THE 2011 LIDO 14 CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA Organized by the Lido 14 Class Association Hosted by Coronado Yacht Club and the Lido Class Association August 17-20, 2011 NOTICE OF RACE 1. RULES a.the regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. b.the Lido-14 Class Association is the Organizing Authority. c.the following Racing Rules of Sailing rules have been changed: i. Racing rules A4 and A5 are changed to limit starting to within 4 minutes of the starting signal. ii. Racing rules 35, A4 and A5 are changed to require finishing within 15 minutes of the first boat to finish. a. No class protests concerning the eligibility of a sloop shall be accepted after the starting signal of the first race unless witnessed proof can be produced that: i.a competitor had altered his boat, ballast or attaching equipment in such a manner as to make it illegal after the acceptance of his Measurement Certificate/Checklist by the measurement committee. ii.a competitor has altered his Measurement Certificate / Checklist. 2. ADVERTISING a.advertising will be restricted to Category A. 3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY a.the regatta is open to all eligible members of the Lido-14 Class Association sailing a properly measured Lido-14 boat. b.eligible boats (Class Association by-laws Article XII and Article XIII) with eligible members (Article IX) having paid 2011 dues to the Class Association, may enter on line through regatta network ( www.regattanetwork.com ) or by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, and mailed to: Lido Class Champs C/o Lido Class Association P.O. Box 1252 Newport Beach Ca 92663 Checks are to be addressed to the Lido 14 Class Association. Entries posted after July 15 will be considered late. No tee shirts will be provided as part of the entry. Limited number of shirts will be available for purchase at the registration table. Forms to be completed with entry are: A completed measurement checklist. For those entering as unattached members or members of fleets without a measurer, your boat will be inspected, including weight, by the Certified Measurement Committee on Wednesday August 17, 2011 A copy of your up to date measurement certificate should be included to avoid loss or damage to the original. Those who have never had their boat measured, or have no valid certificate must make arrangements with the Lido Class Association Chief Measurer, Walter Johnson (hojosails@aol.com) (562-392-0976) Entry is not completed until the skipper and crew have personally checked in during registration on Wednesday August 17, 2011. Weigh-in of the skipper and crew in normal sailing attire will be required at this time.

4. FEES The entry fees for this regatta are: $285 if entered on line prior to June 15, 2011. $300.00 if the application is received on or before July 15, 2011. $325.00 if the application is received after July 15. Tee shirts will not be included for entries received after July 15. Refunds shall be requested in writing and will be subject to a $30.00 service charge up to July 15, 2011 and a service charge of $150.00 thereafter, special circumstances concerning last minute cancellations will be considered on a case by case basis by the lido 14 class association board of directors. a. The entry fee includes the following; i. Entry into the regatta. ii. Regatta committee and rescue boats, race equipment and management fees, to Coronado Yacht Club and the Lido Class Association iii. Dinner for the skipper and crew on Wednesday's welcome BBQ, Thursday night s class meeting and Saturday s awards Taco bash. iv. A regatta T shirt for skipper and crew, if entered before July 15, extra shirts will be available for $20.00 each at the registration table, while supplies last. v. Awards for competitors as prescribed by the Association By-laws. vi. Bow numbers which will be assigned and presented at registration. 5. FLIGHT SELECTION SERIES AND FINAL SERIES SCHEDULE The regatta will consist of a flight selection series and a final series for the Gold and Silver flights. Three flight selection races are scheduled on Thursday and 6 final series races are scheduled for the Gold and Silver flights on Friday (3 races) and Saturday (3 races) Wednesday August 17: Registration and measurement will be held 8:30 AM thru 4:00 PM at the area near the small crane Thursday August 18 8:30 am until 10:00 am. registration continues. 10:30 am: A competitor s meeting will be held at the grass area in front of the junior room. 11:55 am: The warning signal for the first of 3 flight selection races. Friday, August 19: 11:55 am: The warning signal for the first 3 Championship series races. Saturday, August 20: 11:55 am: The warning signal for the first of the remaining Championship series race. Subsequence races will be started as soon as possible after the previous finish. Six races are scheduled with one race required to be completed to constitute a series. No warning signals will be given after 4:30 pm. 6. MEASUREMENTS Measurements required to be completed for each boat competing are as follows: i.skipper and Crew weights in normal sailing attire are to be completed at registration. ii.each boat is to have a valid measurement certificate completed prior to final registration for the event. iii.copies of the valid measurement certificate are acceptable may be mailed with the entry and entry fees. Both sides are to be copied and up-to-date. Syndicate members, if any, must be included on the certificate. Each boat must have a completed measurement checklist to be verified by the chief measurer. Each boat, will have the weights verified and if ballast is required, must be inspected by the chief measurer or his committee. iv.a certified measurement committee, as specified in the association bylaws, will be available for these tasks. Volunteer help is encouraged to move and prepare boats as necessary. v.those requiring sail measurement must make arrangements with the chief measurer prior to the beginning of registration on August 17, 2011 vi.measurement and registration committees will be assembled near the small crane - sails will be measured on the lawn 1.Sails must have class royalty and measurer s stamp 7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions and diagram of courses and course marks will be available at the final registration. 8. VENUE Races will be held on South Bay San Diego - approximate 20 minute sail from the club.

9. COURSES Will be double windward leeward courses with a leeward gate and weather off-set mark. Course lengths will be adjusted to accommodate wind. All finishes will be downwind. 10. SCORING The Low Point Scoring system, Appendix A2 RRS will apply except that each boat s score will be the sum of her scores for all races. 11. SAFETY REGULATIONS Competitors are required to wear, while on the water, other than for a brief period while adding or removing clothing, a US Coast Guard (or Canadian) approved PFD. 12. BERTHING Lodging is available from a variety of places; it is incumbent on the competitor to make whatever arrangements that will best fit his needs. There is a variety of hotels on Coronado island, and there is a variety of RV sites within a 20 minute drive Boats and trailers will have a designated area; cars will need to be parked on the street 13. PRIZES Prizes will be awarded to both skipper and crew in the follow categories: Winner of the Qualifying Series Top 10 winners of the Gold Flight Top 5 winners of the Silver Flight Perpetual trophies will be available as follows: 1. Winner of the Silver flight 2. Winner of the Gold flight. 3. Winner of the 1st Gold Flight race. 4. Winner of the 2nd Gold Flight race. 5. Winner of the 3rd Gold Flight race. 6. Team award from teams selected in the Silver and Gold flights 7. 1st family award for the highest placing family members in a boat. 8. Long-distance award for the longest trail to the competition. 9. Grand Master award for the highest placing skipper over the age of 50. 10. Lady Skipper award for the highest placing female skipper in the event. 11. If you do not have a Fleet Measurer, you may have your checklist completed by any Fleet Measurer, the Chief Measurer or their proxies. Those that cannot locate an eligible measurer shall make an appointment with the Chief Measurer to have their checklist completed at the Championship Regatta.
