Golf News HWGA The HWGA held their -Guest Golf Tournament and Luncheon on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. This years theme was "Around the World in Eighteen Holes Trip". It was a fun day and the Italian buffet was delicious. The winners are as follows. First place low gross (171) - Lucy Loomis, Peg Sharp, Susan Hodgens and Ann Dodson Second place low gross (174) - Sonja Johnson, Tracey Sillitto, Lisa Zen and Pat Roberts First place low net (123) - Paulette Welsch, Gabrielle Eno, Loretta Book and Rosemary Graham Second place low net (124) - Diane Dorton, Carol Roberts, Pat Wilson and Kathy Gilliland Closest to the flag Dogwood #8 - Sandra Shelley and Pat Roberts Longest drive Azalea #9 - Lucy Loomis and Lisa Zen LADIES 9-HOLE GOLF GROUP On May 9 th, the Ladies Nine-Hole Golf group had a spectacular day for their Interclub tournament. Sixty-three golfers from Houndslake, Cedar Creek, The Reserve, Woodside, and Savannah Lakes battled it out on the Azalea and Dogwood courses. The Houndslake winners were Lynn Caravello (1 st place Dogwood team), Ann James (3 rd place Azalea team), and Virginia Schultz (longest drive). Following golf, the group met in the dining room for a scrumptious buffet lunch including herb encrusted pork loin, blended root veggies, and garlic parmesan roasted potatoes. Those lucky enough to play Dogwood were greeted on the 9 th fairway by mouth-watering smells wafting down from the kitchen! All in all, it was a very successful event and many positive comments were received by our members and visitors. Thanks to the many members who helped out with this event and made it happen. (Virginia Schultz) The L9HG s last day of the season was Wednesday, May 23, 2018. The ladies played a low-putts tournament and many of the members showed up for lunch. Garden Club News Summer Time and the living is easy! Best wishes to each and all of you for a wonderful and interesting vacation this summer. While you are at it pay attention to things in your yard that you like and those you don't. Take a tour of your yard, notice the eye sore items and make a plan to take care of them. What would you like? How do you change things to make the attractive things show up better? Try to see how you can keep the costs down. You will be surprised how much you can accomplish when you have a plan. The other thing we'd like you to begin to plan is how to put the Houndslake Garden Club in your schedule! We meet September through May on the third Friday. I can guarantee you will really enjoy your time with a group of people that have put their attention to seeing and appreciating the attractiveness of this area and to learn a bit about what makes our area so very special.
