On This Day in History 1758 Mustard was advertised for the first time in America. 1764 The city of St. Louis, MO was established. 1879 U.S. President Rutherford Hayes signed a bill allowing female attorneys to argue cases before the Supreme Court. 1903 Russian immigrants Morris and Rose Michtom introduced the first teddy bear to America. 1965 Canada displayed its new red and white maple leaf flag.
Box Tops for Education The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn them in to your PE/Health teacher.
Media Center News The last day to take Rebecca Caudill tests to be eligible to vote in the state contest is Friday, Feb. 16 th! You must pass three tests in order to vote. You can still take tests for prizes and Battle of the Books eligibility until April 6 th!
Ronald McDonald House Charities Grissom is once again collecting pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than $40,000 from this program. A collection box will be in the Commons for your donations!
Intramural Soccer Indoor soccer intramurals are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:30. Permission slips are in the rack outside the Main Office.
Fitness Club Fitness Club will be held this week on Monday after school until 4:06 and on Friday from 7:55-8:25 am.
Grissom Green Team The Grissom Green Team no longer needs plastic bottles! (Thank you for your donations!) We are still collecting bottle caps, paper towel holders and toilet paper holders. Keep up the great work, Grissom!!

Crayola ColorCycle Students and teachers will soon be collecting used markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year! Remember, don t throw out that used marker ColorCycle it!

Student Support Before and after school Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday. You must arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the whole time!
Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we ve saved 6,205 bottles from landfills! Let s beat last year s total!
