HorsePlay At Camborne Show Saturday, 20 July 2013 HorsePlay are delighted and proud to sponsor our own dedicated Display Ring at Camborne Show for a second year. This year we have brought back some favorites from previous years, Parelli Natural Horsemanship and our own HorsePlay display, 'St Trinian's Come to Town!', and given a new twist to our Scurry event by combining it with a Team Games Challenge that was very popular with the Pony Club Mounted Games teams in 2010. We are also pleased to introduce some new events for your enjoyment: Three displays from a group called Sombras Infinitas - Endless Shadows. This is a group of local riders with Iberian horses who put on displays at shows with their own special mix of skills and talents. You will have three chances to see them as they will perform a Celtic number, a Spanish number and the story of Rapunzel. The Pony Club Horse and Hound Competition. This event is a qualifier for the Equine Fair held in Exeter in early December. It involves teams of four Pony Club riders with ponies and four Pony Club children with dogs, competing over a show jumping course. The children are all under 12 years old, so they will need lots of cheering to encourage them as they race against the clock. Parelli Natural Horsemanship We are delighted to welcome back Alison Jones, David Zund and members of the South West Parelli Instructors Team. Alison has recently been awarded the converted 4* Senior Instructor status, only one of two in the UK, so we are very proud that she will be with us with her lovely horses. This year they will be showing off their skills and explaining the Parelli training method over three separate sessions in the ring. This is a truly inspirational demonstration and not to be missed example of what can be achieved when a horse and rider have a high level of communication and understanding. It is very rare for us to have two such highly qualified Parelli instructors in Cornwall so make the most of it. Pony Club Horse and Hound Competition Qualifier This year we are pleased to be hosting the Pony Club Horse and Hound Competition Qualifier at Camborne Show. Teams of four riders and four children with their dogs compete over a 2ft show jumping course against the clock for a place in the final at the Christmas Equine Fair in Exeter in December. Teams will be drawn from Area 16 of the Pony Club, which includes teams from Devon and Cornwall. All the children are under 12 years old and will be competing with their own ponies and dogs. They are judged on style as well as faults and speed so it is a nail biting competition with lots to play for. Training of pony and rider and dog and handler is well underway. HorsePlay Display Team - 'St Trinian's Come to Town!' Following the success of our Olympic themed display at last year's Camborne Show and our equine panto, 'Strictly Festive Fun' at Christmas, the HorsePlay team are proud to present this year's offering, 'St Trinian's Come to Town!' St Trinian's First Formers will be represented by the Junior HorsePlayers and the HorsePlay Mini team, while our teenagers will be Sixth Formers competing in a Chase Me Charlie style competition for the honour of St Trinian's. Members of staff are played by clients with their own horses, led by the affable Miss Fritton, played by Tamsin Irons. All good fun for everyone involved, and a chance to demonstrate our many skills and talents along the way. Costumes are in the final stages of being prepared, but below is a couple of photos from last year's Camborne Show and the Strictly Festive Fun panto, where, Dell Boy and Rodney (from the hit TV series Only Fools and Horses) danced in our version of the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing'. You may see some more of those fantastic umbrella skills performed by Morecambe and Wise in the Singing in the Rain sketch, employed by Miss Fritton, St Trinian's canny Headmistress, to side-step one or two of her unruly pupils tricks.
