STRATEGIC PLAN 2015-2019 www.golfqueensland.org.au

FROM THE BOARD This Golf Queensland Strategic Plan builds on the achievement of the previous four year plan and recognises the opportunities as well the challenges presenting to the golf industry and golf clubs. Our sport, often known as the the game for life, embodies the Queensland people s love of sport and the outdoors. Golf is a strong sport with over 2.2 million, and increasing, rounds of golf played in Queensland by club members alone. It also has had struggles in the past four years for a number of reasons, including severe weather events and a societal trend away from organised sport. Therefore, this plan continues the previous emphasis on building industry sustainability through initiatives focusing on growing player participation and strengthening club operations. It is critical clubs are the focus and beneficiaries of these initiatives as they are the primary deliverer of golf participation in Queensland. Also, in tackling the membership challenge, an underlying principle is to help promote new ways for people to become involved in golf, while keeping traditional structures strong. This plan reaffirms the Golf Queensland Board s commitment to the values listed below that were taken up when Golf Queensland established its first Strategic Plan in 2008. As in that inaugural plan, the Board will adopt an enterprising management approach and encourage innovation and best practice in both the planning and delivery of our programs and services. In achieving our aims a priority will be to work with our Member Districts, Clubs, Golf Australia and other golf industry bodies to tackle the issues and make sure that we see golf thrive not only in the next four years but for generations to come.
