2 ONE DAY WONDERS Let it Snow For this class the children will be doing a painting of a darling winter snowman scene. They will be using acrylic paint on a 16 x 20 canvas. Throughout this painting we will be working on shading and blending along with background, middle ground and foreground. I will walk them through step by step but each child will put their own personal touch on their project. These paintings turn out beautiful and would be a wonderful holiday gift! These paintings turn out colorful and whimsical and they are so much fun to do. This is a fun Halloween project that will be a beautiful piece of art to hang during the spooky holiday season. This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning, using LEGO WEDO Robots. Using LEGO bricks, students build simple machines like a cooling fan and glowing snail. Students will also create MILO the science rover, adding sensors to help him maneuver and conduct science experiments. They also learn how to program and operate their creations using a laptop computer. Apprentice STEM Club: Coding Games with Scratch! What s more fun than playing an interactive video game? Writing one! Video sensing allows students to design and program their own video games and then test each other s games. In this Scratch program, students work together to create their own games with Scratch! Each class is a new game to create! This class is designed to introduce students to both robot building as well as programming. 5 LEAGUE SPORTS The DeForest Recreation Department will be running NFL Flag football this year with a new expanded 4th-8th travel league! Teams will utilize a mix of rushing and passing plays to power their way through this 5 vs 5 game. All participants will receive an NFL Flag football jersey and flag belt. Coaches are needed! Rookie NFL Flag Football League Games are played at various fields in the DeForest/Windsor area. Grades are based off of 2018/2019 School Year. Fee: $40, includes NFL flag jersey and flag belt. Players must purchase mouth guard. As teams fill, your child will be added to a waiting list. K-1st League: Tuesdays, Games at 5:30pm: Sept 4-October 9 2nd-3rd League: Thursdays, Games at 5:30pm: Sept. 6-Oct. 11 Cost: $40 Travel NFL Flag Football League Games will be played at various locations on Saturday mornings (range between 9am-1pm). NFL Flag Football is a fast-paced Co-ed football geared to teaching young players fundamentals and teamwork. This league is for kids in 4th- 8th grade (upcoming 2018/19 school year).
