Key Speakers- Saturday, November 21, 2015 Steve Indig, BRec, LLB, Sport Law & Strategy Group Handling Conflict of Interest 8:50am-9:50am Keynote Speaker Steve began his career with the Sport Law & Strategy Group in 2003 immediately after being called to the bar as a lawyer. In fewer than ten years, Steve has worked with over 400 national, provincial, and local sport organizations to provide consulting and legal services related to governance, employment, contracts, policies, disputes, and privacy. He is a regular guest speaker and presenter at AGMs, conferences, and workshops, and has also acted as an adjudicator. Steve graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelors of Recreation degree and a successful five-year career as varsity athlete in swimming. Steve attended three CIS National Championships, was named the CIS athlete of the month, and qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials. He continues to be involved in swimming as a master s swimmer (Canadian Masters Swimming medalist) and a coach at the Vaughan Aquatic Club. Steve was inducted into the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. During the early years of his career, Steve also was a certified sports agent representing professional athletes. Steve was certified by the NFL, CFL, MLS, and FIFA as an agent. He continues to be involved in sport as a swimming coach, masters swimmer, softball player and avid basketball player; recently returning from the 2013 Maccabi Games in Israel where his team won a bronze in basketball. Steve is also the proud father of a son and newborn daughter. Susan Houston, Partner Matthews Dinsdale & Clark LLP Staffing Contracts 11:00am-11:55am Dinghy and Keelboat School Stream Drawing on her extensive experience gained from working in both the public and private sectors, Susan provides strategic and timely advice on a full range of employment issues, including privacy matters, contracts of employment, terminations and human rights. She regularly works with employers to ensure they are pay equity compliant to minimize the potentially significant liabilities that can arise. Susan is counsel to employers throughout the province. Susan identifies pragmatic solutions to issues arising in today s workplaces; workplaces that include both provincially and federally regulated employers, operating across a broad spectrum of industries. Susan is well placed to understand the needs of business. In addition to having practiced corporate/commercial law, her unique insight has been enhanced by her academic studies, including M.B.A. studies and a Masters of Law degree in Dispute Resolution, as well as extensive human resources management experience, and the Chairmanship of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Sara Anghel, Executive Director/Vice President of Government Relations, NMMA Canada Statistics Talk: Statistics of Canadian Recreational Boating 2:00pm-2:55pm Club Stream Sara Anghel has a breadth of experience in government, the private sector and associations spanning 15 years. Prior to joining the National Marine Manufacturers Association, she served as vice president of government relations and public affairs with the Ontario Energy Association. Before that position, Anghel was Manager of Government and Regulatory Affairs with Direct Energy, a large energy company, where she was responsible for all government projects and day to day management of technical regulatory interventions and analysis. Anghel spent seven years working within the Ontario government in a number of ministries including energy, natural resources and health, and was Chief of Staff to the Minister of Northern Development & Mines and Environment. In her role with NMMA Canada, Anghel leads industry representation and advocacy efforts in Canada by providing counsel, support and strategic input to a range of policy and advocacy issues. She shapes, steers and implements advocacy strategies primarily focused at the federal level. Anghel serves on Transport Canada s National Recreational Boating Advisory Council and co-chairs the Recreational Boating Advisory Council for Ontario. Anghel has an Honors Degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Toronto. She enjoys boating and traveling with her husband Frank and their young daughter Angelica. NMMA has published an industry leading Canadian Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract. Being of Bajan descent it would only seem a natural fit; her passion for being on the water, wind in her hair with an emphasis on leisure and family. In more recent years she has transitioned into the racing scene, having the opportunity to crew on multiple programs in both course as well as offshore racing. Some highlighted events include racing LYRA (Relentless: Farr40), and the current IRC North American Champion (Rampage: Concordia47) as well as Lake Ontario 300 (Ginja Ninja: Merlin36). She is a key example of how sailing can grow with you your whole life, regardless if you want to be challenged or relax and enjoy the ride.

Morten Fogh, Owner and President Fogh Marine The State of our Sailing & Boating Community 11:00am-11:55am Club Stream Morten raced Optimists, Lasers, Laser 2's and J24's internationally and campaigned in the Tornado. He runs marathons. Besides being the owner of Fogh Marine, he also handles all institutional sales.
