USA Weightlifting is the National Governing Body (NGB) for Weightlifting in the United States, a fully recognized member of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). USA Weightlifting has responsibility for all sanctioned weightlifting events, athletes and activity in the United States inclusive of providing athletes to the Olympic Games, Pan-American Games, Youth Olympic Games, World University Games and World Weightlifting Championships. USA Weightlifting is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO. The United States hosted the World Weightlifting Championships in 1987, World University Weightlifting Championships in 2006 and will be hosting the 2015 World Championships in Houston, Texas. Weightlifting is one of the most accessible sports in the United States, with low equipment and training costs. Weightlifting is open to people of all ages, abilities and gender. The following application is for the purpose of obtaining information about possible sites for USA Weightlifting National Events. The information received in this packet will be used to evaluate whether a location is suitable for hosting a USA Weightlifting National Event. *USA Weightlifting reserves the right to deny bids that don t meet the stated requirements, in every respect, and on the basis of the overall attractiveness of the bid. USA Weightlifting is focused on acquiring strong city, sport, weightlifting and hotel partners which will work with USA Weightlifting to both deliver an outstanding event for the membership and supporters of this Olympic sport, but also to ensure that the city gets excellent value in the areas of sports growth, participation and economic impact. Our key expectations; - A partner seeking to build a partnership and assist in growing the sport of Weightlifting in the area, particularly within youth groups and school districts. - Room Rate between $89 and $119 (average), lower rates preferred. - 6 Complimentary rooms (min.) for Medical Staff, Competition Secretary Etc. - Minimum of 20,000sq ft. of flat space (or tiered spaced theatre with close by warm up and training areas of flat space). - Catering for approximately 30 referees and officials. - Upfront declaration of additional fees such as AV, Internet Connection and any ancillary costs that will be the responsibility of USA Weightlifting. - Inclusive wired internet connection for webcasting (minimum 1.5mbps). - Hotel Rooms sufficient for approx. 300-400 people (450-500 for Youth), Thursday through Sunday (Peak Nights, Fri & Sat, Strong Thu/Sun Shoulder nights). - Space in both hotel and venue for scale (Check & Official Scales). - Available Sauna facility (Except for Youth National Championships). - Weigh In room in venue (preferably two). - Wi-Fi availability in venue for Spectators & Athletes. - Airport Transportation solution, and where venue is over 5 minutes walk, venue transportation solution. - Event Operations Room (Competition Secretary Office). - US Anti-Doping Agency room with easy access to secluded Rest Rooms, Male & Female. - Meeting rooms suitable for 100 for technical meetings. - Declaration of any union labor costs of the venue and/or hotel facilities. We are seeking to build a partnership, and are open to the presentation of fresh ideas and concepts, particularly where they assist in the growth of Weightlifting in a given community. The Bid Submission has been designed as a tool for USA Weightlifting to determine your capability to host and assist with USA Weightlifting National Events. The following Bid Submission questions are mandatory and must be answered, with as much detail as possible, as part of the Bid Submission process. Bids that are incomplete will be returned. Should you have any questions, please contact the USA Weightlifting events department listed below. USA Weightlifting requires the following attachments; (1) The Venue: A CAD drawing (Zip file preferred) and other specifications as requested (Specifically, the Platform Area, Warm-Up Area and Spectator Area). (2) Meeting Space: A detailed floor plan with dimensions of the meeting room facilities in the venue. (3) All Accommodation Bid Forms: Specific proposals from all hotels and/or accommodation partners in the proposed hotel/accommodation blocks. Hotel proposals MUST specify rate. (4) Any supporting documents from partner organizations such as Local Weightlifting Team or Committee, Mayor s Office, University (for National University Championships), Sports Commission. You are welcome to attach any attachments that will enhance your bid. USA Weightlifting is seeking bids for the following Championships by the following target dates; The National Junior Championship 2015 January 6, 2014 The National Youth Championships 2015 March 1, 2014 The National Championships 2015 May 1, 2014 The National University Championships 2015 May 1, 2014 The American Open 2015 October 1, 2014 Our process is as follows; - Bids are submitted to the Director of Events & Programs. - Director of Events & Programs submits to USA Weightlifting competition committee for comments and feedback, having identified the bids of interest to the organization. - A recommended site, along with two reserve choices is submitted to the Board of Directors for approval together with comments from the Director of Events and Competition Committee. - Feedback is given on both sets of comments to unsuccessful locations. - Detailed contract negotiations are taken with the chosen location, Where those negotiations are unsatisfactory the negotiation moves to the reserve choice. - USA Weightlifting, in consultation with USA Weightlifting s competition committee, approach, negotiate with and appoint a local club & Meet Director to assist in the delivery of the Championship. 5

All materials are to be approved by the USA Weightlifting Marketing & Sponsorship Manager, Carissa Gump. USA Weightlifting retains the exclusive right to control photography, video and audio recordings of USA Weightlifting events and the exclusive right to the publication, licensing, reproduction and distribution of such recordings. USA Weightlifting may grant exclusive or non-exclusive licenses to this material at the request of the city upon terms negotiated by the parties and no reasonable request will be refused. USA Weightlifting requires the city to provide an individual to provide local Media & Marketing assisting the USA Weightlifting Marketing & Sponsorship Manager in this area. c. MARKETING USA Weightlifting is responsible for marketing the event on a National basis. The city is responsible (in collaboration with USA Weightlifting, and any local Weightlifting club involvement) for local and regional marketing support. The event website will be via www.usaweightlifting.org and all traffic should be directed to the tournament page at USA Weightlifting s official website. TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATION Regardless of the city/venue selected, participants, coaches, officials and spectators will by arriving from all over the USA and, in some cases, internationally. (iii) What, if any, are the transportation arrangements from the Airport to the Event Hotel and/or Venue? 19

ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION PROPOSED ACCOMMODATIONS Accommodation is an important element of a USA Weightlifting event. It is important that most, if not all of the Accommodation options are within walking distance to the Competition Venue in order that players and participants can easily walk to the event. Hotels must close out all published rates lower than the USA Weightlifting rate over the period of the Championships. Rate range should be between $79 and $139. Please keep in mind you are in a competitive bidding process, so competitive rates are required to be awarded event. USA Weightlifting will pay 0% of Cancellation up to 28 days before the Championship, and 100% beyond 28 days before the Championship. USA Weightlifting will not agree to attrition in any form either as a Penalty Fee, a right of the hotel to raise or renegotiate the rate higher or as a right of the hotel to reduce or eliminate any concessions USA Weightlifting will not agree to increased rates under any condition. Damages are the responsibility of the individual and must be dealt with each individual upon check in. USA Weightlifting does not accept group responsibility. The Hotel is required to have its own insurance for this event. The Hotel is required to have security as a cost-of-doing-business, and USA Weightlifting bears no responsibility for security costs during the event. USA Weightlifting agrees only to standard indemnification and only if this is on a mutual basis. 24
