Isaiah Hunter and Alex Loughton each scored 14 points. Arnaud Dahi added 13 and Kiah Thomas scored 12. Although ODU shot.373 from the floor, the Monarchs forced the Tribe into 23 turnovers while ODU had a season low of seven, and season high of 14 steals. W&M shot.458 from the floor. On Dec. 1, ODU defeats VMI, 86-38. This is the ninth largest margin of victory in school history. Arnaud Dahi scored 18 points with 11 rebounds, while Alex Loughton added 17 points with ten boards. John Morris scored 12, Kiath Thomas 13 and Brian Henderson 11. ODU shot.547 from the floor and forced the Keydets into 26 turnovers. VMI scored only 15 points in the second half. The 48-point margin of victory was the tenth highest in ODU history. NOTE: Arnaud Dahi has scored in double figures in each of his last four games. THREE POINT FIELD GOALS Isaiah Hunter made six of eight treys at Hofstra last year. He joins Keith Jackson ('92), Anthony Carver ('90), Petey Sessoms ('95), Mike Jones ('95) and Mark Poag ('99) who have made six treys in a game. The ODU record is nine set by Mark Poag vs VMI in 1997 and Anthony Carver vs. George Mason in 1989. The CAA individual single game mark is also nine. MONARCH RECRUITING Jonathan Adams, a 6-6, 215-pound forward from Baylor High School in Chattanooga, Tenn. signed a letter of intent for the 2005-06 season. Adams averaged 19.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game as a junior. He earned first team All-Region and first team All-State honors last year and helped lead Baylor to the state tournament quarterfinals. Adams was a finalist for his state's "Mr Basketball" honor last year. Adams finished second in the Tennessee state championships As a sophomore in the high jump, clearing 6-8. His mother, Priscilla is N.C.State's tenth all-time rebounder with 644 for a 5.4 career average. DID YOU KNOW? ESPN Sportscenter anchor Jay Harris is a 1987 ODU graduate. Bob Pritchett ('68) who scored 67 points in a game against RPI and 47 in a game against Hampden-Sydney in 1968 currently lives in Grove City, Ohio (outside Columbus). He is Deputy Supervisor for a juvenile correction facility there. In 1994-95, ODU played four top-25 teams. The Monarchs defeated #9 Villanova, 89-81 in triple overtime in the NCAA first round. During the regular season, ODU played at #14 Virginia, and #14 Arizona State and hosted #1 North Carolina. Assistant coach Jim Corrigan is in his 18th year as an assistant on the collegiate level, all in the CAA. Assistant coach Rob Wilkes is the son of legendary Stetson head Coach Glenn Wilkes. Assistant coach Travis DeCuire played for Taylor at Montana from 1991-94 and earned All-Big Sky honors in 1993 and 1994. Of the eight Monarchs who have played in the NBA, two were first round draft picks. Chris Gatling (16th overall in 1991 by Golden State) and Cal Bowdler (17th overall in 1999 by Atlanta). Gatling played in the 1997 NBA all-star game, both are currently playing overseas (Gatling in Russia & Bowdler in Italy). The nickname of the state of Virginia is the "Old Dominion." ODU POINTS OF PRIDE Old Dominion athletic teams have won 32 team and individual national championships, as sailing captured their 15th title in November with the ICSA singlehanded event. Since 1976, ODU has 100 first team All-Americans and 70 First team Academic All-Americans. 21 alumni have competed as Olympians. Baseball pitcher Justin Verlander was the second overall selection in last June's draft by Detroit. Sue Stahl is the US Women's Lacrosse National Coach. Former ODU cheerleader, Mary Maniscalco-Theberge('78) is the first female to hold the position of Chief of Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Athletic Director Dr. Jim Jarrett was named Southeast Athletic Director of the Year (1AA/1AAA) by NACDA in 2003, & earned a Lifetime Achievement award by the Virginia Sports Information Dir. Assoc. in 2004. Ten Monarch coaches and athletes have been enshrined in the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
