help recognize coaches for their knowledge and experience. The CONCACAF Coaching Licensing System serves as a platform to evaluate coaches and to inject more professionalism into the art of coaching, aimed at reaching homogeneous and high professional standards. The ultimate objective is to ensure a steady raise in the quality and level of coaching in the Confederation, and to guarantee that each coach or any coach operating in Central America, North America or in Caribean Islands possess the relevant license to perform his or her duties.
