Puyallup Valley Lions Club The Lions Word The official publication of the Puyallup Valley Lions Club, Lions Clubs International Meetings: 1st & 3rd Tuesday, 11:55 am Puerto Vallarta Restaurant 215 SE 15th Puyallup Washington volume 42 issue 5 November 2017 Editor: Lion Cindi Lang e-mail: cnllang@comcast.net At the October 17 meeting, Lion Celeste Hurst invited Pam Reichel, a teacher at Puyallup High School, and two of her students from HOSA, Hailey and Serena, to come tell us what HOSA is all about. Students from HOSA have volunteered at the Puyallup Valley Lions Spaghetti Feed and have been a great help. Pam teaches several medical related classes at the high school, as well as being the adviser for HOSA, which has 95 members. Health Occupation Students of America The goal of the group is community service. Some of the ways they contribute are: Blood Drives (Had the Blood Drive of the Year) Spring Health Fair Food Pantry (Donated food for students) Food Drives (40 boxes) Children s Therapy Unit (Part of Good Samaritan Hospital) Holiday Party and they also volunteer there on a regular basis. Help at the Santa Breakfast and Parade in downtown Puyallup Also compete in state competition The students in HOSA are always willing to help out with service to the community. Puyallup Valley Lions is very appreciative of their help. At the Club Meeting on October 17, Lion Dolores baked a cake for Fidel s (our server at Puerta Vallarta) birthday. Everyone enjoyed the cake. Happy Birthday, Fidel On Halloween, Lion Cindi from Puyallup Valley Lions and Lion John from Puyallup Lions, helped hand out candy at the South Hill Mall as part of the Service Clubs of Puyallup. Puyallup Food Bank donated the candy. Not sure how many kids were there, but we ran out of candy.
