MEDIA RELEASE 4 August 2014 Top Live Music Acts announced for Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta Dust off your Abba satin jumpsuits, tune up your sea shanty harmonies and Calypso down to the Regatta Entertainment Centre at Events Square - the headline acts for the Tall Ships Regatta in Falmouth, 28 th to 31 st August have been announced. What s more all the performances are free! On Thursday 28 th August, the opening musical highlight of the Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta will see Fisherman s Friends performing on the main stage at Events Square round 8.00pm. Sponsored by St Austell Brewery s Tribute Ale, the renowned Cornish shanty group from Port Isaac will be delighting festival goers with their powerful brand of Cornish Harmony singing, as they return to Falmouth for their second much awaited performance this year. Abba Revival, without a doubt the best Abba tribute band to emerge from the UK, take to the stage on Friday 29 th August at 9.15pm. The legend of Abba lives on with an incredible legacy of timeless tunes, marking their undeniable place in music history. Be transported back to 70 s heyday with the classic songs and dance floor beats familiar with generation to generation.
Saturday 30 th August sees the vibrant 8 piece, Booze Brothers band take the limelight at 9.30pm followed by the Montego Bay Majestics - for a soul, rhythm and blues extravaganza, a spiced up blend of reggae and calypso with crowd favourites from Bob Marley and UB40 - a night not to be missed! To bring the Regatta to a fitting end, after the ships have wowed tens of thousands of spectators, watching the spectacular Parade of Sail as the ships make their way to the Race start line, the sound of Motown will rock the stage on Sunday 31 st August. Falmouth Festivals, in association with Southwest Bars & Events are proud to be given the opportunity to provide a full programme of entertainment and catering facilities on three main sites for the Tall Ships Regatta said Mike Rangecroft, who with Tim Vigus are gearing up for the event. He added We re looking forward to showing what the Port of Falmouth, no stranger to putting on a first class show, can do for visitors and locals alike. The best of local talent will also be showcased at the SourceFM acoustic stage at Church Street Car Park Regatta Centre. Live music will be on offer from 11.00am to 9.00pm from 28 th to 30 th August and 11.00am to 4.00pm on 31 st August. An ideal venue to while away the days listening to outstanding bands from across Cornwall while taking in the sights of the Tall Ships berthed in the Docks, Port Pendennis Marina and Falmouth Haven, majestically overseeing the packed programme of entertainment ashore.
