To celebrate the College s 175th anniversary, a new set of logos are being introduced for use beginning June 2018 through June 2019. 1. the 175th anniversary logo This guide is intended to help the College celebrate its anniversary, and reinforce the visual brand identity of the College in order to enhance its reputation. The 175th Anniversary Logo should be a minimum of 2 wide
Examples of Using the 175th Anniversary Logo 1. the 175th anniversary logo with anniversary tagline This logo is intended to replace the current logo in virtually all cases during the year of celebration. The use of this logo is not limited to events or programs that are explicitly connected to the 175th anniversary. Instead, this logo should be used throughout the year for any and all occasions. While we encourage use of this 175th Anniversary Logo as much as possible, it is not mandated; it is not necessary to buy new letterhead or purchase new signs. The idea is to use this 175th Anniversary Logo as much as reasonably possible. Whenever you might use the College logo, an effort should be made to use the 175th Anniversary Logo instead. The shape may not be altered. A portion of the logo may not be used; only the entire logo may be used. (But see 175th Anniversary Shield, below) The colors may not be changed. Other designs should not touch, overlap, or infringe on the logo. Examples of Using the 175th Anniversary Shield Social media Banners and decoration Promotional materials, clothing, 1843 2018 There may be instances when the 175th Anniversary Logo is too large or detailed. In those cases, it may be appropriate to use one of these 175th Anniversary Shields. Take care in using the 175th Anniversary Shield. Because it is a more simple presentation, it is not as readily identifiable and does not have the Holy Cross name. Use of the 175th Anniversary Shield will be most successful when the context makes it clear that this is Holy Cross. The 175th Anniversary Shield may be used as a secondary or supplemental feature. current logo 175th anniversary logo When compared to the standard College logo, there are a few significant differences with the 175th Anniversary Logo. The shape of a cross has been added to the anniversary logo. This required that the underlying sun be raised up slightly within the shield. After the anniversary year is over, our plan is to remove the 175, but retain the new cross and positioning of the sun. logo after anniversary year This will leave us with a slightly modified, new College logo with a more obvious and clear cross as part of the design. a note about the difference
Examples of Using the Athletics 175th Anniversary Shields To help celebrate the College s anniversary, the Athletics 175th Anniversary Shield should be used in a wide variety of settings. Like the 175th Anniversary Logo, use of the Athletics 175th Anniversary Shield is not mandated. Instead, use of the Athletics 175th Anniversary Shield is encouraged as much as is reasonably possible. Unlike the 175th Anniversary Logo, the Athletics 175th Anniversary Shield is intended to be used in combination with the standard interlocking HC logo. For example, a uniform shirt might have the interlocking HC on the left chest and have the Athletics 175th Anniversary Shield on the right sleeve. The College of the Holy Cross seal and Formal Logo are reserved for special, formal applications such as official College documents, Presidential reports, diplomas, applications, and other uses as determined by the President. Out of respect for the College s traditional seal, the seal itself is not being modified. We encourage the use of this Formal Logo with anniversary tagline as much as possible in formal applications. Like the 175th Anniversary Logo, the use of the Formal Logo with anniversary tagline is optional. The idea is to use the Formal Logo with anniversary tagline as much as reasonably possible.
