P a g e 2 Chris Brundege by Tom Culmsee PASS Loses Chris by Tom Culmsee It is with painful sorrow that I must report the death of one of our most beloved members, Chris Brundege. Chris lost a battle to recover from triple bypass heart surgery just this week on March 3rd. Very devoted to his family, he is survived by a son and teenage daughter. Chris is an original member of PASS, having joined in our first year of formation in 1977. He was active in model soaring on and off over the years. Life, family and an early career in the US Coast Guard would bring absences here and there, but sooner or later we would eventually see his infectious smile back at the flying field. Always a gentleman and friendly toward everyone, Chris could be counted upon to lend a hand wherever it was needed. He loved gliders and scratch built a number of less usual designs including one he was especially fond of, the Bubble Dancer. Most recently he took an interest in model sailboat racing and took that enthusiasm to the local OMYC sailing club. But we continued to see him here and there including recent PASS banquets where he attended to keep in touch with his soaring friends. He will be greatly missed by anyone who met him. I will miss the guy who really knew how to tie a knot.
P a g e 3 PASS meeting minutes 02-10-2015 PASS February 2015 meeting notes Called to order by Prez Bruce about 7:30 pm Tom C. gave the treasurer s report. Field lease has yet to be finalized and paid. In process. Tom noted that membership renewals have opened at a good pace... thanks and please keep it up! Tom C. talked about the annual banquet. Attendance was low... down to 22 this year compared to 42 last year. Anyone with suggestions for improving attendance, please give them to Tom or Bruce. Dave J. agreed to do the Humongous Raffle again for next year. Curt Coleman does the attendance raffle at every meeting. It was noted that you don t have to attend the banquet to win any of the raffle prizes. TC noted that our annual dues of $50/yr. is still very low compared to other clubs. The Seattle glider club for example is at $200/yr. Tom C. noted that he and Tom Brightbill went to the Monroe, WA swap meet. Tom said it was large, well attended and he sold lots of mdse on his table. Well worth the trip. Prez Bruce mentioned the McMinnville swap meet is March 15 th and also worth attending. Some discussion on field use during the Oregon downpour for about 3 weeks... don t go out of your way to make mud pies or stand in deep puddles! It did sound like Bruce Alber wanted the mysterious Field Czars to measure the water depth and motion fliers to higher and dryer ground when appropriate!!! Under show n tell Tom C. brought in his new Xplorer-2 light electric for ALES competition. Gorgeous airplane and all up weight RTF of 55 oz.!!!! John S. showed a couple unique ideas he has recently developed. One is a modification to a pliers for making easy Z bends in wire. The second was a nicely developed release system for a pilot/chute from a glider. Respectfully submitted by faux secretary Roger Breedlove
