The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto Join us and experience a lifetime of friendship and fun january 2018
A Club you can call home The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto was founded in 1924 by a small group of badminton enthusiasts in a historic former streetcar barn on St. Clair Avenue at Yonge Street. The Club has since grown to become a preeminent Canadian private racquet, fitness, wellness and social club. After a devastating fire destroyed the east-side of the clubhouse in early 2017, an extensive rebuild plan is underway. The Club s west-side - which houses tennis, squash, fitness, platform tennis, social activities, and casual dining will re-open in April, 2018. While we rebuild a portion of the clubhouse, the B&R continues to provide a quiet oasis from the bustle of day-to-day life. Known for its personal touch, dedicated staff, excellent facilities, and first class racquet, fitness, and wellness programing; the Club has created lasting friendships among multi-generational families. 3
Racquet Sports The Heart and Soul of the B&R Friendly competition and personal accomplishment are the name of the game. The B&R continues to be the place for our members to be active and engaged with year-round tennis, squash, platform tennis and table tennis. Our badminton courts, which also house the increasingly popular sport of pickleball, will reopen late 2019, but members can continue to enjoy these activities at other temporary reciprocal locations. Many of our members have their favourite game and thanks to our universal sports fee, all members may participate in any sport without having to join a separate section. The B & R has the best pros in the city! Many new members have commented on the welcome they received upon joining the Club. Our tennis, squash, badminton, and platform tennis pros will help improve your game with individual or group lessons, clinics, round robins, and house leagues that accommodate all levels from beginners to experts. 5
Dining and Social A Place Where Friends Meet Whether meeting for a game on or off the court, a work-out, or simply to enjoy a meal or grab a quick drink, a visit to the Club turns into a memorable experience as you will be sure to run into old and new friends. The Club also offers a full calendar of social activities for members, including: guest speakers; bridge; theatre; wine tastings; walking tours; the Festive Fling (our annual Christmas dinner dance); and much more. Our new clubhouse will also provide casual and fine dining, as well as an elegant setting for private dinners, wedding receptions, retirement parties, celebrations of life, and other important social functions. 7
Fitness A Place To Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle Located on the third floor, with one of the best views of the city, our fitness centre has the most up-to-date equipment, as well as professional certified staff who will assist and motivate you: whether it s part of a personal program, rebounding from an injury, or an extension to racquet play, the B&R is committed to keeping its members active, healthy, and playing their best. Our fitness studios will offer members group exercise, yoga, spinning, and pilates classes as an extension to their regular fitness routines. 9
