It was FAN TASTIC! We made enough extra to purchase some new pa o tables and chairs which were very much needed. This is what your club is all about. The fairways are beginning to green up. Hope everyone is ge ng out and playing a lot of golf. We want to remind everyone that we do not allow walkers on Friday & Saturday mornings and on Sundays on holiday weekends, star ng May 1, 2015. Stop by to sign your form and join for the season. There is no cost for the club unless a Hole in One Club member scores a hole in one. The Ace maker will receive $5 from every person in the Hole in One Club at the me. This offers you a nice way to help pay for the bill if you get lucky. Bag Storage and Locker Rental The club offers golf bag storage and locker rentals for both men and women. If anyone would like to take advantage of these handy services, just contact Dan or Andi and we can get you signed up. The MGA Monday Night Men s League is scheduled to begin May 4 th. It s me to line up a partner and get signed up. Call or stop by the Pro Shop to sign up your team and be sure to designate whether you want the Up or Down division. 2
Ladies Golf Associa on We had our Kick Off Breakfast on Thursday, April 9 th. We signed up around 35 members. Anyone who hasn t signed up yet can do so by paying at the Pro Shop or paying Karen Kennedy. The cost is $15.00. If you wish to play with the 18 hole league you need to call and tell Andie what me you would like to play and she will put you with two other ladies. We are hoping to have everyone playing with different people each week. We are going to have threesomes if possible to speed up play. The nine holers will have an 8:30 shotgun start each week. Be sure to call and sign up at least by Wednesday. Once again we are having a Ladies Social Evening on Friday, May 8 th at 5 p.m. We will have appe zers and a pu ng contest to follow. MGA Matchplay Tournament June 1 st is the start of play for this year s MGA Matchplay event. This event is open to all Lake Valley MGA Members. The cost is $10 per player. Seedings for the matches will be selected at random and players will have two weeks to complete each match. Both White and Gold Tees will be used for the matches. Sign up in the Pro Shop if you would like to par cipate. Hello and Good Day! First I would like to thank all the employees at Lake Valley. We had a very busy March and April. As we enter May we hope for rain and warmer weather. We will be ver cu ng greens and we will work aggressively on our fairways and tees. Due to very dry and cooler temperatures these areas are slow to come in. I urge everyone to use the cart paths and roughs as much as possible. I would also like to thank the members for their support and welcome our new members. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing everyone golfing at Lake Valley. Thanks Sco Crowell Course Superintendent The 2015 Lake Valley Scholarship Scramble This year s LVCC Scholarship fund raising event is scheduled for Monday, May 25 th. It s me to line up your partners for this fun event that helps fund our annual scholarship that is given to a deserving Camdenton High School student. The format is a four person flighted scramble. Mark the date on your calendar and join the fun! Look for the flyer included in this month s newsle er for more informa on. Sunday Couples League Lake Valley will again have a Sunday Couples League this year. Play will begin in early May and run throughout the summer. Be sure to sign up in the Pro Shop early, so we can get the divisions assigned and match schedule posted. This will again be a 9 hole handicapped couples scramble format with weekly winners and an end of the season payoff for the high point ge ers. Member Reminder Once again this year, walking will not be allowed on Friday and Saturday mornings during the prime me golf season. However, You may walk a er 1 pm on those days. Enid Westhoff s recipe Page 69 of the Lake Valley Cook Book. Brownie Triffle 1 Brownie Mix (9x13) 1 small box chocolate pudding mix 1 can sweetened condensed milk ½ cup water 2 (8 oz.) tubs cool whip, thawed 2 heath candy bars chopped Prepare brownies according to direc ons. Cool and cut into bite size pieces. Mix pudding mix with sweetened condensed milk and water, fold in one tub of cool whip. In clear triffle dish layer first the brownies, then the chocolate mousse mixture, and then the cool whip, alterna ng so you end with cool whip on top. Sprinkle chopped candy on top and refrigerate. Meet Nicholas Jones Nicholas Jones is our chef in the kitchen. Nick was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He has lived at the Lake off and on for 20 years. Nick spent the last 3 years working under an award winning chef at The Lodge of Four Seasons and Old Kinderhook, concentrating on healthy foods. Nick is currently training for the MR340 Kayak endurance race on the Missouri River from Kansas City to St. Louis with an 88 hour time limit. It is 340 miles on the water. Nick is looking forward to working here at Lake Valley and meeting all of the members. 6
Swimming Pool The pool will open its gates for the season on Memorial Weekend and remain open thru Labor Day. We would like to remind everyone to be sure and sign-in each time you use the pool facilities, regardless of the time of day. Karen Osborn will again be the Pool Manager and in charge of lifeguards. Anyone interested in lifegaurding this summer should contact Karen. Hole in One Congratula ons go to two Lake Valley members this month Congrats to Ken Hule and Deanna Starnes for making their very first hole in ones. Ken struck first with his ace on April 4 th during the Su on Spring Open event while playing Hole #15. He used a #7 iron from the White tees and I understand he suffered a pre y good bar tab as a result. Deanna registered her perfect shot on April 12 th while playing hole #2 during the Bloody Mary Sunday golf ou ng. She used a #6 iron from the Red tees for her ace. Your Social Commi ee puts me into these events and the par cipa on of the membership has been overwhelming! A special thank you to Donna Woebling and Be y Beal for organizing the Silent Auc on and for Ronnie Burnau with his dishwashing skills!!! With your par cipa on we raised $4,492.00 from the golf tournament and $3,361.00 for the Silent Auc on. This is on top of the outstanding amount of $1,400 raised from the Pancake Breakfast GO LAKE VALLEY!!
