GRAND TOUR THE NT SERIES TECHNICAL GUIDE INTRODUCTION This year BMXNT has introduced a race series as big as the Northern Territory. The BMXNT Grand Tour is open to all licensed riders, including 4-month licenses. It presents a great opportunity to explore the Northern Territory, visit our regional Clubs, race at a variety of different tracks, meet old and new friends, and race them. The Series format adds an interesting dimension to racing. It s about consistency and strategy ie will I be able to get more points at that round and become the Series Champion? Prize money Riders that place 1st-3rd at each round receive prize money. Participation awards & Mini Wheelers at each round receive a series award. Series Champions The riders that qualify and place 1st-3rd on Series points in each Challenge class at the end of the series will be awarded BMXNT Series Champion plates. (Novice classes are not eligible). Series Champion Club The Club Team with the highest points at the end of the series will win the Series Champion Club Trophy. Official of the Series The Official with the most votes at the end of the Series will receive an award. Volunteer of the Series The Volunteer with the most votes at the end of the Series will receive an award. Riders of the Series The Senior Male/Female and Junior Male/Female riders with the most votes at the end of the series will receive an award.

Series race format and qualification Each round will be 4 motos and finals or extra moto for classes of 8 or less riders. Consolation finals will be run where required. and Mini Wheelers ride 5 motos. Riders are to compete in 3 rounds to qualify for a series award. If a rider competes in more than 3 rounds their 3 best round points will be used to determine their overall position. 3. Nomination Nominations will be online through the BMXA website. Late nominations will be taken up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled race start time of each round and will incur a $10 late fee per nomination. 4. Registration The will be no registration process. It is the rider s/parent s responsibility to check that each rider s nomination details are correct. Nomination details will be available on the online nomination page through the View Entrant List link on the nomination webpage, at the transponder testing station on the event day and via race sheets posted at the track or on Ezeventing. Changes may be made up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled race start time of each round. If a rider is nominated and will not be able to compete they are to SMS or call 0439 116 162 at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled race start time. 5. Transponders Transponders will be used at each round for scoring, all riders (except, Mini Wheelers) must have a transponder. It is the rider s/parent s responsibility to test the transponder at the testing station to ensure that transponder is fitted and working correctly, and that nomination and number plate details are correct. Any rider starting a race without a transponder or with a nonworking transponder or with incorrect details will be scored as Did Not Start (DNS). In the event of a malfunction or loss of transponder, during racing the rider s finishing position will be determined by the officials. If a rider gets a start signal but not a finish signal the commissaires will endeavours to determine the placing for that rider. If this is not possible the rider will be scored last. Prochip Flex Transponders can be purchased from Mylaps or will be available for purchase from some clubs or the event organiser (BMXNT) for $52. A limited number of loan transponders will be available in the event of a malfunction or loss. Loan transponders that are not returned will incur a $150 fine.

Series racing rules This series is class S and will be conducted under the current BMX Australia Domestic rule book. 6.1 Three nominated riders constitute a class. 6.2 Rider s (except sprockets) may nominate up into a higher class. The class a rider nominates in is the class they are to remain in for the entire series. If a rider changes class their prior points will not be counted. Under-subscribed classes will be combined with an older class; however, classes with a maximum age of more than 24 years shall be combined with the next younger class. Points earned in a combined class will be carried to the nominated class if the class is formed in three of the rounds. 6.3 A rider must start in a race to be counted as competing in that round. 6.4 Racing transfer rules are 13.1 (a) and 13.2 (a). (Modified BMXNT novice criteria.) In order to be eligible to race in the Novice classes a rider must not have: (a) Placed in the top 8 riders of a National Championship, (b) Placed in the top 8 riders of a National Series round, (c) Placed in the top 8 riders (male) or top 3 riders (female) of a previous BMXNT Titles, (d) Placed in the overall top 3 riders of a previous BMXNT Series (any class including novice). 6.7 Novice riders are not permitted to use clip pedals in this class event. The green novice sticker is to be shown on the number plate for each round. Novice classes are not eligible for Series Champion awards or inclusion in Club Team points. Novices are eligible for nomination in the Rider of the Series awards. 6.8 Participation classes. Mini Wheelers are to wear full face helmets when riding on a track. may be assisted on the start hill and on obstacles on the track. are not permitted to use clip pedals at this class event. 6.9 and pro sections. Pro sections are mandatory for all male competitors. Pro sections are optional for female competitors unless directed by the Chief Commissaire. 6.10 All rider s/parents are to make sure that equipment and clothing is in a suitable condition for practice and racing and complies with the BMXA Australia Domestic Rule book. The fact that any noncompliance was not noticed earlier in an event shall not constitute a defence in case it is noticed later in the same event, or at a future event. Random equipment and clothing inspections will be conducted. Those not to standard will not be eligible to race. 6.11 All riders must have a number plate fitted to their bike during practice and racing that corresponds to their nomination. In case of duplicate plate numbers the Registrar will change the visitors plate number. 6.12 A protest may be filed by a rider through the Team Manager with the Chief Commissaire for the scoring of a rider. Protests can only be made on the results from the scoring medium showing the order in which the riders crossed the finish line, not the decisions of the Commissaires panel that are noted in the results such as DNS (Did Not Start), DNF (Did Not Finish), REL (Relegated).

EVENT DETAILS (CONTINUED) 7. Series Champion Club Nomination forms will be available at each round for nomination of a Club Team. The forms will contain the nomination guide. The Club Team will consist of four riders in the Challenge classes (no novice) with a maximum of two Females. Club Team members do not have to be the same riders at each round. Accumulated points from the best three rounds of the Club Team will be used to determine the winner. 8. Official of the Series Nominations forms will be at each round to vote for an Official of the Series. Votes can be cast by other Officials. Criteria is helpfulness, rule knowledge and conduct. If votes are tied the winner will be drawn from a hat. 9. Volunteer of the Series Nominations forms will be at each round to vote for a Volunteer of the Series. Votes can be cast by other riders, spectators and Officials. Criteria is helpfulness, amount of work they have contributed and conduct. If votes are tied the winner will be drawn from a hat. 10. Riders of the Series Nomination forms will be available at each round to vote for a Senior Male and Female (13 years and over) and Junior Male and Female (8-12 years) riders of the Series. Votes can be cast by riders, officials, parents and spectators. Criteria is sportsmanship, rider behaviour & results. If votes are tied the winner will be drawn from a hat. 11. Sponsors and Promotion Opportunities are available for businesses to invest in the series and promote their business Territory wide. There are three levels of investment, Series naming rights, Class naming rights package and a single event Class naming right. Contact BMXNT for a copy of the BMXNT Series Sponsorship Prospectus to see the benefits of investing in the Series. 12. Host Club involvement 12.1 Nominate an Event Manager at least two months prior to the event to liaise with BMXNT and help organise the event at a local level. 12.2 The host a gate practice session with first aid and collect. Revenue is retained by the Club. 12.3 Receive $2 per nomination from BMXNT. 12.4 May facilitate raffles at the event. Revenue is retained by the club. 12.5 Provide a canteen service for food and drinks. Revenue raised is retained by the club. 12.6 Prepare the track and facility to a standard that is suitable for an open trophy event. 12.7 Maintain the track and facilities through the event. 12.8 Prepare race administration facilities. 12.9 Organise and pay for a minimum of three first aid personnel and equipment to be present during practice, warm up and racing. 12.10 Arrange Officials in consultation with the NT Officiating Director and Event Director. 12.11 Provide water for each Official and a $10 food voucher redeemable at the canteen. BMXNT reimburses 50% of the cost of the vouchers redeemed. 13. BMXNT involvement 13.1 Coordinate the nomination process. 13.2 Coordinate the sponsorship packages and promotion. 13.3 Coordinate the transponder process with the Club Registrar. 13.4 Coordinate the race administration with the Club Registrar. 13.5 Coordinate the Officials during warm up & racing. 13.6 Coordinate the series scoring. 13.7 Coordinate the series voting and provide prize money and awards. 13.8 Coordinate the payment of the agreed revenue to the Club.
