All decisions concerning interpretation of the rules are entirely up to the Tournament Officials and are final and not subject for appeal. PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY o All competitors must be 18 years of age or older or be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A guardian who is not registered in the event and accompanying a minor may not fish. Minors must also have the signature of his or her parent or legal guardian on the entry form. PRE REGISTRATION AND CAPTAINS MEETING o Each contestant may pre register and pay prior to the event. Registration will be open through the Captain s Meeting the night before the Event Date. Attendance at the Captain s Meeting is MANDATORY by one person from the team. Uniform measuring devices will be distributed at the Captain s Meeting. Fishing begins at first safe light on the day of the tournament. SAFETY o Follow all U.S. Coast Guard regulations. CHECK IN o Check in will begin at 2:00 pm at the Moose Lodge 1297. One person from each team will be required to submit their camera with cord, card or e mail between the hours of 2:00 P.M. and 4:00P.M. after signing in at check in station. After the teams entry has been submitted there will be no additional entries allowed to be added to it. Other team members will have the option to come directly to the weigh in or may wish to drop their boat off on the way to the event. All team members will be required to be present by the time of the awards ceremony to win. All competitors will be given a time stamped card and will be called to have their fish scored. All competitors must be stamped in by 4:00 pm, to be eligible for prizes and points. At the check in, anglers will be submitting their e mail, camera or cards for review and filling out a score card. SPORTSMANSHIP o All contestants are required to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, and conservation. LEGAL FISHING METHODS o All fish must be caught on hook and line. Live, frozen bait and all artificial lures will be allowed. Only standard conventional, spin, or fly tackle may be used. Intentional snagging is prohibited. Wading will be allowed, as long as you are within a 50 yards of your vessel. Boats, Kayaks and Shore Fishing are allowed. A Team consists of 2 4 persons. Kayak teams will be required to stay within visual sight of all team members of their team. There will only be one measuring device issued per team so you will have to take any fish caught to the team member who has the measuring device to be photographed. No exchanging or sharing of bait and/or fish between boats except kayak team members of the same team. SCORING. o The objective is to photograph at least one (1) Redfish, one (1) Snook and one (1) Trout per team. Fish measurement will be rounded UP to the nearest half inch and fish must be photographed against the official Moose Inshore Slam Tournament measuring stick, with the whole fish clearly visible on the competitor s vessel. Fish must be photographed in or on the boat, on the provided measuring device, with the nose of the fish against a hard surface, clearly showing the length of the fish (tail and nose) with the measuring device clearly visible. More than one photo of a fish may be taken to ensure a usable photo. Length is determined from the forward most point of the fish to the pinched top of the tail. Please make sure to hold the camera directly above fish so that an accurate measurement can be made. If the camera angle is not directly above the fish the judges will have the final determination as to the actual size of the fish. Please keep in mind when pinching the tail that the entire fish must be visible and not obstructed by your hand. Use of a tail pinching device or rubber band is recommended. Since the fish will not be harvested there will be no minimum size and may be of any length. Any fish measuring longer than the measuring device will receive the length of the measuring device as its official score. In the event of a tie, the entry checked in earliest will be declared the winner. The judging committee will review the photos to verify reported results and determine place winners. The Tournament Officials are responsible for the final call in all matters. If you wish to contest any scores or rules violations you will have 15 minutes to do so after the final score card has been weighed in. FISHING BOUNDRIES o All publicly accessible Southwest Florida waters are included beginning at Safe Light.

Heroes on the Water helps our Nation s warriors and veterans from all branches of the United States military unwind using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. What looks like a day trip of paddling and fishing is in fact something much deeper and long-lasting. Founded in 2007, our unique kayak fishing program allows the participants a chance to decompress from the stresses associated with combat and the physical rigors of rehabilitation. Warriors enjoy these benefits while on guided fishing trips held in local communities around the country. Participants receive basic kayak fishing and paddling instruction, angling clinics and paddling classes for participants with skill sets ranging from beginners to the most experienced paddlers. The program also assists these personnel in adapting these newly developed skills to their new abilities. Adaptive kayaks, kayaking accessories and angling equipment is offered on an as needed basis to accommodate a soldier s particular needs. Our program is unique in that it is a long-term activity, not a one-time event. We believe that the effectiveness of the program is a direct result of engaging the wounded military personnel for the long-term. One soldier, at the Center for the Intrepid, called what we do Triple Therapy or all at once therapy. On post he has to go to the gym for physical therapy, then go upstairs for his occupational therapy, and then go to the psychologist for mental therapy. With kayak fishing he gets it all at once - physical therapy from paddling and fishing, occupational therapy learning a lifetime sport/activity, and mental therapy from relaxing in nature with no distractions or expectations of performance. The Heroes on the Water (HOW), Coordinated Therapeutic Programs provide alternative therapeutic options to established Post Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment providers. The force multiplying benefits of the HOW program married with the traditional forms of recreational and group therapy can break down barriers and enhance the treatment of the these disorders. Heroes on the water is actively seeking partnerships with established treatment programs, including inpatient traditional facilities and outpatient group sessions to help in the healing process and facilitate the interaction of nature and our nations warriors. Supporting Heroes on the Water www.heroesonthewater.org/chapters/southwest-floridachapter/

Dear Donors and Sponsors, Heroes on the Water is a therapeutic kayak fishing rehabilitation and reintegration program dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty personnel and veterans. In the fulfillment of this mission, HOW works with active duty personnel and veterans in military hospitals, Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, Army Warrior Transition Units (WTU s), and Marine Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR) across the Nation. Our activities are closely coordinated with military and hospital staff and all services are provided without cost. HOW programs include active duty, reservist, guard and veterans of all conflicts, and disabilities of all types. We respectfully request a donation to support our Third Annual Moose Inshore Slam, a fishing tournament organized to benefit our local wounded veterans. Thanks to prior contributions (2015), we have been able to: fund five events, two overnight events, purchase 10 kayak fishing systems, and purchase an enclosed 20X8 trailer. For many of our participants, our program is also their only form of recreation. Our goal is to provide services to all disabled active duty personnel and veterans, at no cost to them. Ensuring their participation helps our participants achieve progress in their rehabilitation and reintegrate into society. These Heroes were there for America; will you be there for them? On behalf of our heroes, we appreciate your consideration of this request. Please contact me at 813-471-7234 or at swflorida@heroesonthewater.org if you would like to schedule a tour/site visit or need further information about this program. We look forward to hearing from you. All the Best, HEROES on the WATER Capt. Esteban O. Gutierrez Chapter Coordinator FREEDOM CAPTURED. HOW EIN 13-4367788. HOW is a 501(c) (3)

This event will be the fundraising vehicle for a donation to the Southwest Florida Chapter of Heroes on the Water. Your donations and support of this event will be greatly appreciated by our local veterans and war heroes supported by this fine organization. We have committed to provide $6,000 with a goal of $12,000. Heroes on the Water is a corporation filed in the State of Florida as a 501 (c) (3) non for profit organization.
