Welcome to The Color Run New Orleans which will take place at beautiful Lakefront Arena on UNO Campus! Thank you for joining us on this crazy running adventure. We have made this race guide to provide you with all the information you need to make your experience as FANTASTIC as possible! A couple important steps before we get started: Step One: If you haven t already, go like our Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/thecolorrun Step Two: Read this whole document! You ll be glad you did! Packet Pick Up is where you ll come to get your race STUFF. You ll receive the following: t-shirt, race number, The Color Run tattoo, your Color Runner headband, a wristband, and a bag of powder to throw at the post race party. The Color Run Store will be set up and we ll be selling some pretty cool items (The Color Run hoodies, hats, socks, etc.) **In an effort to reduce waste please bring your own bag to put your gear in.** When and where you can find us for Packet Pick Up: Arts Council of New Orleans Gallery Ground Floor of The Exchange Centre 935 Gravier Street Suite 850 (Corner of Gravier and O Keefe) New Orleans, LA 70112 PACKET PICK UP TIMES DAY 1 Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Art Council Gallery 10AM-8:00PM DAY 2 Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Art Council Gallery 10AM - 5:00PM We STRONGLY encourage you to pick up your pack AT the packet pick up dates and locations. You CAN have someone else pick it up for you.you ll just need to make sure you send them with the signed Pick Up Waiver at the end of this document. If there are no other options, you can pick up your packet on race day, but you will need to be there early and be prepared to wait in line. Race day is CRAZY good crazy of course but we d hate to see you miss the pre-race fun standing in line trying to get your packet!
We are lucky enough to have this years event take place at the eventful Lakefront Arena. Please take a look at the map below to see where the race headquarters is roughly located ***HINT HINT, it is near the START/FINISH bubbles*** PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE FESTIVAL/START CHUTE NO EARLIER THAN 7:00AM ON SATURDAY MORNING!!! This should provide plenty of time for you to mingle, take before pictures, use the portable facilities, and hydrate before the race start window from 9:00AM - 10:00AM. Here is the race day timeline for November 17, 2012: 7:00AM - Race village opens for Color Runners. (You are like a kid on Christmas!) 8:30AM - Color Runners start to line up in the Glorious Start Chute of Destiny 9:00AM - 10:00AM - New Orleans The Color Run Start Window - YAY!! 9:30AM-11:45AM - Finish Festival at the Festival Area - MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR COLOR PACKET FOR THE FINISH FESTIVAL!!! 12:00PM - The Color Run New Orleans complete, magical Unicorn Pegasus returns from the Big Easy to her home in Valhalla and The Color Run Family members return to their (now even more) colorful places of residence - BUT feel free to hang out and help us clean. ;) This is a map of the course for the run at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, LA study it, learn it, love it... delicious. Arrive early. Allow plenty of time to get to the park & get prepped for start time. Make sure you have your race bib and wristband! They are your ticket into the run. You HAVE to have them in order to be on the course.. and we cannot give you another one if you leave them at home! So tape them to your forehead, roll them up in your running shoes, or pin them to your running shirt as soon as you get it! Oh and don t forget to wear white - it s more fun, we promise. *Change of clothes *Change of shoes *Color Packet for the finish line *Garbage bags *Cash & Credit card *Towels (paper/cloth) *Sunscreen *Bandana *Sunglasses *Camera/Cell phone We will do EVERYTHING in our power to hold The Color Run event as scheduled... however excessive wind or rain may cause us to modify or cancel the event. Color Runners will gather at the starting line in waves of approximately 1,000-1,500 people. The announcer will begin calling runners to the start line about 30 minutes before the start time, with waves leaving about 5 minutes apart. The first wave will leave at 9:00AM. Once in your wave, gather according to running speed. Rabbits at the front and turtles at the back. Remember the event is not timed so there is no reason to go CRAZY jockeying for position. Take your time and enjoy The Color Run experience with your friends and family. Please make sure your bib number is attached and visible on the front of your shirt. This is how you will be identified as a Color Runner at the finish line and allowed past security at the start. Teams may run in a group or separately, it is completely up to your discretion. TIME TO CARPOOL & DRIVE GREEN!!! In order to reduce traffic and the number of cars near the race site, please carpool with as many people as possible. LAKEFRONT ARENA 6801 Franklin Avenue New Orleans, LA 70122 Below you will see a rough outline of parking areas that will be available. ***REMEMBER THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE SO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION WHEN ARRIVING AT THE SITE AND FOLLOW POSTED SIGNAGE AND PARKING ATTENDANTS WHO WILL DIRECT YOU TO THE APPROPRIATE SPOT. PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR FLAGS, TENTS, BARRICADE FENCING, SIGNS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY PEDESTRIANS. :) *** The COLORFUL areas on the map below show the areas where participants will be able to park on race day. :) Please reference the site map below for further information where you can look to park on race morning.
You have received this email which means you are registered to run the Happiest 5K on the Planet in New Orleans. HOORAY!!! Parking at Lakefront Arena (see the map above) is easy if you follow the directions (if traveling by car) in the Race Day Traveling Directions/Transportation section. Once you arrive at the venue, there will be a parking control company helping us/you to maximize the space we have to park all of our FANTAST-A-RIFFIC Color Runners! Again, PLEASE be courteous and patient as people get parked and find their way to the race site. We aren t going to leave anyone behind, every Color Runner is important to us! (This is even more incentive to drive GREEN and carpool as much as possible!!) ***ALSO please notice that we have to shut down some of the roads to actually run on those roads to race. :) We CANNOT start the race until those roads are closed so if you are trying to utilize those areas for parking anytime after 8:45AM you might be directed elsewhere. We WANT EVERY ONE OF OUR COLOR RUNNERS TO RACE AND WE WON T LEAVE YOU BEHIND SO DON T PANIC AND RELAX ON RACE MORNING. WE WON T FORGET YOU!!*** Here are some things you should know: It is very important that our Color Runners obey all traffic laws and avoid parking where posted signage does not expressly allow. It is also important that Color Runners avoid parking along The Color Run Course. Otherwise, you might have a more colorful car after the race than before!! :) Public transportation will be running the regular weekend routes so taking the bus and/or parking a few miles away is an option. Hey... more exercise, right!?!? IN SUMMARY... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be patient with the parking situation on race morning. :) We have just a few rules to ensure that everyone has a FANTASTIC experience. -No alcohol is allowed at The Color Run. -If you are running with a stroller, please start at the back of the pack. -Be courteous to and aware of other Color Runners. -If you are running with small children, please watch and direct them through the race. -If you are concerned at all with any part of the Color Zone/Festival experience, feel free to wear safety glasses, a bandana, or a dust mask. -Please follow the directions provided by race officials and volunteers. -Above all, please be courteous and respectful to everyone around you. The Color Run New Orleans 2012 official charity is the Arts Council of New Orleans. They are a Non-Profit organization. The Arts Council provides Cultural Planning, Advocacy, Public Art, Economic Development, Arts Education, Marketing, and Grant and Service Initiatives focused on its vision of New Orleans as a flourishing international center for arts and culture. The Color Run is really happy to be teamed up with a wonderful organization like the Arts Council of New Orleans. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT, WAIVER AND RELEASE FROM LIABILITY (AWRL). I acknowledge that a running event is a test of a person s physical and mental limits and it carries with it potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. I HEREBY ASSUME THE RISKS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE COLOR RUN. I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in this event, and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified health professional. I authorize such Medical Provider to perform all procedures deemed medically advisable in attempting to treat or relieve such injuries. I consent to the administration of anesthesia as deemed advisable during the course of treatment. I realize and appreciate that there is a possibility of complications and unforeseen consequences in any medical treatment, and I assume and such risk for and on behalf of myself and said minor.
