Rogers (USA) Course Language: ENGLISH *This seminar is organized by the World Archery Excellence Centre and is supported by the International Paralympic Committee, the AGITOS foundation and World Archery.* Objective The overall objective of this seminar is to increase the knowledge of Para Archery coaching at multiple tiers. The seminar will create an opportunity for existing coaches to improve their understanding of working with impaired athletes by learning from world-class experts. The seminar entails a detailed three-day adaptive learning seminar and workshop and will educate on up-to-date training methods; physical, technical and mental skills; adaptive equipment tuning; offer hands-on experience with a para athlete; give advice on Para Archery Adaptive Coaches Seminar 21-23 September 2018 1
wellness and health issues, as well as covering a variety of psychological aspects. We hope to encourage all attendees to pass on this knowledge in their home countries. Desired Impacts and Outcomes To educate archery coaches to an advanced understanding of Para Archery coaching methods increasing the number and level of individuals able to coach impaired athletes. 1. Greater number of Para Archery coaches 2. Higher ability of Para Archery coaches 3. Increased number of individuals able to advise & teach state-of-the-art impaired athlete coaching methods 4. Increased awareness of impaired athlete pathways to international competition Our desired outcomes include: 1. Increase in knowledge and experience for coaches in practical and adaptive training of para athletes specific to archery 2. Improvement of Member Association s archery development programs and improved communication with local NPCs 3. An increase in coaches will directly cause an increase in athletes 4. The course will be delivered by high level and world-class experts. M.J. Rogers (USA) was the Assistant Coach for Team USA in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and London 2012 Olympic Games. He coaches a Canadian archer in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. M.J. Rogers has headed up the writing of the Adaptive Archery Educational Manual in the USA and is also the current coach of notable Para Archers, Matt Stutzman (USA) and Eric Bennett (USA). Funded Countries With the support of the IPC and AGITOS Grant Support Program, the PAACS will be able to fully fund 15 participants from the following countries: - Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, and Ukraine. Feedback and Evaluation: 1. Submission of a curriculum vitae (CV) and the participant s expectation for this course (Prior) (Mandatory) 2. Find out each participant s goals and the future they see for themselves in 12 months time (During) (Mandatory) 3. Final evaluation form to be completed at the end of the course (During) (Mandatory) 4. Follow-up will be done at 6- and 12-month intervals after the course (After) (Mandatory) a. Participant will be required to provide article content on practical application of knowledge within 12 months of course completion (Mandatory) Non-Funded Countries The PAACS will be opened to any country globally to attend, however all expenses will be incurred at the participant s expense. The maximum number of registrations, including 15 funded countries, is set to a maximum of 30 persons. *There will be a registration fee of 100 CHF which will cover all lunches, coffee breaks and snacks during the course.
