He has won more than 500 games as a head coach with an overall winning percentage of.625 (566-340). The 2013 ASU squad improved by 12 wins and advanced to postseason play for the first time in three years. He was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2013-14 season. While at ASU Musselman coached 2013 second-round NBA selection Carrick Felix, 2012-13 Pac-12 co-freshman of the Year Jahii Carson and Jordan Bachynski who led the nation in blocks in 2013-14. In his season at LSU he coached two first-team All-SEC selections in Jarrell Martin and Jordan Mickey. Mickey was also selected to the SEC All- Defensive team. Musselman returns to Reno where he spent the 2010-11 season coaching the NBA D-Leagues Bighorns and led them to the only Western Conference title in franchise history. His father, Bill was also an NBA head coach and they were the first father-son combination to become coaches in the NBA. Bill coached the Reno Bighorns of the CBA in 1978-79. His first head coaching job came at the age of 23, when he was hired by the Rapid City Thrillers of the Continental Basketball Association in 1989. He was the youngest coach in CBA history and the fastest to win 100 games. Musselman served as a head coach in the CBA, the United States Basketball League (USBL) and the NBADL along with the two NBA head coaching stops. His teams collected six division titles and advance to postseason all seven hears. He coached 24 players that went on to play in the NBA. Five times he was named CBA all-star coach. He led the USBL Florida Sharks to a 53-3 record in two seasons and a league championship which earned him USBL Coach of the Year honors. After working as an assistant under Doc Rivers and Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly, he was named the head coach of the Golden State Warriors in 2002. He led the Warriors to 38 wins, a team-high in more than 10 years, and was runner-up in the NBA Coach of Year voting. He also coached the Warriors during 2003-04 season. Following a year as an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies under Mike Fratello, he coached the Sacramento Kings for the 2006-07 season. Musselman worked as an analyst on radio and television prior to coaching the Bighorns (2010-11) and LA D-Fenders (2011-12) of the NBADL. In 2012 he earned Coach of the Year honors. Musselman has experience coaching international basketball having served as the head coach MORE ABOUT HEAD COACH ERIC MUSSELMAN I m really excited about the hiring of Muss. I think he will do a great job and get this program back into the spotlight. For the short time that Muss and I were together with the Reno Bighorns I enjoyed it, and Muss is a great basketball mind. I am really excited to see him work with the guys and get the ball rolling. - Nick Fazekas, Nevada s all-time leading scorer Eric is one of the best in our sport. Extremely driven and knowledgeable. I ve watched and coached against him in the NBA and FIBA games. He has an uncanny feel for the game, and ability to read where the game is at. More importantly, is his ability to motivate and teach his players what it takes to improve and win. He is as good as it gets. - John Calipari, Head coach, University of Kentucky He taught me how to play. He taught me how to be a professional. I feel like I ve always had the ability to do certain things, but he gave me a different mindset that I never had as a professional. I give him thanks for me being in the situation I m in now. Instead of doing what a lot of coaches did, he just tried to get to know me. He just believed in me. He kind of just let me play, but he taught me. He never let me be comfortable... he always pushed me to get better. There was never a day when he didn t point out something I could do better. - Gerald Green, Guard/Forward, Phoenix Suns He s as competitive of a guy as I ve ever coached against. He s hungry. He s a brilliant offensive mind and he s going to be a terrific recruiter because of his competitive nature and what he has to sell. This is a guy who can tell kids exactly what it takes to play in the NBA. - Jeff Van Gundy, Former NBA head coach and current NBA analyst on ESPN HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE 1989-95: Rapid City Thrillers (CBA) 1995-96: Florida Sharks (USBL) 1996-97: Florida/W. Sophomore Eric Cooper, Jr. is less than a point from averaging double figures with 9.4 per outing. If you add in Cooper the five score 82.4 percent of the teams points, 2101-of-2547 for an average of 61.8 points of the team s 74.9 per game. IMPROVED OFFENSIVE NUMBERS FROM LAST SEASON Nevada s offense is scoring just over 14 more points per game this season than last year. The Pack is averaging 74.9 points compared to 60.5 last season. The Wolf Pack is shooting 41.9 percent from the field and last year shot 38.1. From behind the arc the 2015-16 squad is shooting 29.5 percent and last year the team ended the year shooting 26.6 percent. Nevada is also improved at the free throw line making 73.6 percent of its opportunities and last year shot 69.6 percent. DEFENSE CLAMPS DOWN The Wolf Pack has bought into coach Musselman s aggressive manto-man defense as Nevada ranks second in the MW and 21st in NCAA I in field goal percentage defense (39.6%). Ten of the last 16 opponents have shot less than 38.2 percent. In Reno SDSU and FS were held under 30 percent. Nevada also ranks third in the conference with 7.1 steals per game and leads the league with 5.7 blocks per game. Freshman Lindsey Drew ranks fourth in the MW with 1.5 steals per game and senior Marqueze Coleman is eighth at 1.3 per outing. SECOND HALF SUPERLATIVES Before the season, head coach Eric Musselman placed an emphasis on being the most conditioned team on the floor, especially at the end of a game. The Wolf Pack has responded by outscoring its opponent, 1436-1318 after halftime. Nevada is out-scoring opponents by 3.5 points per game after the break which is key in a 10-4 record in games decided by less than five points and 3-1 overtime mark. The Pack has won the second half in 22 of its 34 contests. Marqueze Coleman has been one player that has been making a living in the second half this season. The senior has scored 66 percent of his points (304-of-460) after halftime. Junior guard D.J. Fenner is scoring 56.5 (253-of-447) percent of his points after halftime. ROAD TRIP BLUES The Nevada basketball team has suffered through some unforeseen travel problems this season that started with a trip to Pacific on Nov. 21. The Wolf Pack won 85-82 in double overtime but the bus trip home was much longer than the game A blown tire with the team within 60 miles of Reno changed the plans. Taxi s and fans helped transport members of the staff and team to Reno but some members of the staff arrived at 4 a.m. on a second bus that was sent by the charter company. High winds canceled the Pack s flight to Salt Lake City and short bus ride to Logan, Utah for the game at Utah State. With no options and

lack of a large bus in the area, the Boys and Girls Club shuttle bus came to the rescue transporting the team and parts of the staff on the 10 hour ride to Logan. Two cars were also used to transport other members of the staff. The team arrived at 1 a.m. and practiced at 11 a.m. The Pack defeated the Aggies for just the fourth time in 22 meetings in Logan 89-84. Coach Musselman decided to bus back on a larger charter bus that was welcomed by a winter storm upon its arrival in Reno. The most recent long trip was following the 61-55 victory at San José State. The team jumped aboard the charter bus heading for Reno only to once again get close before being stopped on I-80 by a winter storm in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just 70 miles from home. After several hours of sitting and sleeping on the side of the road, the interstate reopened. Chain restrictions slowed the travel pace and the team arrived at Lawlor Events Center at 7:30 a.m. The bright spot in the long trips is the Pack 3-0. NEVADA GOES OVER THE CENTURY MARK Nevada s 119 point output in the win over Fresno Pacific is the second highest total in the Mountain West this season and the second 100-point game for the Wolf Pack this season. The last time Nevada had two 100-point games or more in the same season was 2009-10. Nevada s 119 points in the victory is the most for the Wolf Pack since scoring 120 in a win over Loyola Marymount on Nov. 29, 1991 at Lawlor Events Center. The Wolf Pack s 73 second half points, a new program record, in the win over the Sunbirds was its most since scoring 71 in the second half against Northwestern State on Dec. 19, 1991. Nevada s first 100-point performance of the season, a 108-57 victory over Holy Names, saw the largest scoring margin in a Wolf Pack win since it topped Sonoma State, 95-39, on Dec. 9, 2008. PACK IN BLACK...AND TURQUOISE...AND BLUE...AND SILVER...AND WHITE In order to make his program more unique nationally, head coach Eric Musselman and his team decided to add black uniforms to go along with the Wolf Pack s N7 turquoise, and its traditional blue, silver and white uniforms. The black jerseys were unveiled for the MW-MVC Challenge game against Drake on Dec. 12 BREAKDOWN OF NEVADA S RECORD BY UNIFORM White: 6-2 - W-CCU, L-@UH, W-FPU, W- SCU, L-BSU, W-FS, W-USU, W-Montana Blue: 5-6 - W-@UOP, L-@CSUF, L-@OSU, L-@WSU, L-@UNM, W-@AFA, W-UNLV, W-@USU, W-@SJSU, L-@UNLV Turquoise: 2-0 - W-MSU, W-HNU Silver: 4-2 - W-PSU, W-WYO, L-SDSU, W-AF, L-UNM, W-EWU Black: 4-3 - W-DU, L-@FS, W-@WYO, L-@CSU, W-CSU, W-vs. UNM, L-vs. SDSU NEVADA HONORS THE PAST WITH PREGAME ROUTINE The University of Nevada men s basketball team honored Bill Musselman and Flip Saunders prior to the Portland State game by performing the pregame routine that the University of Minnesota used in the early 1970s. The Gophers were coached by Bill Musselman, the late father of the Wolf Pack s first-year head coach. One of the members of those Gophers teams was Saunders, the long time NBA head coach, who recently lost his battle with cancer. After Bill s passing in 2000, Eric found the detailed diagram of his father s pregame routine and will now use it at Nevada home games in his first season as the Pack s head coach. STIVRINS GOES DOWNTOWN Senior Lucas Stivrins made the most of his extended playing time in the Holy Names victory scoring a game-high 21 points, all coming in the final 9:19 of the game. Stivrins made 6-of-7, three-pointers. He made his final four 3-point attempts and scored the Pack s final nine points and 21 of the final 25 Nevada points. A hand injury has sidelined the senior and a return time has not been set. It is the first double figure scoring game of his career with his previous high being nine twice. The six made 3-pointers is tied for the high by a player in the Mountain West this season. RECORD CROWD WATCHES PACK TOP UNLV The Wolf Pack beat in-state foe UNLV for the fourth time over the last six meetings and it did it in front of a record-setting crowd. The 11,341 fans that packed into Lawlor Events Center was the fifth-largest crowd in the history of the building and the most since 11,462 fans packed into the arena on March 3, 2007 against New Mexico State. NEVADA HOSTED SDSU FOR 500TH GAME AT LAWLOR Tuesday s game against San Diego State was the 500th men s basketball game played at Lawlor Center. Nevada, which played its first season at Lawlor in 1983-84, is 362-139 (.722 winning percentage) all-time in games at the facility that seats 11,536. WILLIAMS JOINS TEAM Mt. San Jacinto transfer and Reno native, Sam Williams began practicing with the Wolf Pack on Dec. 28. Williams, the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Player of the Year, averaged 25.7 points and 6.9 rebounds in helping the Eagles to a 23-8 record. MSJC won the conference title for the second consecutive season. As a prep athlete he played at Reno s Hug High School. He will be eligible to play for the Pack at the start of next season. CARLSON ADDED TO ROSTER Coach Musselman has added walk-on John Carlson to the roster. The 6-6, 225-pound Reno native, played at Damonte Ranch High School and attend San Diego Christian before transferring to Nevada. Carlson will not be eligible to play until second semester next season and will be a sophomore. THREE TRANSFERS SITTING OUT Marcus Marshall, Leland King and Jordan Caroline are transfers that will sit out the 2015-16 season under NCAA transfer rules and be eligible for the 2016-17 season. Marshall, an All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree, averaged 19.5 points at Missouri State his junior year and will have one season to play at Nevada King averaged 14.6 points and 7.8 rebounds his sophomore year at Brown and will have two seasons to play for the Pack Caroline an All-Missouri Valley Conference freshman team selection averaged 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds at Southern Illinois and has three seasons to play at Nevada starting next year 2016 RECRUITING CLASS Coach Musselman s 2016 recruiting class at Nevada is one of the best in the history of the Wolf Pack basketball program The class features one four-star recruit and two three-start prospects according to Scout.com Josh Hall - Forward - 6-7, 195 - Detroit, Mich. - Genesis Academy A four-star recruit according to Rivals.com and a three-star prospect according to ESPN Averaged 15.8 points and 10.9 rebounds as a junior at Genesis Academy.
