PRE-RACE CHECKLIST Review race website chasethecoyote.com for race day information. Review course maps and aid station locations. Review parking information (new instructions this year). Allow extra time to check in, pick up kit, etc. Pre-race kit pickup available at Running Free Orangeville on Friday, September 22 from 11am to 6pm. Review your hydration and fuel needs to allow for proper fueling during race. We will provide Skratch Electrolyte as well as water on course and at Start/Finish. Fruit 2 bars are on course and other food options are at designated aid stations (see below) but if you have specific food requirements or allergies, please bring your own to ensure a smooth race. 50K racers will have a designated drop bag spot at the Start/Finish (which is also the half way point) and will be accessible during race. WHAT TO BRING Directions to race start and parking information. Headlamp/hand torch (strongly recommended for 50K start as sunrise is set for 7:10am, but if a cloudy day, it will be a dark start). Appropriate clothing/gear based on weather forecast. Drop bag for 50K no large duffels please. Bag check for 25K/12K no large duffels please. Water bottle(s) or hydration pack. Nutrition (anything you plan to carry with you or a pre-race snack). Required medications, such as, inhalers or EpiPen s, Ibuprofen or pain relievers (NOTE race event staff/volunteers/medical teams cannot distribute pain relievers or other medications). Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat. 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION 25K Course is as difficult and as much fun as we could make it. If you survive cardiac hill at 2K, and 68 steps to ruin, and the roots of all evil, then the rest is an easy rolling romp towards the finish line. 50K Ultra Course is two loops of the 25K combining Mono Cliffs Park with the trails in the Dufferin Forest. Plenty of single and double track trails with scenic views and challenging climbs. As with all trail races, these distances are approximate. Bear in mind that GPS distance may vary from racer to racer. We have planned to the best of our ability to give you a course that you will never forget! RACE LOCATION Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is located on 3rd Line in Orangeville. Approximately 15 minutes north of downtown Orangeville. Rather than use a physical address in your GPS, type: Mono Cliffs Provincial Park and follow the Race road signs as you approach the park. PARKING Parking is limited at the site. If you are lucky enough to park in the lot, please display the card given to you by the parking marshals as your parking fee is included in your race fee; if you don't display the card, you run the risk of getting a ticket. Once the lot is full our volunteer marshals will direct you to park on the WEST side of 3rd line. Please DO NOT block our neighbours driveways. VOLUNTEERS we have a separate lot/shuttle service for you information will be provided in your confirmation email. 2

AID STATION LOCATIONS & CUT-OFF POLICY For the safety of all racers, volunteers and officials, any runner who is not on pace to complete their distance by the designated cutoff time may be pulled at any time by the Race Director. Please be aware that 8 hours is considered a hard cut off time for the 50K and 5 hours for the 25K. If a runner fails to depart the aid stations by the designated cut-off time (see below) they will be pulled from the race. Race staff reserve the right to pull ANY runner from the race at ANY time and at ANY point on the course. This is a trail race, all distances are approximate! RACE WEEKEND SCHEDULE Friday, September 22, 2017 11:00 AM Early Race Kit Pickup starts at Running Free Orangeville, 88 First St. 6:00 PM Early Race Kit Pickup closes Saturday, September 23, 2017 06:00 AM Race Kit Pickup starts, main parking lot of Mono Cliffs Provincial Park 07:00 AM 50K Ultra Course Race Start 08:30 AM 25K Course Race Start 09:50 AM Kit Pickup CLOSES 10:00 AM 12K Course Race Start 11:00 AM Post race refreshments available 12:00 PM Award Ceremonies and Draw Prizes 1:30 PM 25K Cutoff 3:00 PM 50K Cutoff BIBS Bibs must be worn on the front of your shirt/jacket/shorts for the purpose of recording at aid stations and photo capturing (free race photos will be provided online after the event). The timing chip is located on the back of your bib and should not be folded. To ensure that all racers complete the proper course, a volunteer will be marking race bib numbers at certain aid station locations (see chart above). 6

If you are unable to finish the course, please advise race staff at the closest aid station. Staff will notify the Race Director and arrange for transportation back to the Start/Finish if necessary. If you see a potentially injured runner on course, please get their bib number and report details to the closest aid station. CREW/PACERS/BAG CHECK No pacing allowed for any distance. Crewing is not necessary for this event as aid stations will be stocked with plenty of water and Skratch Eelectrolytes. Snacks such as Fruit 2 bars, pretzels, PB&J sandwiches, etc. will be available at a number of aid stations; refer to the maps and charts provided in this guide. Aid stations are between 1.5K and 4.5K apart. If you have specific dietary requirements, please provide your own fuel. 50K racers will have a designated drop bag tent at the Start/Finish line that they can access on the start of their second loop. We will also have a separate, designated area for bag check for the 25K and 12K, again no large duffels please. COURSE MARKINGS It is each runner s responsibility to follow the marked course. Your bib colour corresponds to the flag/sign colour that you will be following. PINK = 50K ORANGE = 25K BLUE = 12K While it s always a great idea to keep your eyes on the trail, you will also need to watch for your designated flag/sign colour to stay on course. There are other trail markings such as white/blue tree blazes, as this course uses quite a bit of Bruce Trail, so please ensure you are watching out for the designated race markings. 7

RACE ETIQUETTE We do not have exclusive use of the trails on race day, so expect to see hikers, dog walkers, etc. Please use courtesy upon approach. If you wish to pass another runner or trail user, please call out on your left. Slower runners, please yield to fellow racers who wish to pass and stay right unless passing. There will be some areas of two way traffic, so keep right when possible to allow for safe passing. Earphones are NOT ALLOWED for safety reasons, this is mostly single track trail! VOLUNTEERS Without volunteers there is no race! Please be courteous to all of our volunteers a thank you and a smile go a long way! FIRST AID We will have medical staff at the Start/Finish line they will have basic first aid supplies. Aid stations will be accompanied by a radio communications operator who can relay messages to the Start/Finish line. Cell service is very spotty and unreliable in the park. In case of emergency, 911 will be dispatched. There are 4 road access points throughout the park and the volunteers will have been made aware of emergency procedures. WASHROOMS There are washrooms located at the Start/Finish line as well as the 2K, 13.5K, 27K and 38.5K. SWAG, AWARDS, EXPO & POST-RACE PROVISIONS Swag!
