Come out and Support the Eagles Football team as they host Batesville tonight! Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!! Be Safe GCT Weekly BEAK Volume 379, October 28, 2016 Fireman Chad Davis came to school to talk to Mrs. Lisa Brown s class and Mrs. Debbie Horner s class about fire safety. Captain Kenny Highfill and Driver Jeremy brought the fire truck for all the Kindergarten classes to see. October 10-14 is Fire Safety Week. Students in Angie Branch s 2 nd grade class at GCT Elementary were in for a treat as Staci Williams read a book. Staci is an employee at AMMC which is a partner in education with GCT Elementary School. Staci s daughter, Gracie is in the class. Thank you to Marti Johnson for the photos.

GCT Elementary School Counselor, Marlo Sturkie, IS NOT wearing a Halloween costume, she got very creative one day prior to Halloween on a duty costume while loading afternoon buses. It can be tricky and great job Mrs. Sturkie on finding a creative way to get students to the buses! Students from Mrs. Leah and Mrs. Karla s preschool class at GCT enjoyed Community Helper Day! GCT appreciates all of the local agencies and volunteers for coming out to share with the students!

Sixth grade PACE students in Tammy Thompson s classes studied an Archaeology unit. Students excavated trash, and then went on a trip to Parkin Archaeological State Park,. The unit culminated with creating projects where students researched an ancient civilization and made an artifact from that civilization. Thank you to Tammy Thompson for the photos and information. Congratulations to the GCT Marching Band for receiving a First Division rating for the GCT Marching Eagle Band at the Regional Marching Assessment on Tuesday, October 18 th, 2016. Pictured above is after the awards at the Redskin Classic in Pocahontas. RING BELL OPPORTUNITIES Every year Mission Outreach rings the bell in front of Wal-Mart during the holiday season. This is one of their biggest fundraisers. If you or a club that you sponsor would like to help out with this event, please contact Jackie Ross at 870-930-0504 or email jackieross@missionoutreachnea.com or feel free to contact Gia Taylor for more information at GCT Elementary School.

Bulletin Board at GCT High School Media Center gets the attention of students during the Halloween season. For National School Lunch Week, NSLW, GCT Elementary Kitchen Manager, Brittany Gunn. planned some fun activities. On Monday, pictures of fruits and vegetables were placed on a spin wheel. Two student names were drawn from each class during each lunch period. Each student had a chance to spin the wheel and whichever fruit or veggie landed on they had to try a bite of the food. If the students ate the fruit or vegetable they won 5 extra minutes of recess totaling 10 extra minutes if both students from each class ate the fruit or veggie. Then on Friday, Brittany had challenged all of her students to eat lunch in the cafeteria. Brittany set a goal of 1200 lunches total for the week and if they reached that goal then she would draw one name from each lunch period to put a pie in Mr. Davis face. The kids and staff had a great time! They are already asking her what she is planning for next year! Thank you to GCT Elementary Assistant Principal, Keith Davis, who took pies in the face as a good sport in celebration of National School Lunch Week that was full of activities for students. The students really enjoyed him being a great sport. Thank you to Tanya Turner and Vonnie Greer for the photos and information.
