SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL
INTRODUCTION 01 PRUI was formed in May 2004 by seven friends who foresaw the purpose of developing the sport and culture of Rugby Union in Indonesia. Prior to the formation of PRUI, Rugby had been played in Indonesia as a social sport for more than 40 years (mainly by expatriates) and historic records show that Dutch and British nationals also played rugby during the early part of the 20 th century. Since it s establishment, the Union has become a Full Member of World Rugby and has been recognised as an Indonesian National Sport. In 2015, PRUI developed a revised Strategic Plan, to direct the Union s activities over the next four years until December 2018, when Indonesian Rugby will host Rugby Sevens at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
02 The INDONESIAN RUGBY strategic plan covers the following 5 areas: Solid Leadership and Governance to ensure that PRUI is well directed and managed Focus on Participation and Development to grow the game through development and tournaments Encourage the integration of Women s Rugby on a nationwide basis Strengthen the Performance of the various National Teams Increase the Profile and Commercial value of the Union by raising awareness and creating business opportunities

get into rugby PROGRAM 07 The focus in any country is Schools & Community Rugby which allows young girls and boys the opportunity to play and enjoy the Game. Thanks to World Rugby s great new initiative called Get Into Rugby or GIR, Indonesian Rugby now has a fantastic way to introduce the Game to Indonesian children. GIR East Nusa Tenggara GIR Banten To date there have been over 1,300 GIR participants in Indonesia. In 2016, PRUI aims to increase this number to over 4,500 participants. For more info on GIR: www.irbgetintorugby.com. Indonesian Rugby provides a wonderful opportunity to companies or institutions with a real sense of Corporate Social Responsibility as Indonesian school children and youths invariably lack the ability to participate in organised sport of any form, let alone Rugby. Rugby also provides an empowering opportunity for women and girls to participate in what for some is their first sporting experience and Indonesia Rugby actively supports and encourages this through GIR. There is no greater way to do something for children and youths than to teach them the value of sport through Rugby and how its lessons can teach them so much about what lies ahead in life. PRUI provides trained Rugby Development Officers (RDO s) to serve in this all important role but they need your financial help to carry out their great community work. Women s Rugby 09 Indonesian Rugby aims to develop Women s Rugby in line with the growth of the Game for Women in other parts of Asia and throughout the World. Indonesian Rugby recognises the benefits of physical activity and participation in organized sport to Indonesian women and that current women s player numbers and established competitions are behind those of the men s, and are actively working towards correcting this so that the sport can achieve gender equality. Indonesian rugby also recognized that a one size fits all model may not apply to women s rugby in Indonesia when you consider the different roles women have in Indonesian society. The women s rugby development sponsorship reflects this and aims to close the gap between the men s and the women s sport. Your sponsorship will go towards establishing a junior girls and senior women s competition in Jakarta and the regions, and to programs which will educate and empower women to be coaches, officials and leaders who will be role models to younger girls, to show them that there is a place for everyone within the Indonesian Rugby community. Indonesian Rugby is also encouraging women to become coaches, referees, team managers, volunteers and administrators in the Game.
