Event informa-on Primarily in aid of: A charity on Mallorca to be named shortly Event outline: Charity cycle ride from Calvia to the six extremi3es of Mallorca four compass points (north - Cap Formentor, south - Cap de Salines, west - St Elm and east - Cala Ratjada) and to the highest (Puig Major) and lowest (Magaluf beach) points on tarred roads in three days. Total of over 400 kilometres and 7500 metres of ver-cal climbing (as calculated by Strava). Challenge date 18, 19 and 20 May 2018 Choice of distances: Registered sponsored cyclists (maximum of 50 per start point) may ride the whole course or choose to join at these loca3ons:
Day 1: Day 2: Day 3: Calvia - 147 kms and 3895 metres of climbing Port de Pollensa - 126 kms and 2111 metres of climbing Porto Cristo - 133 kms and 1512 metres of climbing Cyclists may ride as far as they wish and, providing they are pre-registered and have paid their minimum entry fee) will receive a Calvia Six-Points Challenge cycling jersey to recognise their par3cipa3on and thank them for their support. Registra-on dona-on and Fund Raising (in aid of a charity to be named shortly): Each par3cipa3ng rider must register with the organisers by comple3ng the Registra3on Form on the Event Website (at hups://www.sixpointscycling.com ) The Registra3on dona3on should be in the form of sponsorship paid to a bank account to be advised and a minimum pledge of 60 is requested (more would be appreciated - ask your friends and family to sponsor you!) Sponsorship forms are available - please request them by email to hola@sixpointscycling.com. Also, personal sponsorship of the lead rider (Bryan Visser, 68 years old and decrepit!) Event Route and start -mes: To be deemed to have successfully completed the 2018 Calvia Six-Points Cycling Challenge, each rider will prove that they have auended each of the seven waypoints below during the period of the event (18, 19 and 20 May 2018). Riders must either post their Strava Ac3vi3es to the Strava website within 24 hours of comple3ng the event or take photos of their bike in front of the major landmark at each waypoint and send either the Strava ac3vi3es or photos to hola@sixpointscycling.com. Day 3 (20 May 2018) - 132 kms with 1512 metres of climbing: 07:30 - Start at Porto Cristo Santanyi Cap de Salines most southerly point Arenal Palma Peguira beach - at Niza Bar - dip your front wheel into the sea at the lowest point and then to the FINISH at the Ajuntament de Calvia! In the event of an emergency, please call the person and we will a=empt to help you as much as possible. Whilst each rider rides en3rely at his/her own risk, we obviously have safety as our highest priority. Please note the comments below: All riders are to obey the Traffic Regula3ons at all 3mes and to be considerate to other road users. Please use lights whilst riding and, especially, in the tunnels. Please ride in single file when other road traffic is close by. Please also ride in small groups so as to minimise disrup3on to other traffic. Be aware of the descents - some will be very fast. Be very cau3ous in the tunnels - use lights, remove sunglasses and allow your eyes to become accustomed to the darkness before proceeding.
