Feb. 5 Dave Rothrock, expert fly tier, guide, and PATrout President, will be speaking on "Fly Fishing the Pine Creek Valley", and doing a fly tying demonstration of a few patterns that work well there. Mar. 5 Lance Wilt, currently guiding in this area as well as out of state, will be making a photo presentation on some of the trips he has taken lately (including Chile) and offering tips on the planning that is needed to make them most successful Apr. 2 Jim Downes, cane rod maker, and Jonas Price, owner of The Feathered Hook in Coburn, will be making a joint presentation on the features of bamboo rods, including some details of construction, casting characteristics, care needed, and other related aspects of cane rods BOARD MEMBERS RE-ELECTED Congratulation to Ted Trostle and Bob Donaldson who were re-elected to the SCTU board of directors. CHEF PALMER RESIGNS Master TU Spring Cookout Chef, Bill Palmer, with tears in his eyes and sobbing uncontrollably, regrets that he can no longer organize the spring cookout at Poe Paddy State Park. TU is desperately looking for someone to take his place. The spring cookout is one of the few events where TUers can get away with lying through their teeth about the giant trout they have reduced to hand on Penns Creek and be rewarded for their deception with a steak dinner. This is one of the social highlights of the year for the TU fellowship just ask anyone who attends. Call Bill Palmer at 364-9101 if you would like to volunteer for this important chapter position.

FLYFISHING CAMPS Dan Kerstetter sent information regarding two youth fishing camps this summer at the Millbrook Marsh through the Centre Region Parks & Recreation. The first camp is in June 22-26 (warm water fly fishing partly sponsored by PA Fish & Boat Commission). The second camp is in July 13-17 & 20-24 (youth fly fishing sponsored by Spring Creek TU). Camp registration begins February 2, 2009. Information about both camps can be found at: http://www.crpr.org/programs/sum/camps/s-camps.html E-MAIL LIST As some are aware, the Chapter has the capability to do email notifications of important events, updates, and to provide last minute notifications of changes. Of the 350 Chapter members, only 75 or so members have provided email addresses to receive these updates. We plan to begin the distribution of Tertiary Treatment by email. If you want to be added to the list, just email a request to Bill Brusse at the email address listed on page 3. SCTU BOARD MEETINGS Board meetings are held at the Comfort Suites Hotel, 132 Village Drive, State College at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday following the scheduled Membership Meeting. Chapter members are encouraged to attend the Board meetings. The Board members welcome and would appreciate greater participation from Chapter members. As many of you know, our membership and board meetings are held at the Comfort Suites Hotel. Comfort Suites provides the rooms to us at no charge. We want to thank Karen Mansfield and her staff for their support. VISIT THE SCTU WEB SITE: springcreektu.org The Web Site lists membership and board meeting dates; contains the past 5 months of Tertiary Treatment; and provides links to Spring Creek USGS stream flow conditions, weather, and a number of other good information sources. 3
